The whole fight with the Doldia girls was perfect to me. Rudy pulling out the Eris power pose at the start, then the call back to the paralyzing beast scream that the dog girl attempted to do before Rudy hit her with the powder (showing he learned from his last encounter with Doldia tribe), then the animation and hilarious sounds from the girls, then topped off with Julie popping out of the bush looking adorable.

So instead he opted for a huge AoE dust blast to silence them, while sending Zanoba on Pursena to buy him time. It wasnt until how easily Linia went down that he realized he could ve just knocked them out with a few flicks

In the LN Rudy already told them about how he knows Gyes when he met them. Trashing on someone's faith is punishable by death in the MT world. As redicilous as it sounds, Rudy having a "relic" and his seriousness was more than enough proof that they trampled on someones faith so they got scared.

@@sadcat1176 The problem is "skipped" content is sometimes skipped for a reason. Some details are just skipped and then mentioned in the future in a different context. For example the detail of Rudy having similarities to Laplace was originally mentioned by Demon Emperor Kishirisu. However Orsted mentioning it first in the anime was much more impactful. The Laplace Factor plot line has huge payoff and its pretty important where these mentions come in.

linia and pursena were actually terrorizing the academy. bullying everyone, fighting and extorting them. zanoba got a taste of their medicine when they forced him into a duel and have what seemed as his most prized posession be part of the bet. only to use their voice magic (paralyzing roar) and have their way with him. i dont hate them, they act like their race is supposed to act, they have to be alphas, they need to be top dogs, they only follow and respect the strong, everything below them is to be used and abused.

Others will likely point this out but in the Light Novel they make it clear that these two beast girls are a real menace. They treat people fairly poorly. Bullying those weaker than them. The anime did not really show that too well. This is not a major complaint most of the episode was adapted very well. I've been waiting for this episode for years. Yes the anime does kind of portray these two as delinquents but only if you really pay attention to their demeanour and words etc. But they are pretty bad! They are pretty strong too so not many people can defend themselfs. In fact besides Fitz and Ariel's circle they pretty much rule the university doing as they please even if it hurts others. if I remember correctly they fight Fitz and or Ariel and if it was not for Fitz even Ariel may have been at the mercy of these two beast girls. So there is bad blood between them and Fitz already. Also they are like royalty in their own right. They are your typical bullies in a school system that does not really care about the students. Meaning they can kind of act as they please with very few people capable of putting them in their place. They are very spoiled brats. This makes the revenge they get in this episode feel a lot more justified. Of course the touchy touchy is still awkward as intended. But Rudy was told by god that he would find his cure here at the school so he is "experimenting" to figure out what the cure will be. Oh god Rudy. Rudy is still in depression so he is kind of relapsing and doing desperate things. Not that I say what he did can be justified. But Rudy is Rudy. I love this episode by the way. It's ridiculous.

@@Ozoluz Yes every bit of context can matter when it comes to things that are questionably unethical or at least part of Rudy's development etc. I'm glad that in the discussion portion of this episode they actually seemed to get the perspective more than I think the average person does. It shows that they really do follow series closely. This is one of the best reaction channels. But your right Ozoulz the anime could make certain things more clear. I even miss the subtle stuff like I'm 95% sure I remember that Rudy made that pillow himself? You could have included that in like 10 seconds in the final scene. He’s not ashamed of his “relic”, but it’s pretty reasonable to be worried that someone important to you would take it the wrong way and he would lose them as a friend. He’s confident in what meaning and value it has to them personally, but he knows that most people won’t understand it that way. Showing it to Linia and Pursena was an emotional impulse and it was a situation where he believed showing it was necessary and would be something they would understand in that context.

In reality he worships the one who was IN those panties, and that pair just happened to be on that person during a certain action he witnessed her perform. It's the same as with any other relic, it's either a part of a revered person or something they've had, giving a connection to that person despite their absence.

One thing for clarification is that Rudeus's Demon Eye is what gives him the edge in phisical combat. Linia and Pursena are phisical fighters and they have native spells from their tribe, such as the paralyzing scream Geyes use in Rudeus is season one and Pursena was about to use before the battle. Thats how they win most fights. Pursena paralyzes them with the scream and Linia beats the shit out of them. thats how Zanoba lost

I appreciate how you two really pay attention to the story. Curing his ED is in the forefront of his mind. Due to what man god says. "Is this going to cure me?" That's what he's thinking, classes, interaction with students etc. all these things in an effort to rid himself of the ED. With the way Rudeus is now, he would have never copped a feel. He doesn't want people to hate him. It was an honest to goodness experiment, if this was it... if this was the cure to his 2 year long suffering.

If you guys were wondering, Rudy's Roxy based religion has her representing the concept of the Goddess of Wisdom. So Rudy's idea of having her as a goddess is not even a cover, it's a genuine religion to him. Also, symbols are important to Rudy to assign meaning to the big figures of his life, think of back the episode where he kept thinking of Roxy while holding the panties, and when he was thinking of Eris by holding the remains of her hair.

When Sylphy took out those Doldia girls and their 20 underlings, she ruptured her own eardrums to counteract Pursena's vocal magic. Rudeus just choked her before she could cast it.

The following is a rough, brief summary of a backstory of "Fitz-Ariel vs Linia -Pursena" included in the Mushoku Tensei novel which the Anime adaptation skipped over (for anime pacing). Hopefully, some of Anine-onlies will find it an interesting read. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Those two beastfolk girls once were the leaders of an infamous gang of 20 or so beastfolk deliquents at the school. When the princess Ariel was getting increasingly popular, admired and gaining more influence in her 1st year at the school, they (the 2nd year students back then) were pissed off about Ariel's good reputation being in stark contrast with that of them. (They were well aware that their social/political status in the beastfolk society is something akin to princess of a human-race kingdom, which made them even more pissed off). So they instigated their surbordinate deliquents to harass, bully her such as spitting out when passing by Ariel, stealing Ariel's panties to hang up it in front of the male student dorm and so on... On the other hand, Ariel saw it as a good opportunity to establish herself as a hero putting an end to the tranny of the infamous gang. She plot a scheme with Luke, Fitz and others to grab the chance. The incident took place in the lunch time at noon when all students were moving to the school cafeteria. Linia & Purusena were with their subordinate deliquents and when they encountered Ariel (and Fitz, Luke and other attendants), they attempted to harrass her with their usual everyday insulting remark on Ariel, to which Ariel responded by making an outright racist mocking remark (such as comparing their tribe to animals and the two girls to horny she-dog/she-cat in the mating season), but by saying in a way that no one nearby but the two girls only could hear it. Upon hearing the insult and seeing Ariel to pretend to be innocent and stubbornly deny she said anything mean like that, Linia & Pursena got infuriated and eventually openly assaulted Ariel with their pack of 20 or so deliquents in a public place. Against the assault, Fitz, being well prepared in advance, fought and pounded the 2 beastfolk girls and the gang of 20 or so deliquents into dogmeat, effectively single-handedly, guarding the princess Ariel and leaving Luke and the other attendants very liitle work to do. Many students witnessed it in the school lunch time . In the aftermath of the incident, the gang of the deliquents all got expelled from the school. After all, they openly assaulted the 2nd princess of the most powerful and the richest country in the world and all the students who witnessed the scene testified that Ariel was an innocent victim of unilateral insults and a gang assaults and she did not anything provocative to the two beast girls as that is what they - wrongly but genuinely - believed happened from their point of view. And the two beastfolk girls (Linia, Pursena) barely escaped being expelled thanks to "the political consideration" regarding the fact that their status was something similar to the two oldest princesses of the two major & hegemonic tribes (the Dedoldia Tribe & the Adoldia Tribe), thus the most likely candidates for the future chief of the beastfolk society. Having lost all their subordinate deliquents and being under surveillance of school authorities afterwards, they had no other choice but to shape up to be a model (?) student. When they said to Rudeus something like "We have shaped up ... we are now busy model students ... so pick a fight with someone else" in S2 EP 7, they had that incident and its aftermath in mind. Talking about Ariel, she became student council President next year (her second year at the school), scoring a landslide victory in the election out of the gratitude of the students, all according to her plan. And Fitz's crushing victory over Linia & Purdena + 20 or so beastfolk deliquents in a broad daylight combat became a school legend known to every student at the school, which is why the gorila girl student and the others got scared at her threat in S2 EP 5. As of S2 EP 5-7, Linia & Pursena are in their 5th year at the school and Ariel and Fitz are 4th year students (Year 422 of the Armored Dragon Era). So the incident took place about 3 years ago (Year 419 of the Armored Dragon Era), around the time Rudeus traveled together with Eris and Ruijerd across the Central Continent heading to the Fittoa region of the Asura Kingdom.

So one aspect to note. You may notice that the two Beast people always default to the whole being stripped naked and doused in water thing. It's like the ultimate punishment to them as it humiliates them. All Beast people hate it mostly due to pride and what could be more shameful then that? The culture of Beast people is a very animal-like culture. The strong are at the top and the weak are at the bottom. These two in particular are quite nasty and rule the roast as it were doing whatever the hell they want and picking on whoever they want. However like most animals if you beat the top dog you're the new top dog.

So in terms of Paul vs Soldat; Both are S ranked adventurers. Paul is Advanced rank in North God, Sword God, and Water God styles. Soldat is Advanced in Sword God and Intermediate in Water God. While Paul had a few years off of adventuring raising his family, in a fight, Paul would kick Soldat's ass. While he's "only" advanced rank, Paul is roughly Saint tier in terms of his actual skill he just doesn't know Saint tier techniques. Eris when Rudy last saw her could probably take Soldat (she's unofficially Advanced rank as of the last time we saw her, but was trained by Ghislaine and Ruijerd. And remember "North Saint" Gallus Cleaner? Well, he was a Saint in the North God style...and Rudy managed to pull off a win there a long time ago. Ruijerd, meanwhile, is unquestionably the strongest fighter Rudy's run into other than Orsted. The styles are all for *swordsmen*, Ruijerd, being a spear user, would be classified as a "warrior" and they don't have different styles...but Ruijerd's skill puts him on the Emperor tier. ...well, the strongest fighter that Rudy's run into other than Orsted who appeared in the anime. He did meet one other person above Ruijerd in the LNs by this point, but the anime skipped that scene. ....and you saw what the Dragon God Orsted did to Ruijerd.

About the severity of their punishment, I think it came from how Rudeus absolutely hates bullies because of his past and Rudeus noticed that Zanoba was bullied by the doldia girls when they were introduced but at that point, he was trying to stay clear out of trouble because he don't want to get bullied again at school in this life. So maybe he did it to make sure The Doldia Girls never ever bullies anyone again?

Two very minor missing context that's quick and fun to read. And relevant I think to the discussion portion this episode. 1. Rudy tells the beast girls when he first meets them in class that he knows the chief etc. They are shocked. I don't think he goes into to much detail though. That would have taken place in episode 5? I forget what episode he first goes to the University. 2. I am 95% sure that Rudy made that pillow at the end of the episode. I think Rudy even tells Fitz how it's made or maybe in the Light Novel Rudy just tells the readers how it's made. But yes I forget what he put in it or if it was an idea from our world or not. But if I am not mistaken Rudy made that pillow. Nothing important but there are things like that missing from Season 1 as well. Tiny world building things. They involve small aspects of the world, how it may differ from ours and glances into Rudy's personality and simple life goals. I'm kind of sad that Rudy's rice quest line is kind of missing. Rudy has a side quest to eat a fine rice meal. It has several meaningful scenes as far back as mid season 1. His Rice side quest is more plot relevant than it rightfully should be. But it's absent from the anime. Things that make Rudy feel more complete in the Light Novel. And more like a person.

A second comment I want to make is kind of a comment to light novel readers only. I'm not mentioning spoilers. At least not in the way you think I might. Avoiding all spoilers only talking about stuff that has already come to pass by this point in the light novel. You may not want to read if your an anime only watcher as I'm discussing skipped or missing content that may appear later in the anime. EVEN THOUGH THIS IS NOT DIRECT SPOILERS YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. Do you think the anime will give us a greater flash back of what happened with Ariel and Fitz travels? Like as an OVA like Eris the Goblin Slayer? I'm sure a lot of people provide the details of that OVA as missing context only for the anime to add it in further down the line. For Autosave or others who do not know there is quite a bit of context missing between Ariel and Fitz. It's not sexual don't worry. lol When is it "safe" to just tell them a brief rundown of the missing stuff? It might be to soon. However I will say not knowing it changes how we kind of view Fitz, Luke and Ariel. As well as the missing characters in Ariel's group. The anime may never bring it up. I kind of want to roughly say some of it. As in the Light Novel I think we are aware of it by now. In fact I went and checked it's context from like VOl 5 and 7 I think. So yes we are "suppose" to know well before now. However sometimes things are slightly out of order in the anime or there could even be an OVA like I mentioned. Most of you are probably thinking what I'm thinking. Like the Journey from the castle or whatever to the University what Fitz and Ariel endured. Or even the skirmish between Ariel/Fitz and the two beast girls which I forget most about and it's less important than the first thing I mention. Readers of the Light Novel see Fitz in a different way as the anime portrays them. It's kind of a shame. It's even removing a lot of Fitz accomplishments. In the Light Novel we know full well how powerful Fitz is. In the anime you can guess but you would never imagine some of the things they went though. But I don't want to give specifics if the anime is going to give like a flash back etc. But still it makes Rudy beating Fitz so much more amazing. Even though Fitz could have been unable to go all out on Rudy. It's still clear who won that duel. It paints Fitz in a different color. I may have already said to much I fear. If the anime never goes into it. I will be upset. At some point it will be up to us to deliver the missing context but when? Do you think it's best to wait until the end of the first core? End of whole season 2? I don't feel like it will be second core content though. Unless it's a OVA. I'm not going to say anything and I know this is sketching the lines between spoilers as for light novel readers it's old information. But the anime is clearly taking a different path with delivery. Still there is plenty of missing context that may never come back up again. I think we should wait until end of core 1 at least though.

There's a detail that was swapped a bit when Rudy was taunting Linia. Originally (Well, in the manga, no clue how it was in the WN/LN), he didn't say "Can't you beasts speak human?", which is a kinda racially charged statement, but rather "Aren't beast people supposed to drop the 'Nya' when they grow up?", implying Linia still talks like a child. I liked that one more because it shows that Rudy knows about Beast People culture, and probably cuts deeper than a general racist comment. ALSO, Yes. Originally Rudy mentioned Gyes as soon as he met them. In fact, Linia decided to leave him alone and not start beef with him at first because of that connection; she brings it up when he confronts them. Edit: the Julie/Zanoba dynamic is adorable. Not only his first thought was to name her and treat her like a sibling, but she looks up to him for protection and as a reference to how she should be reacting to situations. None of that is said, only implied. I love it. Edit 2: You need to consider that Roxy was a lifeline for Rudy after Eris left. In a way, he's probably as grateful to Roxy for just existing during that period (End of S1 and couple of first episodes fo S2) as he is for her bringing him out of the house. You could say that first moment extends into the second. He used, or tried to use what he learned with Roxy when he was 4 years old when this pit of depression struck. Hence why he became SO attached to the relic and EVERYTHING Roxy related.

That was enough to make her legs jerk and wobble. I struck my fist against her temple, sending her to the ground, where I put my foot on her chest and hit her with a stone cannon. A pleasant boom echoed around us. “Gyamew?!” Linia was out like a light. I lifted my foot off her body, now splayed like a frog on the ground. The impact of our battle had flipped her skirt up. Hm, so she’s wearing white ones today. I turned my gaze toward Zanoba and Pursena. We’d planned for him to go after the rear attacker, the one that would use Vocal Magic, and he was doing just as I’d instructed. Pursena was fleeing on all fours, and she was fast… actually, no. Zanoba was just slow. He really needed to work on his running speed. I conjured a quagmire in front of Pursena. Her feet were suddenly sucked into the mud and she faceplanted into it. At the same time, I used my magic to harden the sludge. “What?! What is this?!” Pursena panicked, trying to pull her body out of the solid earth. I used my left hand to aim a stone cannon at her. “Gyah?!” There was another satisfying boom, and Pursena fainted. It was over.

Those people falsely accused him, threw him in a prison butt naked and threw dirty cold water on him daily for an entire week, didnt give him a chance to explain himself either. Things would have been even if he did the same thing and locked them in butt naked for a whole week. I as a humble disciple of the great Kazuma stand for equality.

well if you didn't get it through what they were doing last episode deary, then the complexities of it are never going to make sense to you. It was obvious through how Rudy acted that the only person who could "save" Julie is Julie, sure he could burn the place to the ground and kill all the slavers in it, but if Julie was still desperately broken and dead inside that wouldn't "save" her, she'd still be dead inside, as would any and all of the other slaves. The only thing he needed to hear was that she didn't want to die, that then gave him the knowledge that she can want to live at some point. The divorcing between understanding emotions and the need to spell it out for people these days is incredibly troubling.

The anime did not portray them as bad, but those 2 beast girls are pretty nasty. They do whatever they pleased, whenever they feel like it. And pretty much none can stop them from doing so. Besides Ariel and Fitz, Pursena and Linia are probably the 3rd most influencial and powerful people in the university. It's not like that it's only their brute strength that makes them powerful too. No. For beastfolks, those 2 are exceptionally smart. You might've missed it since it was mentioned during Rudy's confrontation of them, but those 2 really are top of their class honor students. Add the fact that they are both practically beastfolk royalty and there you go, some really powerful individuals. Now, I don't know if they'll still adapt this psrt or not so read ahead with a SPOILER WARNING in min: Pursena and Linia originally did not take their lessons seriously as well. Typical delinquent behavior. The reason why they suddenly turned a new leaf (?), or at least slight changed is because of Fitz. So when Ariel first transferred to the University, she's already getting pretty powerful and so Pursena and Linia felt that their power are heing challenged. Thay heing said, they do as gangs do and tried to humiliate Ariel, only for it to backfire on them real hard after Fitz jumped in to fight for Ariel. And well, the rest is history.

No one is a match for Orsted, not Laplace, not Rudeus no one. But as far as how Paul would measure to Soldat i believe Paul is above. Soldat is an advanced (maybe Saint?? i dont remember) tier Sword God Style and when Rudeus was born Paul was already an Advanced Sword god Style, so the deviser here would be that Paul is also Advanced Tier in the water God Style and the North God Style. So he is advanced on the 3 mainstream styles of swordsmanship. That makes him a super versatile fighter. So even though Soldat might be more aggressive in his own Sword God Style i think Paul still has the edge. He is more experienced and well balanced fighter. Paul never reached Saint TIer because not only he was training 3 different styles but he also kinda stopped practicing when He got married. Its the same with Ghishlaine. when she retired from adventuring she stagnated at the King Tier. Had they kept training they could be stronger then they are now.

Just to explain this part: In Mushoku Tensei, there are VERY strict laws about respecting the religions of others. Breaking someone's religious relics is punishable by death. Zanoba points out that Rudeus is as devouted to his Roxy religion as the temple knights of Milis are to theirs. So in the moment, the two Doldia girls thought they were about to be killed. Rudeus DOES have the right to do so considering the laws in this world. But Rudeus in the LN found that a far too severe punishment. This is why the Doldia girls respect Rudeus. They think of him as someone merciful.

By the way every time Pursena says "Nuhni" it is supposed to be a curse word. She curses a lot in the manga/LN however with censorships they stray away from that for the most part. I do wonder if they will include it in the dub thought considering they have cursed in the past.
