Multiplayer Racing Review of 2023: Assetto Corsa Competizione On Console (Part 2)

A couple of weeks ago (29th June 2023) our very own John Munro dove the PlayStation 5 version of Assetto Corsa Competizione just after its new v1.9 update.

Heading online for some competitive multiplayer action, we found ACC on the PlayStation 5 to be a frustratingly buggy experience, with seemingly random incidences of grip loss ruining our racing experience.
With a patch released to fix the issues on the 6th of July, we thought it was only fair to see if the online experience has improved. So, John jumped back into the hotseat to give it another chance.
He got off to a bad start thanks to the Japan-based server offering up glacially slow pings, causing multiple incidents, but in fairness, several of the low-ping servers were out of reach thanks to the Traxion.GG account’s low safety rating (SA).

As a PS5 ACC player, I only have 1 advice for online racing. Qualify in front or start from the back. Never mid pack as the survival rate is 50%.

I love the new update, (on PS5). The group of Lambos with the series of numbers between 550-570 however have are griefers in all my experiences with them.

I’ve been playing acc for over 3 years. Not once have I raced online for reasons you can see in this video. The A.I 97-100 is serviceable.. gives you a decent challenge when you work out how they race

If you find a community league, that's the best avenue for clean online racing. I personally host a PS5 league for ACC players and I'm very proud of how clean we race. Just today we did a 45 minute race at Imola and I had zero contact but at the same time it was action packed and I went from P19 up to P7.

Ok so I’ve got the thrustmaster T-GT2 on ps5 and on 1.8 everything was fine but after 1.9 it crashed every time I tried to play it. Haven’t tried it after the latest patch though. So my question is I haven’t updated the firmware since I got it. It was just new out of the box and plug and play, some people have said no need to update it as the new firm ware is just pedal reconigition. Should I update my wheel or just try the new patch

I’m kinda new to sim racing I usually play grand turismo 7 or f1 22 I just started playing asetto corsa but im struggling with the steering since I’m using a controller I have a wheel too so my question is can you play the game with a controller or do you have to use a wheel because I can’t control the car with the control

More important than 1.9 fixed (never had any issue on Xbox sx) is one thing: fanatec wheel with practically no configuration on buttons. It’s been way too long. What does it take ?

Lag is something hard to judge if we dont know where and on what connection people are coming from .... prediction code can only do so much :/

As a Console driver the most interesting Questions for 1.9 are: Is there a difference in terms of FFB, BoP and LapTimes? How much faster is Racing on PC?

Huge difference as a PS driver I'm way more happy on PC. Used to try back and forth but no use....then that input and ffb lag...the monitor fix help my PC experience but nothing helps PS. I'm also having fun using a low end Nvidia geforce gtx 1650 4GB GPU in an i5 7th gen system but still having fun with large grids providing you setup the view options to maximize or stabilize fps and optimize performance

What do I think? Driving on server with SA below 70 it's looking for trouble so it's all because your poor SA not servers. I lost 20 minutes and zi still don't know if we put a pro driver into console is he able to be that fast as on PC or am I slower because I'm on xbox. Can soneone finaly do that please? It's 2023 and still no idea if Im slower on console....

I've been playing on Series X, and I had the same glitch with acceleration issues that you did, but since 1.9.1.2, I haven't had any game breaking bugs or glitches. Apart from when trying to adjust wheel settings, getting booted to dashboard. Other than that, I've had stable, and in general excellent racing.

Yep, servers are the only issue now IMO. Playing in the UK in the evening and the ibi official servers I see are in Tokyo 🤨

Graphics not right on my xbox series s. Scenery pops up as going around track and worst is pixelating of lines. Especially Monza towers, fencing and bridges. I complained to both Kunos and Microsoft several times about this. Have seen many others on line complain of this. I even purchased a better monitor and made sure cables are best to use with no better results for this problem. Why can't they fix this or advise us as to why they refuse to fix.

Leagues are where it's at on console. Competition server isn't populated partly because it doesn't give out the CP rating so it's not worth doing. Our league consistently has 30ish showing up for race night and several other leagues have the same

Unfortunately for me my game keeps crashing using my Logitech g923 and its not the game it's a Logitech problem. Sad because I have only recently started playing Acc. Just tried my career driving an hour long race 3 corners before the finish on my last lap game crashes. On some days I can't even complete 5 min of racing. Unfortunately living in South Africa it's not easy to get Fanatec products as they do not ship to my country so sad 😢. Keep up the good work love your video's.

I've been advised to try it with True Force turned to 0. Also been asked to try True Force on but to set the console to offline, when in single player mode anyway. It had been crashing at random.

Acc i download this game on xbox series x and i can tell you the game is wicked i get 119 frames per second on glittering iam happy and graphics are really nice .😊😊😊😊😊

As an acc console user i can say you will be very lucky to get a comp server with more than 3 people in it as well as there only being a comp race every 4-6h

It hasn’t been fixed because it’s beyond the point of being fixable. I’m talking about everything that is not simply driving the car (and even that they often get it awfully wrong). There’s no online infrastructure if you’re not in a league. CP servers are severely under used, no events for months… even the single player aspect is buggy. As someone who has been supporting this game on console since the ps4 release and hoping things will get fixed, I now have zero hope that will happen.

high ping 252 hence rubber banding and lag as John said he's not worried about it. Tokiyo server is the worst one gaming from Europe, UK, total SA killer because of lag caused crashes. It has no SA entry limit too. Looking at glitches mainly. My PS5 ACC sessions are fine now. Race 2, surprised no crashes in turn one and he spoke too early...

Who cares. Consoles are for spotty high score chasers. Play it on PC. Feel like you're a part of the action while sipping on your Chocolate flavoured Nesquik. Gt7 é um arcade ridículo onde você está dentro de um carro percorrendo um túnel invisível, você não vê a porra do túnel mais está lá . Única coisa boa no gt7 é as punições que deveriam ser iguais no acc. No acc o cara te joga pra fora da pista você perde SA e o cara que te matou continua a correr e ganhar posições e ganha SA. Um, may I ask wtf ur smokin? GT7 isn’t even a proper ‘Sim’ with real physics etc. It’s a sim-cade title. ACC is very popular on PC, and I personally play almost everyday with full servers and mostly clean racing. Can’t comment on console, but for sure ACC on PC is 100% NOT dead.
