It’s somewhat about gate keeping, but it’s also about the skill set used in the game. Platform Fighters are VERY different from traditional fighting games in terms of what skills make you successful. So that alongside the fact that the devs keep emphasizing that Smash is not intended to be competitive probably contribute to the differences. Not saying I agree, just sharing some possible reasons.

@@zechariahcaraballo8765 I get that some things in a game would change it from a fighting game. Like for fortnight it’s a battle royal shooter. But for the platform fighters it’s a stage that has little movement room compared to other games that may fall into the catagory but don’t cause of other features. Like monster hunter, or evil dead. I just figured even labeled as a platform fighter since it still has the basics of sided scroller combat with a twist it would fit, (twist being movement is more important than games like tekken and street fighter). Especially since even arena fighters qualify like the storm series or Demon slayer.

To be fair, Warner Bros. owns Netherrealm, so they have experience with publishing fighting games, and I think they've been involved in esports for MK and Injustice but I'm not 100 on that. The studio making MultiVersus is pretty much brand new, but they have multiple people who've worked on LoL in the past so I feel that does a lot for explaining things like the focus on 2v2, the perk system, and assigning characters into archetypes. Also I'm guessing bot matches still require online because it's an alpha and the devs want as much data as they can get. That or the whole game is just going to be always online.

"Training Perks" doesn't level them up, it allows you to gain perks that aren't normally on that character.

normally fighting games, just have characters that look different but are just reskins of smash characters, multiversus is making unique original movesets, inspired from smash not copied and that means that this game can be incredible

Watching this gameplay while being the Top 3 Jake in Multiversus put a smile on my face, honestly it's a really enjoyable game, I've played alot of fighting games in my time, traditional and platform, but I've been having alot of fun with this game, while I've been getting tired of games like Tekken and Brawl, this game just brought alot of mechanics and content for me to play, and it's been amazing so far even if it's just in Alpha, thanks for making this video I enjoyed it

@@BR-tt1wy you go to collection, go to your character, and it shows you what rank you are with the character, or you go to the top left/your profile, and you can see your rank in 1's and 2's, even if there's no ranked, people are still ranked worldwide, with or without character, I am a top 3 Jake and top 50 in 1v1's, it's really not that hard to see big man lol

I played this in the closed alpha as a Finn player and got top 105 :D , the game is really fun for 2v2s and 1v1s and I can't wait for it to out for everyone because this game has so much potential and it being crossplay and free means the community for it will be really active :)

Played this game that past days and I gotta say I love it. I really like how unlike in brawlhalla, the characters are really unique. I play velma because it's a character that differs so much from anything in brawlhalla. And not trynna flex (defenetly trying to flex) I got into the top 500 players and beat MegD :)

If you read what "perk training" does, it allows you to use coins to buy new perks for your character. Since each character only gets a few perks normally, using perk training allows you to get perks that don't normally come with your character.

I genuinly think Brawlhalla vs Multiversus has a great similarity, not only with the range of characters, but they both are free. I'm quite excited for this game coming out soon. this game has great potential, it seems a lot of people have their eyes on it, since it has so many loved characters and quite a large budget. especially those who want to play Smash Bros from the nintendo switch but do not own that system. I think this game will have a large audience and really could get competitive down the line. curious to see what other characters will be in the game (Also, if you're reading this, do you think they should add a story? so you understand Multiversus more, and know what the characters are and understand the controls more?)

There’s so much about MultiVersus that I love, and I also think that it does certain things a lot better than in Brawlhalla. The movesets feel authentic to the source material, everything feels like a giant homage to the original works, and the movesets aren’t just copied and pasted from other fighters. I also really like the team synergy gimmicks.

What annoys me about Brawlhalla's 2v2 is how much it encounrages bullying a single player, your attacks are easily interrupted by the other person, nothing discourages stacking both players and the respawn is so slow it gives them a window to kill your teammate without repercusions.

I played the game this 3 days and i must say the only real downside are the missions for completing the battlepass. They actually stops you from playing what you want and how you want because you have to "play as a mage character" or "get 40 assists", those type of missions don't get completed naturally and forces you to play what you don't want to. The grind will kill this game.
