7 жыл бұрын

While traveling throughout Tehran for MUNCHIES Guide to Tehran, Gelareh Kiazand was lucky enough to sit down with the Bahmaie family to experience a home cooked meal in Tehran. During the meal, the Bahmaie family shows us what goes into making two classic Persian dishes, ghormeh sabzi and shirin polo.

Iranians are the best dinner hosts. Iranians in general have a great humor and pride themselves in being great hosts. Foreigners are treated exceptionally. You know, I can relate to this family. My parents are practically the same, although we are from Libya, we have a very similar pattern. My father loves to cook, and my mother makes the best classic mother meals. I totally spend most of the time picking and tasting food while my mum shooo's me away hehe.. Anyways, I love Persian food, and Mediterranean in general. But then again I love sushi soooo much and Mexican tacos.

@@marmary5555 my girlfriend is Neapolitan and they have lots of dishes similar to Iranian food. As for Mediterranean culture and behaviour, nothing is closer to Iranian. It's practically the same. Family orientated. Food lovers, like nothing you've ever seen before. Love a good dance, anywhere. And generally mum = big boss, mafia. People kiss when they greet. And loads more. That goes for Greeks, Italians, Spanish and etc.

@robertcorbell1006

Hamza Tahir Absolutely. Behind closed doors, it's quite true and many in spite of the law are still able to find things like secular music, active sex lives both straight and gay, and alcoholic beverages as a number of Iranians have told me as well as people I've known from the UAE and other sharia-ruled nations. Were it not for the revolution as seen from all the old photos, Iran could very well have been like Turkey and Lebanon today treating the Islamic faith the way many Christians in the western world take a more easy approach to theirs and having a very progressive society when compared to Saudi Arabia, Algeria, and other places (including Iran) that hand out executions and whippings for the things I've mentioned. If only more understood that most people in these places would rather think like they do in more open societies.
