I mean, look at it from his perspective. It seems like every time he "lets his guard down" to have a little fun, something always goes wrong. At the Victory Party, I know he wasn't there for security purposes, but I bet he is thinking that if he would have been more alert or vigilant, then maybe those people wouldn't have died to Tyrian. And we know from his past that his father always told him to "take action" instead of running away. Ren's probably wanting to go full blown headlong with Ironwood's plans in order to be able to save Remnant and never have to worry about people being in danger again.

I understand the idea of telling them at the beginning but hindsight’s 20/20. How could they have known that Ironwood could be trusted? They just came from a school where the headmaster not only aligned himself to Salem but gave some of ozpin’s secrets up to her. Furthermore, Blake has a point in this episode, Ironwood was already tired, overworked, stressed, and frankly going crazy. How could they then tell him that Salem couldn’t be killed and worsen the situation. It’s not their fault to be skeptical, rather it just worked to Salem’s advantage. She keeps winning because non of our characters have learned the difference between unity/trust and dependence/reckless blind faith.

Exactly....I've seen some reactors giving Ruby soo much shit for keeping the truth from Ironwood; saying that she is just like Ozpin...but in reality, she's nothing like Ozpin. Ozpin only trusted himself and kept important details/information from everyone...even those closest to him that had proven themselves trustworthy. Ruby, on the other hand is not doing that. She is only holding information until the person can be trusted. The only issue is, that by the time they can trust Ironwood, too much has already gone down that telling him now would make things much worse. And that's the key difference between what Ruby's doing and what Ozpin did. Ruby has every intentions of telling truth, she's just making sure they can trust Ironwood and company. Ozpin planned on keeping the truth hidden for as long as possible until it was safe to finally reveal it, if at all.

I think people(myself included) were mad because it seems like blatant hypocrisy to come down so hard on oz in vol 6, making a big deal about them being better than that, and then to turn around keep secrets at the start of the next vol. Regardless of her/the groups intent to tell later its still keeping secrets and lying just like oz. And while I do agree they were gonna tell about salem, can you honestly tell me any of them have any intention of admitting that the relic of knowledge still has a question left? And I feel people are more likely to give oz a pass because its been strongly hinted that people he has let in possibly to the entire truth have turned their backs on him or worse turned against him. Case in point Lionheart and Raven.

I don't understand the people who can't understand where Ozpin is coming from, because I completely understand why he did what he did. No one is perfect, hell look at what Ruby and the others are doing, being hypocritical by not telling Ironwood that Salem can't be killed, they're lying to him/giving him half truths, doing the exact thing that they hated Ozpin for doing. Humans are complicated creatures, we are also incredibly greedy and selfish, if people knew about the relics and the fact that Salem couldn't be killed, there would be absolute HELL. People would lie, cheat, steal, to get what they want. Of course not everyone, but even a 5 percent would still be huge, you'd never know who you could trust. That's why Ozpin only told a select few, every time he was reborn, I mean look at what Leo did, he betrayed Ozpin's trust, look at what Raven did, betrayed Ozpin's trust. He doesn't tell everyone everything because he has been through the wringer and knows what people are capable of doing. (The good and the bad) And look at what Ruby and co are doing, not telling everything to Ironwood, not telling everything to the people of Mantle, just like people are complaining about Ozpin.

Here's my Foreshadowing Theory... Ironwood said "Oz once speculated it could take us as high as we wanted." During the grimm attack, and Amity Colosseum gets destroyed, Ironwood uses the limitless power of the Staff of Creation to lift Atlas itself up into the upper atmosphere and Atlas Tower reestablishes worldwide communications. ...and all the wealthy people have to evacuate back down to Mantle. No provisions for air at that altitude for it's entire population. How the mighty will have fallen. They will have to share Mantle's destiny once more.

The best parts of the episode. Nora actually having character and not just being a living meme running on cartoon random humor logic. Yang and Blake talking about Adam and showing that it actually had an effect on them as well as taking a risk to try trusting Robyn. Not to mention it shows how far ahead they are of nearly everyone else with their combat strategy and synergy as a team alone. Robyn is an aged graduate huntress and they fought her into submission. Honestly I hope the decision doesnt come back to bite the two and if it does I hope Blake takes the fall cause Yang doesnt need to go through any more. Let blake save her for a change to fully make up for the past. And last but not least. The actual Chad of the Happy Huntresses May shows off how her invisible AT field works from their inner perspective.

@@williamharmon4039 but Yang was strong enough to beat Adam one on one before having training and updating her team synergy with Blake. Adam was powerful enough that legit Huntsmen older than him seemed to either be wary of taking him on or likely died trying. Kinda takes the logic back to V3 with the tournament. It makes sense that students of all four years would be competing because that doesnt necessarily dictate tha th a second year is gonna beat s first year just cause they're an upperclassman. Team CFVY was as good example of relying on nothing but brute force against a rogue and monk class and got trashed because of it. Blake and Yang now work well enough that they are like the team foil to Emerald and mercury. Monk and rogue. Which is a pretty deadly and hard to fight combo for a lot of people. Especially if its 2v1. Tyrian would probably be able to take them with some small effort but hes an absolute mad lad.

@@daysand123 When did she beat him one on one? Adma cut off her arm effortlessly and the next time they fought she had backup from Blake, and there was no indication that they needed to work on their synergy there that I can recall or that they have specially worked on it since then.

@@williamharmon4039 that fight was all Yang. Blake got tossed around and immediately thrown out as soon as she tried to help. She got a few minor hits un but nothing else. Also when he cut her arm off it was a luck of the draw because of the prior buildup putting her conveniently I'm a position where he would easily be able to take her out without having to fight. Which is his biggest flaw because he relies too much on his semblance which requires a conduit to use where as Yang can absorb all the force through blocks and any direct hits. Which also makes her less reliant on taking hits and just using her semblance if she has the energy stored away. Which is why she rarely uses it more than a couple times or even once per season all the way up till V4 where she doesnt use it for nearly three whole volumes until the second to last episode of Volume 6 where she does the old fashion letting Adam/enemy waste their energy and resources throwing a tantrum while she wears them down via getting hits in and blocking or dodging their attacks while absorbing energy to let loose when needed. Her biggest advantage in the fight was pushing herself to get over her insecurities and emotional self doubts and Blake helping her keep from having a mental breakdown and him getting in her head. Which it would have been helpful if someone had bothered teaching her about not letting enemies use her emotions against her in the first place rather than just trying to blame the semblance that was already rarely used prior.

After some time thinking about Oscar/Ozpin’s relationship, I like to think of it this way: Oscar is kind of like the next avatar. If he is Korra, then Ozpin is Aang. He was simply the next child that fate chose to incarnate, and the torch gets passed on from master to student, and so on. Maybe the reality isn’t that Oscar will disappear, but that Ozpin will as Oscar grows into his power and responsibility. Eventually, Oscar might have to say goodbye to his teacher. Once he finally understands that “Ozma” isn’t the name of the identity forced onto him, but the given name of his gold heart/personality. Oscar is Ozma. Ozpin is only his guide. Symbolic of life and death as the torch gets passed on to the next generation of “simple honest souls”.

"Jacques are you really sure you want to do this...?" Yes, it's the perfect timing for him. It's exactly what he's after - to poke Ironwood until he loses his temper, then smugly use that as a club to beat him with. It's an old, old-fashioned method of beating political opponents. The fact Ironwood is being pushed, nibbled at, and framed - and Jacques likely knows about the frame job, and thus can guess Beacon was similarly done - is what is going to make it all too simply for our newly elected Council member to get the General to break and do something rash. Something costly. It's also likely Watts didn't have full access to the systems until Jacques made it easier - perhaps a few key routines he could toy with to spoof cameras briefly so he could keep himself from showing up on them. (A man supposed to be dead... Side-bet: Tyrian Callows' rap sheet has his murder on it.)

The technological superiority of Atlas has nothing to do with the staff of creation. The staff can only do one thing at a time, and it currently keeps the city afloat.The people of Atlas live in such harsh conditions that they needed to quickly adopt new technologies to survive. They also have access to the largest amount of dust compared to other kingdoms, so the can get a lot more creative with it.

I like the way this episode framed the perspective of the authority. For once, we get to see the “government” deal with the vigilante force; and actually see how the leader has to make decisions for the good of the world rather than the classic selfish villain trope.

This one was a bit of a downer, mainly because with the exception of the Blake and Yang story we're checking in on how miserable everyone is with the current state of affairs. -Up until now, Ironwood has done a solid job of putting on composure and a strong facade in the face of everything that's happening, but now that mask is starting to slip. He's going from "I accept if people see me as the bad guy" to "I'll be the bad guy if I have to and I expect all of you to fall in line." We now see that the fall of Beacon had a heavier toll on him than initially suggested. Despite his claims of not going to fail like Lionheart, it seems apparent that he's going down a similar path of self-destruction. If fear was Lionheart's downfall, pride could do the same for him. His scene with Oscar implies how much of his ego is bruised and a lot of what he's doing is to fix mainly that. -Despite still taking place mainly in the margins of the story (which I'm not very fond of), the ReNora story takes an interesting turn here. First of all, I'm glad the kiss didn't magically solve everything and putting Ren on the same ideological side as Nora. I love how she's speaking out in favor of the citizens of Mantle so passionately, likely because she sympathizes with them from experience. Meanwhile, Ren seems a bit keen to fall in line with Ironwood. I wish we spent more time going over what's going through his head when he makes these decisions. Still, my understanding is that given his frustration with a lack of a plan to do anything about Salem, he's following Ironwood because he's the one closest to having any kind of plan. It was pointed out to me how this could be related to the advice his father gave him long ago, that the worst action is not taking action at all. He's obviously torn here between Nora and his friends and also his duty and I wish more time was spent with him. -Good to see this chapter do stuff with Blake and Yang that wasn't just fluff. It's a nice touch to give them their own autonomy on the situation and let them make their own calls over what's best to do. I'm still not sure whether they'll be much mileage for Robyn being in on the Salem mission, but we'll see. -So, if Penny is destroyed again, Pietro won't be able to rebuild her because the process would literally kill him. That's not foreboding or anything...

prediction : the staff is going to be taken and they're gonna use the last question to ask how it can be stopped and the answer is by using the lamp as a catalyst rather than the staff (remember the relics only SUPPLY energy, they arent using the staff to create a floating world they're using the energy to sustain it) like how the lamp itself created an entire desert yet that had nothing to do with its primary ability of questioning makes me wonder why not try using the lamp to speed up the process of amity coliseum though (other than it being obviously very risky placement of the relic)

I just picked something up watching this reaction I didnt before. Ironwood said the Staff of Creation's current purpose is to serve as an infinite energy source to keep Atlas afloat. That means, if the Staff is stolen, and given a new purpose, ATLAS WILL FALL! Literally. Could Salem's plan be to destroy both Atlas and Mantle in one fell swoop?

I feel like we're getting to see Oscar come into his own, and we're seeing the similarities of the like-minded souls. The mannerisms are from muscle memory and old habits, and I think the experience Oscar's gained these last few volumes has allowed him to become a little more confident. It's cool to see him like this -- he still sounds like Oscar, but he also sounds more mature. It makes sense for his character to react this way, and I'm super intrigued.

This episodes was really wild to me mostly because of Nora. We all know she’s been a little bit of a side character and has been mostly used as comedic relief, and when we have serious situations she sits in the back looking worried with all the other side characters. In this episode though, she stood up for her opinion on the matter and seemed more like a main character with a bit more depth and a more complicated reason why she doesn’t believe or agree with Ironwoods ideas for Mantle. I’m actually a little excited for what they are going to do with Nora for the rest of the volume and the actions they will have her take and I’m glad people don’t just know her as “the funny one” or “Ren’s significant other” anymore, but as a serious character who can greatly impact the actions of the “main characters” in this volume

Unstable Beast for a while now the stylish weapon design philosophy has been kinda put on the back burner. In the beginning Monty had the weapons designs and functions be a sort of self expression of user. Having more of an artistic flair over the newer seasons generic Fantasy weapons. Lots of grays and browns and usually only having one form.
