@@djmutt2000 I can't figure out what the "immigration aspect" is. That he was an immigrant, or that he was here illegally? The only aspect of that that's important, would be his own fear of deportation & his terrible choice of how to prevent that. But to the repetition of MLK's words, it gets used constantly in this manner, & even here, in response to a comment about immigration, would suggest a similar intent, but MLK was a radical, revolutionary, but a peaceful man. His actual efforts, opinions & hopes have been white washed, & poorly interpreted, & MLK would have been more interested in talking about the system of immigration, the treatment of people based on their skin or class, etc. Its a bizarre response to this.

@@AngieHighnessYou agree with trump because you’re not the demographic being targeted. He’s specifically targeting Hispanics, nobody cares about illegal European immigrants or illegal Asian immigrants. Hell, people don’t even care about illegal African immigrants. But as soon as someone’s Hispanic, whether they’re a legal immigrant, illegal immigrant, or even a fully fledged US citizen, people bring out the torches and pitchforks. When I lived down south I had Hispanic friends who were legal US citizens. Their whole families were legal, meanwhile they would be consistently targeted by Trump supporters. That man doesn’t care about illegal immigration, he only cares about money. He does nothing but sow hatred.

Andy sounds like one helluva husband to be that adamant to get the police to look further and to be present for her awards and create a fundraiser.... He obviously LOVED her so much. I hate he had to see her hanging. But if it wasn't for him, it would be classified as a suicide.

Dear Eleanor. First of all, I adore your content. I think the way you cover your cases is well structured, detailed, respectful and you are clearly passionated about true crime. That is why I was wondering if you would cover the Belgian case of Marc Dutroux. It is well know in Belgium and its neighbouring countries but isn't very known in the true crime community. The monster kidnapped, tortured and murdered several young girls. The case is interesting for many reasons but also the way the police/government handled the case, the outrage of the public and the current handling of him and his wife. I would be very eager to help translate dutch documents (naitive language) and help with French ones. For german documents all i can do is read them in a horrible german accent. I hope you ll consider covering it and good luck with your work! ❤️

I never write to you but I’m always watching your videos. I started in 2019 and haven’t stopped. Can you please do a video talking about “las muertas de Juarez”. This happened in Cd Juarez, Mexico. It was really bad years ago, women and girls ages 15-20 were getting kidnapped all over the city and ending up dead. It’s said that there was a serial killer, Abdul. But even after his death the femicides never stopped. The police never helped and always kept a blind eye. It would mean a lot for us if you did🙏🏻 most of the information is in Spanish. We have a Netflix documentary in regards to this and a movie. Please bring more awareness since most Mexican female youtubers cannot and will not talk about it due to their safety! Thank you Eleanor!

This! It is so tragic that so many women were murdered and disappeared who are being left nameless in media. I recommend the book “las hijas de Juarez” on the topic. It also comes in English, “The daughters of Juárez”. As a Mexican-American and daughter of immigrants, it’s the least she could do after calling Diego an illegal immigrant. That is a dehumanizing term and I seriously was repulsed every time it was said. The respectful term is undocumented immigrant. I understand she’s in the UK, but since this case is one that takes place in the US, I feel like that should be acknowledged.

Pregnancy and childbirth is still one of the biggest killers of women across the globe. We're literally being a host for a parasite, plus the hormonal changes, morning sickness which can literally kill you if it's severe, risk of pre-eclampsia/post natal eclampsia (rare but not unheard of), joint laxity and dislocation due to ligament elasticity increasing, hemorrhaging at ANY point during pregnancy/labour/birth, and a whole host of other conditions. Not to mention the increased risk of being murdered at the hands of the father of the child. I often wonder if pro-lifers know the TRUE facts and risks surrounding pregnancy, or if they are deluded by Hollywood portrayals.

For some people, pregnancy is all unicorns and rainbows. But for lots of people, it absolutely SUCKS. My first pregnancy was so laid back and easy (even though I did pee myself a couple times), but my second was HELL. I had hyperemesis, gestational diabetes, and anemia all at the same time. I was also just wildly uncomfortable. And then people will have the audacity to say "well you should just be grateful," or, "if you think you're tired now wait until the baby gets here!" Like, no. Shut up.
@mikaylaveilleux8019
@mikaylaveilleux8019 3 жыл бұрын
@@Emerald.She-Ra They absolutely are not educated on any of the risks. Ask a prolifer what the US maternal death rate is, ask them what placenta previa is. Ask them what week a fetus becomes able to "live" if it is born prematurely. Ask them what hyperemesis is, or what effects gestational diabetes has. Ask them how many labors end in an emergency c-section, or what precentage of pregnancies in general end in c-section. Ask them what the recovery time is for a c-section vs vaginal birth. Guaranteed they will know NONE or almost none of those answers. Because it isn't about women, or healthcare, or babies. Its just about control and about feeling better than other people. My pregnancies made me more prochoice than ever (I was always prochoice but now I'm passionate about it).

I appreciate how you put that detail in at the end. I took an immigration class in college that basically directly stated that if legal citizenship were easier to attain, immigrants would feel more empowered to report workplace misconduct, especially when it comes to pay. Companies like the construction facility in this video just know they are less likely to complain about low wages since they are likely to be deported for doing so. I hope all this discussion we’ve been having about low-paying jobs during the pandemic leads to more awareness about this in the future.

@@bri9366 Was my question not clear? Again, what does her comment have to do with the murder and how would it have prevented the murder if he was a LEGAL immigrant vs committing the crime of being in the country ILLEGALLY. His comfort of being an ILLEGAL immigrant is not of our concern, he committed his first crime by being in the country illegally and then committed murder, who knows what other crimes he committed in-between. As for making it easier, I will have to wonder if you are old enough to remember Sept. 11th (this is not sarcasm but you may be too young to remember the impact of that) and why our process should be VERY careful who we let into this country. All this garbage about we are all immigrants is so stupid, Every country was built by people coming into their countries, we no longer live in those times and things change. How easy do you think other countries make it for people coming into their countries. Try sneaking across a border in some of the middle eastern countries and watch what happens. I am sick of people making excuse for those who commit crimes, there are plenty of people waiting to get into this country LEGALLY. Those are the ones we want, the ones who follow the laws, not some person sneaking in over the border thinking they should have the same rights as our citizens. If you feel so strongly about it I do believe that you can sponsor some of these immigrants and you can become financial responsible for them until they are able to provide for themselves. Be part of the solution and stop expecting our tax dollars to be provided to those who commit crimes to get into this country. When you use words like "exploitation" and "undocumented workers" well employers could not take advantage of these illegals if they were here legally now would they. The idiocy of thinking that these illegals should have the same rights of you and I (assuming you are a citizen of the country) just baffles me. No one should be taken advantage of BUT if you commit a crime by being in this country illegally don't expect to be rewarded.

@@lisasmith5771 I’ll be frank, I didn’t read your entire comment. I am an immigrant, so I’ve heard all the arguments there are about “illegal immigrants taking advantage of the system.” I’ve had them spewed at my face since I was a child. All I will say is this: your fears aren’t based in reality. Your fears are based off of xenophobia. Undocumented immigrants are less likely to commit crimes than US citizens. This man who committed murder would’ve been a murderer regardless of his status. You are acting like being undocumented is a felony. It’s not. There is a reason why so many remain undocumented. The system is flawed. Unless you do the research I have done for many years, I don’t expect you to understand. Also, unless you are native, you don’t get to decide who is “illegal.” Fun fact: most undocumented immigrants are native.

Oh Eleanor, I'm so happy you're talking about Adrienne Shelly ❤ I grew up idolizing her and Hal Hartley, who to this day is one of my favorite directors. She is so radiant, so beautiful, so real, raw and intimate in his movies, there's no one quite like her. It broke my heart was she was found dead (I was 20), especially because her daughter was so young and would never get to truly know her mom, apart from her as an artist. Now that I have my own daughters, it makes me even sadder. Adrienne Shelly was such a special light shining on this earth. If you haven't, I urge you all to watch all the movies she stared in, and above all the ones directed by Hal Hartley. You'll thank me later. Her death is so...senseless. so brutal and unnecessary. It must have been so terrifying. I can't imagine being attacked, fighting for your life and knowing that you could, imminently, and for no reason, be riped forever from your loved ones, from your life. That man...insisting he "wasn't a bad person". I don't have enough words. If you don't want someone to have to call the cops on your ass, how about you try and not rob or assault or murder anyone.

Eleanor you are such a beautiful person and tell these cases so sensitively. Please can you cover Alice Ruggles. Such an important case.

I always wanted kids but I wanted them in a vanity way. It wasn’t until my friends children started getting older I came to realize what a huge responsibility it is to create a good human. Society is not honest with us about how difficult pregnancy and parenting is. At 44 I am thankful I didn’t have children and love my child free life. I’m thankful that Adrienne was able to provide a real depiction of reality for pregnant women. Rest In Peace Adrienne!

I remember watching waitress at a very young age and thinking to myself how relatable all of the characters are and how real the movie was. How much her character Dawn was like me. it is one of my favorite movies in the whole world and I just cannot believe that she is the one that made it happen. I feel so connected to her in a way that I didn't know I could. Im gonna watch it when I can stop crying.

It's so sad I can't believe such a young guy could do that . Whenever I see a young kid like him I never feel afraid but now I know I can't be that naive

Currently 6 months pregnant and it is the worst thing ever. My skins is more broke out than ever (evan as a teenager it wasn't nearly as bad) back pain, stretch marks, family fighting about who's getting what for baby, who's planning baby shower, saving money, needing a new car, new home, all in just under 9 months
