How does the Hanwei Blind Fury Zatoichi Sword ($165) compare to this one?

This sword has a FAKE hamon, but the shape, finish & feel of the sword were better than I thought they would be. It is also full tang, but was incredibly hard to get the sword apart as it had a tight fit & some rubbery glue on the tang. The grip & saya are also teardrop shaped with the thin side towards the edge, helps feel where the edge is & which way it's facing since with no curve an oval handle wouldn't allow you to feel which direction the edge is in

There is a few bits of info that are false i have the curved version of this sword and it is not heat treated the way he says its a brushed hamon

Great review! I was I could get that with a slightly longer handle and shorter blade.

The edge isn't tampered differently I'm almost positive all musashis hamons are wire brushed

Musashi s Musha swords definitely have fake hamons but their moslre expensive swords, even 9nes at about $130 & up, often have real hamons. Although they tend to be made from one steel type.

Is that a real hamon?

My main problem with this review is that he said it's differentially hardened, but the Hamon is brushed.

Odd to cut with a blade in storage-fittings. Shirasaya was how a blade could be more easily stored when not in use.
@HittoTheAssassin3 жыл бұрын
correct. the Shikomizue was a hidden sword.

I did a video using one of these swords as a base to make a Korean Jikdo; Korean single edge, straight bladed katana like sword with minimal guard. This sword has a FAKE hamon, but the shape, finish & feel of the sword were better than I thought they would be. It is also full tang, but was incredibly hard to get the sword apart as it had a tight fit & some rubbery glue on the tang. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aqu8dKpqbMSBiqc

Great video as always, though I think it's worth mentioning that shirasaya is just for mounting or storing a blade, not for functionality. I can see a lot of customer complaints about the bamboo pin breaking easily.
@hohanrodanrodan96246 жыл бұрын
Could see that is.

He also said that it's differentially hardened, but the Hamon is fake.

It's not so much a concern about the pin breaking as the wood handle splitting along it's seam. The cloth wrap on katana handles does a lot for the overall integrity. Could easily wrap it and all would be well in the cosmos.

it comes from an old Japanese movie series called Zatoichi, the blind swordsman. his cane is a sword so it is supposed to look like this. now this particular one is from the 2003 remake.
