I created multiple inboxes and notice that the emails I want in one of the inboxes I created are also showing in the general inbox. How do I get them out of the general inbox and only appear in the inbox I created?

This was great info. I have been on a quest to stop using Outlook altogether but have never been able to truly setup Gmail to work with multiple email accounts which is different from the multiple inboxes. Or is it? Seems like I could use this but wondering if their is a better way. In outlook, they list each inbox and its folders. Is it possible to do this with Gmail? I have 5 different email accounts in outlook. Thanks.

I like the Labels and Filters better than this ... this is just chaotic. But one thing I would love to know is how to either get rid of Updates, or automatically move emails out of Updates. I have it set up so all my email accounts go to Updates and then filtered to their Folders/Labels, but it takes time to remove the Updates label from all the emails - not much but still a pain.

If I apply a label to an email in one of my multiple inboxes why doesn't it move out of that inbox? Is there something I can do to get it to stop showing in that inbox after I've "filed" it in another label?

I use multiple inboxes. I have 'kids stuff', 'waiting on', and 'read through'. when you combine multiple inboxes with automatic labeling and learning shortcuts to label a message 'v' things move really quickly.

Thanks for the tip, great video. When I add multiple inboxes it gets rid of my promotions folder, so I now have 10,000 unread emails in my inbox. It seems to put all my promotions into the inbox. Is there a workaround?

What if you have tabs: priority/personal /social / promotions and forum categories? Not labels. Your inbox before you added the 2nd one and after, looks totally different than my setup. Thank you very much if you can help me. You explain this subject very well, otherwise. 😁

Hello, I work for a gentleman that get hundreds of emails daily. Part of my job is to sort through his emails and let him know which ones he needs to deal with right away and which ones he can wait on. I have watched several of your video's and can't seem to figure out how to keep the top labels Primary, Promotions, and Social to remain while changing to a system where he has several emails in his box . Like Important, Starred, Everything else. Can this be done? If so can you explain how, or did I just miss something?

I started using multiple inboxes, but now my inbox has over 6,000 emails in it b/c all the "promotions" and "social" emails that gmail filters out in their default setting, are in my inbox. Is there a way to get rid of all these emails?? I don't want my inbox to have thousands of emails.

If I get an email and want to move it to my urgent in box I do so at the top of the email on the Move to tab. but then it moves to my Label but not the in box?? How do I move it to the specific inbox?
