I watched it all, but have yet to see one single reason of why this game is NEVER gonna happen as the title claims. Because it's taking too long? I'm pretty sure by now everyone should be aware of how difficult it is to make a game this big during your free time while having a job and other responsibilities. This isn't a game company, it's just a bunch of dudes making a game about a series they like, as a hobby. There's no deadlines. Because there's too much content? Would it REALLY be better if the game had less just so people can play it early? The X8 Demake released as a complete game and even then a lot of people were complaining about how it lacked this and that (until mods fixed it), so I don't know eh? but I'm pretty sure that if the game was actually cut on size just so it releases faster a lot of people wouldn't be happy with it. I'd personally rather have a big and satisfactory game instead of a short experience that I'll beat in 2 hours and then forget about it. And what is this nonsense about "milking" the game? It's a FREE game. And the dude is merely allowing donations in streams for support to the creators who for all we know at some point might just decide to stop working on this in favor of more important real life matters. People are completely free to never donate a cent if they don't want to and they'll still get the game and everything that entails, but those that do just want to support what's being made and want nothing else in return. Donating won't make the game release faster or give exclusive access to things, it's merely a support to the dudes making this. People need to start getting over this whole thing and stop being afraid of the copyright ninjas, because if Capcom really wasn't okay with it, they would've done something about it YEARS ago. I'm not even gonna address the people who claim the game is fake. It's just ridiculous nonsense when you can clearly see the game being developed live on streams. Learn to be patient or just follow the updates and streams instead of making up ridiculous theories. I get that people are impatient and anxious over this game, but nobody at ANY point said that it's a rule that homebrew fangames should be developed in a reasonable amount of time. The video itself says it clearly several times, they should take the time they need. So it's also time to drop the anxiety over a game done by some folks in their free time, and maybe just play something else while you wait. X8 Demake is fully released with mod support, my own MMX Innocent Impulse has a few demos too, there's also games like 30XX and Gravity Circuit which capture the feel of the X games nearly perfectly. Let's learn to be patient and wait, there's no point making up things or build up doom out of anxiety and impatience.

@@DumboyMikey Quite frankly? I really doubt either of those things are gonna happen at all. One because I think very unlikely that Capcom will release X9 at all at this point, and the other which I absolutely agree with you that it would be not only disrespectful to the followers of the game but also a gigantic waste to just discard everything after getting this far. But well, JKB said he'd cancel it if X9 was released a long time ago. Like... YEARS ago, around September 2017 to be precise. Mostly on the reasoning that the risk of a C&D notice would be too high, since he said people would rather play a free fangame instead of a paid product and Capcom won't like that. We now know thanks to Mega Man 11 and the plethora of other high quality fangames out there that this isn't the case, so I think it's safe to assume that the X9 cancellation danger is highly unlikely to ever happen.

The "milking the game trough stream donations" is really a bad argument considering JKB hasn't been streaming for months and his schedule has always been like that except for a couple of months that he was able to stream coding stuff we alreasy saw before. If that were true, it wouldn't have mattered if they were working on spoiler stuff to keep "milking" the project. At the end of the day, complaining about a free project is nonsensical imo.

Keiji Inafune did not create Mega Man, he only chose the color of blue for him. Mega Man was created by Akira Kitamura, not Keiji Inafune. Inafune did design work based off of Kitamura's design work.

Not gonna lie, been skeptical of this game for a long while now. Corrupted feels like the star citizen of fan projects. It doesn't help that, while Corrupted can't be sold for money for obvious reasons, the game can be endlessly streamed for monetization. The second the game did came out, the reason for watching the streams would disappear. The best thing the devs can do is release the game asap in a polished state, then use the reputation to launch a kick starter for their own ip inspired by megaman.

Don't know what the future holds but if their doing the streams less mean anything hopefully it's that they are focusing more on completion and saving content for when it's released to not spoil for people. On paper, Corrupted should be the greatest fan game ever made. In practice, it's a mess. Half of the reason it is now 15 years since it started is because JKB lost their data 7 years ago. Yes, he lost the entire game 7 years ago and had to start over. Didn't back it up at all, sheesh. The soundtrack is basically done, Doninic moved on eons ago. JKB has been adamant that he doesn't want donations OR help. Nor does he want to put out demos. Why? Doesn't want to raise expectations. Ok...but being in dev time for 15 years will inevitably raise them. Not to mention the Demake of X8 was made in 2 and a half years...intended to be made in ONE. I also question the decision to make it a Metroidvania. I know ZX sort of experimented with this and the base design is very much Mega Man Zero, but a simple level based structure would have been better. Metroidvanias have to account for the most minute details or they will become unable to be beaten.

I asked JKB many years ago, not sure if more than 7 , to for the love of god to backup his game, he said at the time that he has like 4 different backups in different external hard drives . I suppose it was after, then, anyway he had to remake it to move on from Flash, now it's on something else, watch him now port it to Godot engine before releasing it, which is basically starting over

What I do know is they are working on a boss rush mode, different side quest, new game plus content and the final four effects that makes the bosses and areas tougher depending on whatever 4 remaining mavericks are left

Inafune was overrated. Mega Man X1 is what Mega Man 4 should have been to begin with instead of creating a spin-off series. Zero could always debut in a Mega Man 6 for SNES or Saturn+PS1 etc.

another thing that we rarely consider is that , behind every fan game there are people with lives. balancing relationships, kids , jobs, hobbies , social and then adding on top of that working on a fan game and putting enough hours every week so it moves forward. it can be quite rough . lots of nights with little or not enough sleep for something you dont even get paid for, you just do it for the passion and wanting to share something to the community.

Man, I still have faith it WILL happen. The spreadsheet keeps getting updated, but it seems there's still work to do for the final stages and some other boss ones. Do I wish we had a demo? Yes, but I can live without one. The X8 demake will hold me over, and someone is already working on a mod for Axl and Zero to be in it. I can see Corrupted getting finished within a couple of years or so. I'd be happy if it was sooner, but there's still a ton of games between now and then. I just wish Capcom didn't neglect X so much.

Considering JKB hasn't been streaming Corrupted's development lately, leads me to believe that he and his team have begun to work on the final area and want to keep that secret because well, duh, massive spoilers. So if that's the case, then I'd say that's a good omen. If the game is about 85-90% done currently, it should _probably_ (and I mean _probably_ with a grain of salt) be made public sometime in 2027 or 2028. Personally I'd shoot more for the latter since it would be the year of the game's 20th anniversary

As far as the lack of MM games are concerned, IIRC the biggest issue was getting someone to just... do one, pertaining to why MM11 was the only new MM game in relatively recent memory. Something I learned the past few years is that one potential reason a series may remain dormant is because there is no one "championing" said series. It's the reason for why there hasn't been a new Killer Instinct game since the launch of the XBone despite how well it did (based on some statements from someone who worked on KI 2013). It's kind of the reason why there's no King's Field games anymore since Miyazaki said he (paraphrasing) would rather not try to continue someone else's series out or respect and wanted to stick with the Souls games. Also, MMX C is still a fan game no matter how polished it is. A fan game doesn't *have* to be low quality, haha.

Inafune is NOT the sole creator of Megaman, all he contributed is in some ideas and Zero, mostly Zero. Kitamura is the real creator of Megaman. Kamiya said it best, Inafune is a business man, not a game developer

Then you have to now find Legacy Bosses which contain old bosses from past games that is jacked up to be way harder but beating them will unlock that game armor for you and now you will habe your legacy armor

Open world 3D games have come a very long way since MM Legends, (which wasn't open world, but 3 was supposed to be iirc), but they don't seem to want to "go back" to that, as if doing so means they're not innovating... But Mega Man has never been about innovation.

There's a lot of comments already, but I haven't seen one that fully addresses a observation that I and others have: this is a fan work, a work of passion by a small number of dedicated fans that love the X series. There's a lot of those, and some have successfully released and some have not so far. I see many people look at X8 Demake and the demo to Innocent Impulse and think Corrupted should have been out by now because it was released really fast, but there are a number of key factors that I feel have slowed Corrupted's developments. One, is like a few people have said: it's hard to develop a game between other obligations. I believe everyone on the dev team has jobs, lives and other obligations that come first. Perhaps the developer to X8 Demake had less obligations in the way, allowing about a two year release window, but he also had a template to follow already. Is 15 years a bit long for Corrupted? Maybe, but that leads into point two. Point two of this post is that there has been a couple times of near complete revamps and redesigns to the game. Remember that it started as basically a rip of X1-3 assets, with barely any edits to speak of. It's far easier to assemble something if you already have the pieces...but at one point JKB elected to scrap using almost every Capcom made asset and gone with custom made ones. That alone could almost be considered a restart to the project. At another point, with the impending death of Flash, it was decided to port the entire game to Haxe, which was successfully done and from my understanding a good portion of the existing code was able to be repurposed, along with all assets, so it wasn't as much of a delay. If you exclude the original development years when they were all Capcom assets, I suspect the number of years for the game dramatically drops. About the only point in the development that I personally do not fully agree with is the adjustments and changes to graphics to areas that already got done. The intro stage alone has had quite a few alterations since the 1 hour video, some of them cool (the control room has a wireframe model of the airship for example now, like the c4 chip X2 and 3 had!), some of them cool but also kind of unneeded like revising the reactor room and the arena Strike is fought in. But it is not my project, and while I'm free to voice my opinions and disagreements...it's not going to change things. The art team and JKB got a vision and they're trying their best to achieve it. People should stop the nonsense claims of 'fake game', 'he's just milking for money', ect.

I'll play it when it comes (if I'm still alive). I'm of two minds. It looks like the best Mega Man X game ever made. On the other hand, it's against their best interests to not rush it for quality and monetary reasons. The game will suffer from a rush job and they probably get a decent amount of donations during streams but I don't think it's out of malice. Remember that they are just regular jack offs like you and I working their job and they are taking their own time making this for free. If the Marvel vs Capcom Beyond mod is taking as long as it is, imagine what starting this from scratch was like.

Let them cook. It's not just because we want TOO MUCH that they need to rush and deliver something nice 80% and then the last 20% is a crap (as a lot of games out there). I think we reached a point to just trust their work and hope to come out someday. If it doesn't happen it's life, even though is a lifetime work. I believe JKB and his team want to deliver the best experience possible since they love the franchise, but this is not a product after all, is more an artist doing his own thing and can take a lot of time.

​@@DumboyMikeyin X dive offline there's options so you deactivate the auto aim (so you shoot straight) and other things such as the enemy lifebars and on screen buttons and that way you can make it feel like a regular megaman X game to some extend

Also to add in the replay value. If you defeat four of the bosses the remaining four bosses go into the final four where the remaining four get stronger and the environment changes based on the bosses that are remaining so the playthrough can be different depending on what bosses you defeat and sigma class you face all the bosses in their strongest forms. If you defeat the legacy bosses you get the armors from their game like if you defeat storm eagle you get the x1 armor

@DumboyMikey respect yeah I didn't want to say too much as to not spoil but I figured I add that little detail because I thought that was impressive to add and to let people know why it's been taking as long as it has. With flash being discontinued and switching to haxe coding he also learned that the thing he couldn't put into the flash programming that he wanted to put in he can now add with haxe coding. Most of the time JKB was doing it on his own until later got a small team to help. They all do it on their free time when work or life isn't in the eay so it's hard to really get a true estimate of when it will release but I do feel when that time comes it will be worth the wait. The X8 demake came quicker because it was following the x8 formula but in 16 bit but also adding things that made it more useful. I think the X fan game community is in for more than we realize. Now once Innocent Impulse and Corrupted are done I'll be a happy man lol. Also I feel due to frustrations of waiting on the release it has unfortunately created a lot of rumors, misinformation etc but that's what comes with stuff like this lol

The sole creator of Megaman? Keiji started out as a concept artist. Megaman was made by a team of very talented people. It should be evident by how well Megaman 11 was received over Mighty Number 9.

My headcannon for axl is that he will die in the next arc after x8. Personally I believe he should be the main character in an x9 game. The virus survives through him as seen in x8 ending. Either he becomes a villain or he becomes a heroic sacrifice. It's also possible he survived upto omega's creation and fought him with x and zero like the archie comics, but he along with all the other characters like signas or alia was never mentioned in the zero series so that makes it a little muddy. Also he wasn't there when x and zero fought omega in the drama cd. Maybe everyone except x and zero died in the elf wars.

Here's my take on it: It would be nice if it did get released but I wouldn't hold my breath. That's my TL;DR As to my insane ramblings... For a project there's basically four reasons people do this listed in no particular priority: 1) Genuinely love whatever you're doing. This one doesn't require much elaboration. I was going to say as a tribute was the fourth reason but it can fit this into the first. Whether it's love for the thing itself or for someone else, regardless. 2) Attention/ego/reputation/etc. Call it bragging, fandoms, social climbing... whatever. You might think your intentions are purely achievement but they're not. If feedback is more than a procedural improvement mechanism, you're looking for praises. To be able to say "I did this" is halfway for recognition, halfway for prospect which leads me to... 3) Resumé items. Imagine having done something like this and putting it on the side of whatever experience and education you have. Or if you're going into business and want to be self-employed. Played right, this can put you far ahead of competitors. 4) The reason for projects in general is to create something you either can't afford to buy or which doesn't exist currently. Or both. =========== TBH I love that people are doing this the same way I love seeing tech projects, game mods, ROMhacks, and 3D content. It means in the current state the I.P. is loved. So even if all other fan games get released first. Even if it never gets released. The fact it's happening or at least appearing to happen is enough for me. And compared to some other I.P.s which have suffered horribly in recent years (looking at you Star Wars, Marvel, DC, and possibly GTA games in the foreseeable future) the X series of the megaman franchise being relatively dormant or dead doesn't bother me. Especially now with people giving objective retrospect takes on the franchise lore/story so far and finding it lacking in some ways... This is why, having grown up with the X series, I rather tend to love the simpler things. The way it was handled on the corporate level wasn't great...and the way corporations are going today, it would probably be repurposed into propaganda or something like that. Which is insulting. I'm not great at writing myself but I know it when I read/experience it. Been around long enough to know what the opposite is. As I get on in years, I have to focus on my own life. The world really sucks. Life has always been at least somewhat difficult. Hope and expectations are two different things that generally shouldn't be bound to each other unless it's tempered by what is realistic. I hope for better, but I don't expect it.

Look at Sonic he gets a ton of fangames and most of them are pretty good I can’t say which one is the best since I don’t play that much of them but Triple Trouble 16 Bit is on par with X8 Demake and even AM2R. Those three games I mentioned are arguably better than their original vanilla versions. And speaking of fangames Sonic Mania was made by fans for the fans, Megaman deserves his own “Sonic Mania”. In fact the closest thing to it was fans submitting Robot Master designs for the classic games and iirc Knight Man and Wind Man were from non Japanese fans.

Inafune is not the sole creator of Megaman. Megaman was designed as a Sprite first by Akira Kitamura and then Inafune drew the character art based on the sprite, not to mention Megaman 1 and 2 where famously team efforts, especially MM2. The content bloat for this game has been insane. The only thing they should have had on release was all the stuff they had shown off by 2012, 8 maverick stages, and fortress stages, with 3 difficulty selections max. Synthia, sigma class difficulty, most of these hunter base quests and interactions, all the old bosses, all the old armors, ALL of these things should have been post release updates. I speak for alot of fans when I say they really have added too much. Its hard to get excited for new content when you realize that its only going to push the release date back even further.

I dont think there is a way to "milk" this game. Since they can't sell it. If they go to sell this game then Capcom will slam them with cease and desist and copyright lawsuits. Putting it out for free can even be met with cease and desist actions. But thats where fan made stuff is able to be done. When it isn't infringing on existing products and isn't earning money off of another company's IP. In this case Megaman X hasn't had a game release in a really long time. Yeah legacy collection but this doesn't detract from those sales. The ONLY way Capcom has a case against the ones making this game is if they try to sell the game (not get investors or donations. But actual proceeds from sales) OR if Capcom puts out a legit X title and then this game gets put out around the same time. Because then people may just download the free to play Corrupted over buying the new MMX9. Then Capcom has a legitimate case. Otherwise fan made games aren't hurting any company and should therefore be left alone.
