That they should have clarified the budget question is clear, but the mother's reaction was just simply unkind. The mother of the bride ist just not as important as the bride.
@Yoruake893 жыл бұрын
That was the sentence that the mother said, that made me so angry. No it is her daughters and her son-in-laws wedding day. This day will celebrate their love and not the mothers or someone else. For me, it was not about the 200 $ over budget, for me it was about this mother disrespecting and suppressing her daughter the whole time while they visited the bridal shop. My mum would have never done so!

The daughter is old enough to pay the difference if she chooses to go over budget. $2,000 is a generous budget for a one day dress.

I totally agree an adult 'getting married' should be able to pay their expenses if not the whole amount then atleast some amount..
@ladennayoung29393 жыл бұрын
@@ishanika3038 Generally it was tradition for the father of the bride to pay for the wedding. I believe it was because it was the last time he would be taking care of his daughter prior to her getting married. It's not always about whether that person can or can't afford something. And even if someone contribute they should still be respectful to the bride or whatever the case maybe.

The mom was going to buy herself a dress. Selfish in every way! She couldnt steal the show, so no one was going to get anything! shame on you. Your antics, and behavior written all over her face were nothing less than disgrace, and sickening. The poor daughter probably wanted to vanish right off the stage. The moment was loss, when selfish mother got up from her chair. Pray she went on to find the most beautiful dress thru her eyes, and grace may her fairytale wedding be all that she dreams 💘

I get the feeling deflated because her mom was being overall not fully there for her, but at the same time (1) please don't put brides in dresses over budget without warning them and (2) if you do choose to put on a dress over budget, be prepared to pay for the difference yourself.
@lahawk29312 жыл бұрын
I did think about that, too. They often put them in a dress over budget and then nothing else compares. I saw one of these shows and the dress was $20 if I remember correctly. The dad upped his budget to make his princess happy.

I hate how the mother acted like that with the budget. You should always put your child first. Not spoil them of course but if it means you should go a little over budget for one of the most important events of THEIR life, you should give them what they need. She shouldn't be so controlling over what she wears or how much she spends because it's HER wedding, not the mother's. Meaning even if the mother get a really good looking dress, no one is even gonna be paying attention to her, they'll be paying attention to her daughter, the bride. My parents spoiled me since I was little only because I was a good child, if I did something bad, they wouldn't give me what I want which was rarely tbh. The way you treat your child could really affect the way they treat you, especially in the future. I hope she brought the dress because it really was a nice one for the bride

The fact that the mom cares more about herself than her daughter so openly like that should have been grounds for not inviting her to the wedding. Poor bride, her mother can’t even put her ego down to make her daughter happy for 1 second. She’s the mother of the bride, not the bride, no one cares what she wears so long as is doesn’t upstage the bride. This mom gives off the vibe that she would definitely try to wear something waaaaaaay more glamorous than her daughter for the attention.

Yes, but that is not the point. Your missing the fact that her mother seemed to enjoy telling her no while clutching her own dress. I think one of the other poster hit the nail on the head...she was hoping that they would put her in her dress and "embezzlement" her dress and do a mother daughter piece. After all she and her dress are as important as the bride's. She already tainted the appointment before the price came up by trying to steal the spotlight.
