I hit the wrong comment and typed what I was going to say to the guy above you 😅 but I gladly repeat myself, now to the right comment: You know at lower temperatures, the snow gives a special sound when you walk on it. I know snow. I was born and live in Norway, so yes, I know snow. There are many variations of snow. The one in UK is often fluffy and tends to melt really fast when it hit the warmer ground, as winters have become much warmer in the whole of Europe the last 50 years. It don't come in October, like it used to, and stays until end of February or March. These days, it's strange to see it last for more than a month from Christmas and until the end of January. It tends to melt and go away, because it does not rain every day. As Andy said, snow is rain that is frozen, then it falls to the ground as snow. If the temperature is below zero, chances are it will remain frozen until temperature raise to above 0 degrees. Which it often does during the Winter months these days. Climate change is real.

I watched you Andy. I saw you walking the dog, getting filmed by a silent partner, talking about things that matters. Magick is real. I have seen it work, felt it and been a part of it. I don’t believe in systemic racism either. I do believe in demographic tendencies and I believe in ideological capture. What extent these are at play are a matter of perception until they start gathering proper statistics, then it’s an empirical question. Institutional racism is, I think, interchangeable with systemic racism. I agree that racism resides in individuals. “ So my 'identity politics' is to utilise colour blindness at certain key social interactions, and the Police restraining someone would be such an interaction.” Extended physical restraint while fellow officers are walking around is malicious intent pure and simple. Police are taught three cuffing positions. This often amounts to simply turning the hand of the person they are restraining palm up against the ground so that cannot resist by pushing up, then cuffing that person. Physically restraining a person without cuffing them is never an acceptable end goal. “ So for the police to go into an interaction thinking 'Black Lives Matter' is racist in that interaction. They should go into that interaction with concept that All Lives Matter.” - I was discussing the two slogans as pieces of rhetoric. In that, ‘Black lives’ is a topic of discussion at hand. You are re-introducing them as a thought process or mental state. How is ‘Black lives part of the thought process? ‘All lives’ is clearly wrong. We don’t value mosquitoes in the same way, so we really mean ‘All human lives’. In normal contextualized language using ‘Black lives’ no more excludes All lives than ‘All lives’ includes mosquitoes. Language is relevant to thought, but it can both under-specify it and over-specify it. Burdening a simple piece rhetoric with a thought process or philosophy with vast contingencies is a bit much to ask. Even ‘All lives matter’ a meager representation of how an assailant’s life matters, but may or may not have to be shot or may or may not require Psychological Intervention and so on.

My own instinct is to avoid indulging in the baser emotions like anger, hatred, and resentment. The last one is probably the hardest one to overcome, and Nietzsche did say that was a unique problem with Christian culture. Not the Church, but our unique culture that has arisen out of it. KZbin channels will often lead with titles of "What I hate. or despise, or can't stand", which I think is always a mistake, even if it does gain viewers. These are among the base emotions, I think it was Plato who defined "Anger" as a form of madness that overcomes one's reason.

Thanks for this presentation. The snow looks wonderful. In the USA and in the UK, we have had identity politics for ages. It was always white identity politics, and it was racist. This still persists, unfortunately. Trump just won an election here by running a campaign based entirely on white identity politics. I agree with you that the solution to this kind of toxic white identity politics is not more identity politics, based on various “identity types.” The solution needs to be based on what unites us as humans, not what divides us. Universal justice and human rights (not to mention art) cannot be based on “identities.”

I didn't quite understand whether you're saying that Trump is racist or his opposition is? If it's the former, then read on... If it's the latter then ignore what I wrote here... (I haven't seen Andy's clip yet.) You're advocating that Trump fights fire with a small wet blanket, rather than fire. You're applying the same "logic" that pro-Palestinians use when being extremely anti-Israeli biased, namely to not allow Israelis to counter violence with violence, because somehow Palestinians have a right to kill, Jews don't. If Democrats started identity politics, which they 100% did, then it is the Right's DUTY to counter that nonsense by addressing it, not by pretending it isn't there. The point isn't to initiate WHITE POWER as leftists very stupidly suggest (and secretly WANT from Trump), it is to address the blatant racism of the Left, and then crush it forever - if possible. (Naturally, it isn't possible, just as insanity isn't curable.) Besides, Trump did not win by ONLY addressing race-related issues, that is absolute nonsense. Perhaps you need to move away from your sources (CNN, MSNBC, BBC, and a million others) and perhaps, just perhaps, listen to what the other side is saying, not what CNN CLAIMS they are saying. Trump is far from perfect, but he is constantly being misquoted by liars from the Left. Even Bill Maher, a leftist, called them out on it recently... And anyway, the Left busted their balls to get Trump to become the Republican candidate in 2016, foolishly believing that would ensure a victory for Hellary Clinton. The Left wanted Trump as her opponent, and so they got their wish... Or how about Trump having been a Democrat for years?... Did you know this?
@666MRMYАй бұрын
Absolutely brilliant. “Make Huxley fiction again” is more accurate than Orwell, at least in the still quite free world. And “make the left look at the distribution of wealth again” without these totalitarian ideas. Thank you for the good music.

... like the story, perhaps apocryphal, that Charlie Parker was well pissed off that white men had been spotted notating what he and the others were playing in the early mornings at the 5 to 5 club, so they could nick it all and use it in white big band arrangements. Thelonious Monk said something like "well we'll have to play a music that they can't play and that they can't write down" ... and Bebop was born ... art is always informed by it's socio/political context imho.

OK, So I'm trying to catch up after missing a day or two, and Andy seems to live in a space-time continuum where there are more than 24 hours in one day. I mean, I watch 24 hours of his content and there is still another 12 hours to go ON THE SAME DAY! I'm in the market for a used time-machine. ANYWAY - The comment that ended up in your "Offensive Folder" that said you needed to develop a huge dr*g habit and then commit s*****e had me laughing for ten minutes straight - tears were pouring down my face. I can see it from your end, but that one just hit me as hilarious. That's one of the reasons why I like this channel - because there is some levity to it - God knows we can all use some of that. BLM is a failing cause where I am from because people are getting fed up with the whole "Protest For Profit" thing. End of transmission.

@The-ChrystalmachineАй бұрын
Your reaction to the snow is purely situational,If you were hungry and poorly clothed, you would respond with vastly different feelings, i'm sure. In the same way that your outlook and response to many different things in life are conditional. Our personal circumstances and experiences colour our emotional responses in so many ways. This is true of politics, music, and art, and it is always a struggle to balance our emotional responses with reason and logic. Perhaps this is our real battle with life. And at the the same time, the true source of much of our art and music.

The idea of "opposite people" creates a fracture (if successful) in what's really a continuum (a continuum because Human is the only simply valid description of such an ape). In other words it's XXXist in an ugly way. More than this, though, it's a scam. To have a Movement, you have to have a hard distinction between Yours, and Them, and so you need to have enemies. (Easy kapeazy. Just pick an enemy and hate him or her.) So I was wrong there; you have to _create_ enemies. (The ideas only really serve to create the enemies, so are secondary.) It's a pain, but it's probably best to call this what it really is - maybe "the fictionally opposite people". Or in short, you're exactly right on this matter. Unlike the idiots who don't get it. 🙂 Amazing music in the outro! That's more like what really matters in this world.

Another excellent video! And your hair, as always, is perfect. From the opening scene, I knew that this was going to be a snow-job, a whitewashing ... of the day-to-day horrors of working in a rope factory, with all the whirling fibers causing all sorts of lung conditions amid a beautiful, aesthetic setting. My wife is a writer, and her two favorite reviews are "This writer should kill herself" and "The first paragraph was so awful I threw away my Kindle." I'm not sure your video was about music and politics. I was all ready to champion Family's 'Lives and Ladies' as the best anti-war song of all time. Instead, we are back into the rights and wrongs of identity wars. Do they have a role in music? Of course they have, because they have a role in society. And art has to (sometimes) address issues in society. I think we have to recognize that, if you present as White, all issues are about you as an individual - Beethoven, Mozart etc. But if you are a non-White non-male, the conservative media will immediately focus on you being a female, a non-White, a gay, or whatever. The media is the market place, the agora, and that is how they categorize the market place, so inevitably you get identity politics. When Black people give their children "the talk" at the age of seven, they are not promoting Black identity - they are recognizing Black identity. They are referring to the reality that, if you are growing up Black, you will be stopped all the time by the cops, and you will probably spend some time in jail / prison, and you might get shot for a pretense that your tail light is out (what are called "pretextual" incidents). People do not choose their identities. Their identities are imposed on them by a supposed social norm of the male White person. So, obviously, they respond within their imposed identity, whether they are women, non-White, non-traditional sexual beings etc. Yes, all advocacy groups go overboard - that is how you move the needle. And the landscape changes. There will be a time when people who identify as cows, or sheep, or chickens will raise the identity politics flag and say "All lives matter." And people will push back, saying, "You are just playing identity politics."
