@Chunkymonkey7, it stirs my heart to hear bagpipes. I'm a Tamil lad from Chennai in South India and grew up in a Scots Kirk (St. Andrews in Madras). Many of my playmates at the time were Scottish. The Madras City Police started a bagpipe band in those days because one of the sergeants made a request.

My dad, a Scott, loved the bagpipes until a neighbour, where he rented an apartment, would start playing the bagpipes after midnight every night. My father needed to get up at 5am. That experience turned my dad off the bagpipes. But I love them.

@@jamesbooker9411 You do know who wrote Mull Of Kintyre? Liking music from whatever country it comes from is not ‘claiming culture.’ English people are allowed to respect and enjoy another country’s culture be that Scotland, Wales, and Ireland... wherever. I suppose you only listen to music than comes from Scotland and nowhere else in the world as, according to you, you would be ‘claiming their culture’.

Love this; from an American whose ggggreat grandfather, Bruce clan, came from Scotland to the New World in the late 1700's. We all go to the local Scottish Highlands festivals each year here in Colorado. About 8 parishioners including my son, celebrate Easter at our local Church (Orthodox ancient Church) in Kilts. Our Bishop in California is Scottish and actually wore his kilt upon visiting us a few years ago. Tradition.

I am Brazilian. But I had the opportunity to visit Scotland and know a little about its culture. It is a beautiful and welcoming country. The Scottish spirit is very warm. And the sound of the bagpipes makes me cry. I had no doubt and I ended up buying two of them in Edinburgh. That eventually served as decoration on the wall of my office. Because it is very difficult to play. Sir James Paul McCartney was sure to be very insumed (as always) when he created this beautiful song. And he made a great tribute to Mull of Kyntire. And of course to all Scotland. Detail I learned to sing this song in 1978. Hugs from Brazil.

@flip inheck What do you mean? That Denny Lane is the author of this song? If you are implying that Denny is co-author, then you should have written "and Denny Laine" You would have been wrong, at the same, but you wouldn´t have made a fool at of you, suggesting that Laine is the solo creater of it...

@flip inheck I´m from Portugal. Not an expert in English. But, I bet i can write in your language much better than you in mine... Now, stick to the point: what do you mean by "Denny Laine"??? @GabrielSoares-lj9rv 5 жыл бұрын
@flip inheck So, you should have written "and Denny Laine"!!! Not just "Denny Laine". There should have been an "and" before the name of Denny. Because, it´s very clear that, without the "and", what it does means is that you are saying that it is only Denny the author. Get it? Simple logic... And yes! It is a P. McCartney AND D. Laine composition! Although Macca have purchased the rights from Denny, some time ago, and now the title can be credited just to Macca.

When I hear the Bagpipes airing up I am spellbound and drawn in like a magnetic field towards the haunting music. I temporarily feel like I am leaving my earthly bounds and soaring up there with the Eagles, some where between earth and Heaven. Awesome Bagpipes they make me smile and cry all at the same time and wishing I could play one . Thanks !!!!

This was played as a feature as a comtemporary tribute to Scotland in the Edinburgh Tattoo 2005 near the end of the program. Now that was a performance. And not many modern day music pop stars can say that their song was featured in the Edinburgh Tattoo.
