Thank you for your reaction to Dimash. Dimash has perfect pitch. And to build up his breath control he swims an Olympic pool under water every chance he gets and when he was younger he was in taekwondo and other sports. Another thing you should ALWAYS watch until the very end not just because he stoped singing because if you had watched it all you would see a man in the front row with a white shirt. That is Igor Krutoy he is a very famous Russian composer ( and a Billionaire) who had heard of Dimash and came to see him. Igor came out of retirement to work with Dimash if you see a bald man at the piano it Mr. Krutoy and he composed the song. He and Dimash are real close they have no contract between them and have a father and son relationship.

23 seconds in one breath with riffs and runs. Unbelievable. Btw he didn‘t won the Voice. He became second in The Singer competition in China 2017, because of not being a Chinese. Here he sings in a competition for young musicians, called New Wave in Sochi, Russia. He was there in 2018 as a guest. This song was in Russian, a language he speaks fluently. The gentleman at the end you see standing and clapping is the famous Russian/Ukrainian composer, producer and songwriter Igor Krutoy. He has come out of retirement to work with Dimash. Rarely discussed. His family BELOVED for decades of quiet unpublicized giving to charity individually and together. Recently watched an upload a man recognizing his Dad driving a large commercial van made. He pulled up to the rear door of a home for the elderly across the street and the entire family including Dimash, unloaded its contents, back and forth an enormous load of boxes and bags of groceries and left. Dimash is Muslim, and what you heard here is an Islamic prayer for someone who has died, to rest in peace. A Studio, the band playing for him here had composed this song after they had a band member to die. That was great. 😆 The 'goat trill' / Melisma? section he went into straight after is a traditional Kazakh mourning piece, that he inserted, without forewarning, to the band: A-Studio, as a mark of respect to the original lead singer; now passed. You might have jumped just a little bit early on the breath control comment, given what he did at the end! 😂🙃🤣 Yes, he's truly phenomenal. Dimash is moving the boundaries of what we - pre-Dimash - believed the human voice was capable of.

I've read that this song was written by the keyboard player . The group is "A studio" and had a hit with this , but their singer passed away and Dimash was his friend so he sat in to record this. He added the vocal flip / melisma to honor the previous singer as it was a cultural thing for Kazakh music. Thanks for the great review!

This song was written by the keyboard player in 1998. Dimash certainly modified it. The lament in the middle with the trill was new and the big up slide and descending riffs at the end sound more like a jazz/turkic guitar solo than a typical singing part.

Yeah we understand. This is why we are such fans. It's never what you think and it's always beyond human. That last part is on one breath and is between 23 and 25 seconds long, it shouldn't be possible, but Dimash does it and makes it sound easy. You have to listen to "Stranger" and he even does more impossible things and it is also so well put together as a whole. Welcome to the world of Dimash. Oh yeah and don't miss "Ave Maria" with no words and it is one of the most beautiful vocalizations you will ever hear.

Dimash held that note, key change, and runs at full throttle for 22 seconds. By the way, Dimash still has vocal training for 3-5 hrs. a day every day. His grandparents took him to a music teacher when he was three and discovered that he had perfect pitch. He began music studies, vocal and piano, at the age of five. During an interview, he said that since he was 2 or 3 yrs. old, he has never wanted to do anything but sing, and if his heart and brain were to be cut open, all you would see is music. I have never heard of a singer so dedicated to his craft, his passion. The band named A'Studio that accompanies Dimash, is the same one that composed the song minus the lead singer named Batyrkhan Shukenov, who died of a heart attack in 2015. The song was originally performed in 1998 and the lyrics are by the poet Ilia Reznik together with Baigaly Serkebayev, (the keyboardist with long hair, which we see in the video accompanying Dimash.) The tones in the middle are oriental Arab technique (or traditional qazaq singing, called Joqtaw. It is a lament to the deceased singer). The last run is 24 seconds on 1 breath.

Trust me, the original song was performed by the group that was playing for him on this stage and it is no where close to what Dimash did. Dimash takes a song and he totally makes it HIS song. For example, his cover of Lionel Richie's Hello. It was so good that Lionel's people stopped him from singing it again as did Vitas on Opera 2. Now, I am a huge fan of Lionel Richie, but Dimash simply took the song and make it incredibly unique. Had Lionel been smart he would have let Dimash continue to sing it to bring an old song back to life as so many people who react to it never heard of it before.

Originally the song Sinful Passion was written and performed by a very popular pop music group, A-Studio. A Russian-based Kazakh band. Dimash is doing a cover . The piano player here, is an original member of the band. “Sinful Passion” ("Greshnaya Strast” in Russian) was first time performed by the band in 1998.Batyrkhan Kamaluly Shukenov was a singer, musician, composer, and poet. After leaving the group in 2000, he began his solo career. . Unfortunately Batyrkhan Shukenov died at age 52 from a heart attack. I have read the lament (similar to a muslim call to prayer ) Dimash added to the piece is in honour/ memory of him.
