Pascal is brilliant and so correct. Unfortunately Western leaders had made life much too easy much earlier and their dependency on foreign labor, and skills has been too long. MSM has done their jobs much too well and for much too long??? Others have worked hard to rise up and improve their own livelihoods. The West has neglected encouraging their Citizens to remain competitive with the rest of the world.

Yep, sit in a room - for days if necessary and debate until consensus is reached. Tribal (so-called primitive) peoples eg Maori in Aotearoa used to do this. That was intra- tribal, inter-tribal resolution was a balance between trade (most of the time), deals, intermarriage, alliances etc but raid when deemed necessary - incl. when protein in short supply!

I was born in the Philippines of Chinese heritage. Now in my 70’s, been living in the US for some 50 yearsI I so understand the Philippines unfortunate systemic problems. Anna ‘s and her views are still in the minority. Why are the filipinos so enslaved to Uncle Sam’s dictates? Why o why the Filipino oligarchs are so entrenched in the political system., and are forever the ruling class? Why do the filipinos love the US so much? Yet, if there is an opportunity to leave the country, they would! I see a sad situation!

The BRICS is about a MULTINODAL world, and not a multipolar world, where "nodes" brings a notion of inter-dependence, whereas "poles" are related to isolated countries minding their own businesses. So, this is why the better term for the new world that emerges with BRICS is "multinodality", instead of "multipolarity".

Mr. S.L Kanthan is right about values. Values such as benevolence, righteousness, justice, equality, responsibility, courtesy, filial piety etc. It's something that is rarely discussed by western media. It's sad that the collective west sees values as some sort of vulgarity. The US was found on Christian beliefs. And these beliefs are values. To forsake values is to forsake God and His son, Jesus Christ. China has seen shift between unipolar and multipolar regimes throughout its history. China's unification was often brought about by people with the correct values and fragmented when values were forsaken.

Your discussions of nations around the world is very interesting. There is something, however, your panel didn’t mention, and that was the role of the private sector middle class, that grows the economy by running private sector for profit companies, and their consumption of all of these products and services. Most nations have very small private sectors and therefore have a small private sector middle class, with not much purchasing power. The middle class are the people who are able to consume these products. Unless government’s change to capitalism….what sector buys the goods? Most of the world is communist, dictatorships and socialism… all have a small consumer base, and a very low standard of living. If the U.S. goes down the drain, it’s going to have a world wide downward spiral on everyone else. I think it’s the loss of the U.S. middle class that is starting this downward spiral. That’s one of the biggest reasons why the U.S. federal government is printing so much money. 🇺🇸

Disparaging comments toward Kathleen are doing the same thing as Mr. Tangen’s unnecessary interruption of her to belittle her work. The notion that there is a separation between “Real” and “Financial” is what holds us back from understanding the current monetary crisis we’ve been stuck in since 2007-8. I don’t think anyone who is belittling her for talking up her work would do the same of many of the men who take up the majority of time talking in this space. Digby Wren is somewhat disingenuous. Yes Japan and Germany got funding after world war 2, Germany specifically was occupied by multiple countries and people in those countries worked mainly for the interest of other European countries, and were subjected to forced labour (typical Anglo overlooking history), and the factories and industry that Germany had was also destroyed by the Allies after WW2, so the rebuilding of the German economy was done in a way to suit the American and English capitalist model and turn them away from the Corporatist model. Secondly, yes the Soviets were excluded, the Soviets were both excluded and excluded themselves based on their Marxist-Leninist principles by which they wanted to end capitalism, which the capitalists would naturally oppose for the sake of self-preservation. They didn't want to be propped up by the capitalists, they had an economic period under Lenin where foreign investment from the US was allowed in order to rapidly industrialize and learn from Western technology (China did the same in recent history) up until it was no longer necessary and they built a war communist economy to ensure that they are self-sustainable. Wren might brag about having a Phd, but it's clearly not in history or economics, otherwise the institution through which he received that Phd is of extremely low quality since his utterances were ignorant.
