You will be amazed if you listen to her younger self. She sang in a very high soprano, often going into falsetto. This is amazing that she has rearranged this song to fit her older voice.

This is one of the most touching songs I ever heard - especially in this version. If you have in mind, that she wrote this song in her early twenties, you get an idea what a great songwriter she is. Well, I am in my fifties and I guess neither me do nor my parents, who passed away in the last years, did really know, what "clouds", love and life is. A stunning song and a great performance.

wow, if I could I'd give this ten thumbs up, I appreciate your reaction and the great selection. It would be great if you can listen to the original version from way back. The way Joni is moving I feel that she's keeping internal rhythm especially since the song has been slowed down by a lot. She's also a great musician, she plays acoustic guitar and creates her own tunings and she's innovative in her playing. I was listening to your Beatles reactions, those are fantastic and then I found this amazing video.

In 1965 she gave birth to a daughter but she was unable to provide for her so she put her up for adoption they finally reunited in 1997 I think she always had a sadness in her voice, because the clouds got in the way that seperate her from her child.

The song is about when you start out in life you look at thing through rose peddle glasses and then you experience life and it is not what you thought it would be like. for instance the way she said about love she thought it was one way and then she experienced and it, and she really does not no love at all.

This version is very good! Joni is my Queen! Listen to her when she was younger (she had a high pitch voice...but she is a heavy smoker)! I suggest the song River from the Blue album (1971)

Joni Mitchell is sooo musical and so immersed in it, she can't help but move her body to the music. ..to sing a song without percussions and to make matters more difficult, the strings didn't have rests in between, I'm guessing legato is the term... her body motion is her sense of timing.

Whether younreact to it or just enjoy personally, I think you would realltly appreciate the lyricism of a few of her newer albums. While her lyrics are always flawless, her work on Taming the Tiger amd Turbulent Indigo is sonwmotionally evocative. Borderline, Magdalene Laundries, Yvette in English, Crazy Cries of Love are just avfew masterpiecws off of those two albums. She is a singular artist; painter, poet, and musician

I am a massive fan of the great songwriters, my all time music idol is Neil Diamond, but I love Joini Mitchell, without a doubt she is the premier female songwriter of the last forty years at least, I remember when I first watched and listened to this version, I cried buckets, during it, and after, there was something deeply moving in this performance, it didn't help that my dear mother had recently died at the time, but it touched me in a way I hadn't been touched by a song for a while. I like the critique, but a little advice, listen to the whole song first, immerse yourself in the not just the song but the performance, you will get the best from it that way, you lose the feeling and emotion by continually pausing it, this is a piece that has to be viewed and listened to in it's entireity, the raw emotion in Joni's voice is on another level, the song is sung with the wisdom of age and of life experience, it draws you in completely, and leaves you drained emotionally. A classic song, sung by a classic and legendary artiste.

Joni Mitchell has an amazing catalog of music. Try a variety of her material. The albums - Blue. The Hissing of Summer Lawns. And Hejira are strong fan favorites. Just pick some songs from those albums. They are all fantastic. Joni’s material is underrepresented among reactors considering her influence.

First this is not a reaction request. This version is so different than her original interpretation. How can you choose that version? It is essentially a different song than the original version. Her voice is several octaves lower than it was in her prime. Oh well, your channel I guess...

Joni has lost a bit off the top range of her singing voice. Have a listen to the same song 20 or 30 years earlier.
