YESSSS! BE MORE CHILLLL! During the musical this song happens after Michael's friend Jeremy kind of betrays him during a party. Jeremy has become a "cool kid" and completely ignores him as if he cant see him now which leads to Michael having a panic attack alone in the bathroom!

If youre interested in more Be More Chill songs to react to, I'd definitely recommend checking out Two Player Game!! While this song is later in the musical, after the MC Jeremy started hanging w/ the "cool kids" & ignoring his best friend Michael, Two Player Game is actually set much earlier in the show & is sung by both Jeremy & Michael, & it explains a lot about how solid their friendship was to begin with, before Jeremy changed & let all the attention go to his head. Plus it's just a good song overall too, it's so much fun to sing 🥰🥰

Damn but I love this song! It and Matilda's "Quiet" have the two best musical examples of a panic attack I've ever heard. I haven't pretended to check a text, but I have pretended to be on a call. As a woman walking alone at night sometimes you get creepers that follow you and make nasty comments. A trick I learned a long time ago is to pretend to call your "husband" and if the dude thinks another dude has already staked a claim or that someone might witness whatever he has planned he's more likely to leave you alone. It sucks I've had to use this multiple times over the years but it's kinda just part and parcel of being a modern woman, especially a gay one.

If you continue BMC, I recommend doing it in order, because it can be kinda confusing if not. Besides, the first song More Than Survive is a good introduction song in my opinion, and it's also a a good song in general. The second song, I Love Play Rehearsal, gives us more on the personality of the main love interest. Then the third song, I think, is The Squip Song, and this is where everything starts to snowball. Two Player Game shows more of Jeremy's and Michael's friendship before Jeremy starts to slowly but surely fuck up. And so on, and so on. Also, if you _are_ going to do this in order, after listening to Upgrade, I recommend listening to Loser, Geek, Whatever. It's from the Broadway version, and it gives us more depth in Jeremy's character and motives. Also, also! Some animatics have more dialogue, which gives a little more context

I think what made this song stand out especially from this musical is that first of all, we all have felt like Michael at some point in our lives, and second of all, the performer, George Salazar, who portrays Michael and his feelings so incredibly well. Sometimes I really need to hear or sing this song, when I'm hurting or when my anxiety is high. I'm glad you enjoyed the song, David! And yes, they did that with 'I wanna dance with somebody' and I enjoy that part lots. Especially at the part where the knocking starts, this is an incredibly accurate portrayal of how you feel when you're experiencing a panic attack. So it's near and dear to my heart!

Ahhhhhhhh Be More Chill. Takes me back to high school. We'd play the soundtrack and sing along on the car ride to school with my friends. This song definitely encapsulated the anxiety and angst we were all dealing with around that time. I'd love to see more reactions to this soundtrack! The Smartphone Hour is a fun sort of chaos. The intro song More Than Survive does a good job setting up story and characters, so if you want to dive into this musical, that'll be a good starter. The animatics are pretty awesome!

OH YES! Absolutely amazing song and singer! BMC is definitely a very goofy musical most of the time, but some of it's more 'real' moments are fantastic. And even the goofier songs are still absolute bangers, "Upgrade" certainly comes to mind! If you feel up for it, I'd say definitely check out more from the musical! It can be hard to understand to story if you're not listening in order though! XD Many fans theorize in this song that most of the knocking past the initial few wasn't real, and was simply Michael's anxiety, hence why he doesn't hear it anymore after he splashes some water in his face. I'd tell you the counter theory to this one, but it's a liiiittle spoilery, so I'll hold off for now ;P And I had one of those "awkward check my phone" moments today actually, lol! After school every day I walk over to my friend and her friend to chat a bit. But today, they were standing in a different spot than usual, even though the usual spot was still open. So I wasn't sure if they were having an important or serious conversation... I stood a little bit away from them and pretended to be texting someone, before my friend grabbed my backpack and dragged me over to join the convo, haha.

Honestly this song is such a banger I absolutely love it, so glad you covered something from "Be More Chill" I hope you cover more songs from it, it's a great musical super underrated and the things it deals with are so relatable...well minus the evil supercomputer but struggling to fit in ,toeing the line between being yourself and society's ideal of who you should be, the moral question of what you'd be willing to do to achieve your ambitions, and of course all the underlying themes of dealing with anxiety and depression.
@leilanyx2 жыл бұрын
i wouldn't necessarily call it underrated, because it kind of falls alongside the big popular contemporary musicals - you at least knOw of be more chill, particularly if you're a fan of hamilton, dear evan hansen, heathers, six, even waitress, etc. but it does tend to get written off because it's slightly more goofy than the others listed, and the music just isn't some ppl's style.

This happened like 4 or 5 years ago. I was invited to my best friend's party. She invited 2 of our friends, her other friend who I didn't know, and her boyfriend who I didn't like. (It's just my luck that our 2 friends didn't show up)They started playing Wii Sports because why not I guess and none of them talked to me at all so I just sat in the corner and looked at my phone the whole time.Then my other friend texted me something really funny and I started laughing soooo hard that I started choking on soda. They all looked at me and asked if I was ok. I said yes and then they went back to doing what they were doing. I kept looking at the time because I just wanted to go home at that point. But wait this day gets even better. I was on my way home when my mom texted me and asked me to go to the store and get some milk for her because she didn't want to go out herself to get it. I went and got the milk and I guess I didn't close one of my car doors all the way because the car wouldn't start. I remembered that my phone was about to die so I called my brother as fast as I could and it took him an hour to get there and this happened in November in the middle of the night. It was soooo cold. Safe to say that I didn't have fun that day lol. Also Be More Chill is my favorite Musical. I love it soooo much. My favorite song from it is The Pants Song lol. I just love how weird that song is.

This whole musical is a banger and also an acid trip, no doubt about it. I am just so proud that this song got a 39 on your scoring scale! Its definitely a favorite but I would suggest listening to most of the songs in order because the plot is already hard to follow. Also, there are two soundtracks available. This song gets me emotional every time, glad you enjoyed it! I'd like to reccomend the version of While My Guitar Gently Weeps performed by Regina Spektor for the (amazing) movie Kubo and the Two Strings! In the movie Kubo uses a shamisen, so it's also used in this version of the song. Gives it a very unique feel that I enjoy so much that it's actually made this my preferred version over the original. If you're interested in the movie I'd highly recommend it: it's a stop motion film made by the same studio who did Coraline. I feel like not enough people talk about the song OR the movie so I definitely hope to see you review it! An interesting fact that I'd like to share is that Kubo actually features the largest stop motion puppet ever made, it's this really freaking cool skeleton they encounter pretty early in the movie!

I work at a university library, and I have to walk through the main hub of campus to get to work, so I'm constantly barraged by people in student organizations trying to get me to take flyers or sign up for some club or cause. (I'm not a student, I'm staff, so I generally can't participate in most things they accost me about.) I've learned at this point to just stick headphones in and glue my eyes to my phone until I get through the main area to significantly decrease the number of people who bother me while walking. It really does help.

One song I can't stop listening to sometimes is The Pitiful Children, which is later after Michael In The Bathroom, would be awesome to see that one! I would say The Squip Song from earlier in the musical to get a better idea of what's going on, plus I think it's great. And I saw this one mentioned already but Two Player Game is great and real cute actually. There's a song in the musical actually called Be More Chill that's split into two parts because Do You Wanna Ride is in the middle, but Be More Chill Pt. 2's beginning has another of what I think are the heaviest moments in the musical in it, just saying. It carries over from Pt. 1 but yeah it's just a bit I like =)

Nothing on the 'awkward' phone front, but I've pretend-called my dad at least a dozen times walking home in the dark if I felt like someone was following me :/ Be More Chill is super underrated, and I'd love to see more songs from it (A Guy That I'd Kinda Be Into animatic by szin has me in stitches whenever I watch it), but I HAVE to bring up Hadestown again (sorry). "Any Way the Wind Blows" or "Way Down Hadestown" are where I'd suggest starting, with the original broadway cast recording. Unfortunately animatics aren't super reliable for Hadestown, so it's best to avoid them if you wanna react to the song itself.

I went to lunch with my uncle and my grandma and my grandma was just berating my uncle and it was super awkward. So I glanced down at my phone and went oh shoot uncle we have to go pick up my friend she just texted me. So we start walking out and I just go your welcome. And my uncle goes what and I was like my friend didn’t text me that was just SUPER awkward. 😂😅

Be More Chill is actually one of my favorites because I like a majority of the songs. I am very picky.
