Close your eyes and just listen to the quality of the performance. I had the pleasure of seeing him perform this live last year and believe me, it is spectacular. He always manages to touch with the beauty and the quality of his notes and range, the intepretation of the lyric - simply the best!

This is one of the best interpretations of music of the night i have heard in concert from anyone, with a beautiful orchestra and setting. It is sensual and just right for the occasion. I adore Gerard Butler in POTO the film is the best thing ever and Gerard was the perfect phantom, but it is a completely different comparison entirely. Well done Mario. There is another british spinto tenor called Gari Glaysher who is soon to sing MOTN and stunning to listen to also. Rose

I know nothing of music I just enjoy it, I understand a tenor is clasified for the range of his voice not for the genre he chooses to sing. He might sing folk mexican music but he is still a tenor, isn´t he???

ok i have 2/3 small quibs, i wish he sang the "soar" in falsetto, that note for me, is so magical when sung that way, also his tone becomes slightly gravely when he goes up to the Ebs quietly (e.g "silently the senses" and so on). also, i would have loved 2 hear this in his native language also because its obvious that hes not english speaking and sometimes the way he says words is distracting from the beauty of his voice Bar that, perfect.

Mario has become my favorite male vocalist. I like his voice even better than Michael Crawford, Michael Ball or Josh Groban. As For Gerard Butler's Phantom... I will not compare his performance to any other. For me, Gerry's performance stands alone. I really hope Mario actually plays the Phantom role on stage. His voice has incredible tenderness, power and control. Very masculine and sexy!

Yeah, the Ab for soar works well if you have a good falsetto at that pitch. Unfortunately I don't, so I just sing it full voiced as quietly as I can. Then go for it big style on the 'Be'. For Mario, these notes would be at the top of his range

Soar is generally sung either in head voice or in a good falsetto - piano or pianissimo. 'Be' is where you go for a full belt (not operatic, really). What are you on about with the lower 'falsetto' notes? Low notes are falsetto. On this song (which is badly written for either tenor or baritone), people generally keep the low notes light, as they are very low, to avoid clunking down into heavy chest voice.

I definitely love Mario and follow his career since 1997.... My favorites of him being "Feggari Erotevmeno" and "Vincero, perdero" Though, i hate to say it.....Gerard Butler's inadequate voice yet GREAT and passionate acting ruined me for any other Phantom... GB nailed it, at least for me.....
