Tunecores payment plan has changed a lot since 2020, its much cheaper now, could that have changed that rate now?

I’m not sure if their cost structure would impact their payment rate. Perhaps them switching revenue models could have lowered their payouts, but honestly I don’t think it would affect it.

About 6 months ago they contacted me about the partner program they have, long story short I didn't partner because they hit me with a contract that I just really didn't understand. Could you maybe do a video looking into them and some of those "partner programs" with distributors?

There's some important data missing like were the songs originals or covers? Soundrop mostly focuses (or at least used to focus) on covers and they're supposed to also pay royalties to the authors from each stream.

That i'm not sure about. I would imagine Ari's Take would have filtered variables like that out, but I don't have the raw data so I can't say for sure!

True! Record Union refused to pay me for months and even entered my song into some weird version of their own discovery mode when I didn’t pay $20 to keep ONE song “available for pay”, I’d assume because Spotify and record union could monetize but not me. Sure it’s partly nice my remix was kept up so it could get new listeners when I didn’t pay, but it was a bit of a sick joke when it got thousands of algorithmic listeners out of nowhere when Spotify BARELY promoted my songs that I DID enter on discovery mode (and that’s if it got any listeners) I had to talk to 3 people over nearly 4 weeks who worked on the record union costumer service chat (slowly and with them taking days to respond even one sentence) and fairly sternly and with ostentatiously large words for someone to finally realize and admit that even after I “resubscribed” to record union they refused to pay me even ONE cent for tens of thousands of American and British streams. I know many of you haven’t even heard of record union but even if you have . JUST SAY NO, you WILL regret it

@@AndrewSouthworth Similar to what TuneCore used to do, always an insane system to me. DistroKid was such a breath of fresh air when I originally used TuneCore

I joined Soundrop in 2019 because my friend was using them and he was already making, my guess is, around 10k a month. This video is eye opening! This information is gold. I'm going to ask Soundrop about why they're dead last. This is horrible as artists are losing out on a lot of money. I have 100 covers with Soundrop and 40 covers with LANDR and LANDR pays me just a little less than Soundrop. I realize there's a lot of variables like how popular certain songs are, but I think it shows that this information is correct. I wish I could just move all my songs over to DistroKid but DistroKid said they can't confirm if I'd retain all my followers and likes. 🤷‍♂

this was a tunecore ad to me. most my streams i get from spotify US and thats tunecore pays out 500 dollars more per 1000000 streams... thats huge

same! 500 usd per 1M stream is an enormous difference. i wonder if these rates are similar in 2023, from the article it seemed these rates are from 2020. makes me want to do the switch from distrokid to tunecore to be honest haha

ive used distrokid myself as an artist and for other artists for maybe 4 years now and im starting to reconsider as it seems they're not too great for UK / EU Based artists, any advice or input?

I use Ditto as a UK based artist. Pretty good service so far.

I guess it makes sense with them being so popular, I did try TooLost which is amazing for cost and unlimited releases/artists/collabs however the payout time being 6 months does bring it down@@GeorgiKrastevMusic

I would assume they factored in percentage cuts for The Orchard and others, but I have no way of knowing since I didn't make this study.

Orchard provides marketing and label services that's why their payout is lower.

They do, selectively. We've had a song distributed through The Orchard and they've put 0 effort on any marketing or promo.

I believe these graphs are adjusted to account for the 15-25% fee, but not completely sure. Most people I know using them don’t really receive any support marketing wise. At best we’ll get an editorial pitch and maybe a playlist.

Hi Andrew, some time back I posted about a crazy amount of streams on one of my songs and I thought because I had emailed Facebook that it had all stopped but I received some new royalties and information today. From July 21 up to December 22 I have had over 134 million streams on one of my songs. Somewhere on Facebook/Instagram and for that I have received around 100 dollars. I was wondering who would you contact to try and figure out firstly: Where these streams have actually come from ? (As in, has my song been attached to some kind of video that I haven't agreed to). Secondly: Why the small amount of royalties ? Thanks
