These cats are doing something so unique and I love it. What even is this? Easy-listening-core? Hotel-lobby-core? They make it look incredibly smooth and effortless while performing death-defying acts of finger dexterity. I want several albums of just this so I can have it on constantly in the background all day as I work. Remarkable stuff. As always, love your commentary here.

My dude, give the plat through a watch. Tim does a one take acoustic play through that is absolutely mind blowing. The drum play through is worth a watch as well. Clay is an absolute monster on drums and just oozes style. Some of the best musicians out rn

We usually pronounce it as polY-phia (emphasis on the Y), instead of poly-phIa (emphasis on the I). The second time you said it on the video is the "correct" way to pronounce it, as the band members do.

I can't wait until you go and watch the Playthroughs ... You see the video and it sounds awesome ... But to watch them play their parts with what can only be called effortless mastery. I watched Tim Henson's playthrough and could see EVERY SINGLE micro movement of his right hand while he Hybrid pick/tap/plucked every note clean. Clay's drum through video had me sitting with my mouth open stunned ... With his drumming it isn't even so much about what he is playing ... It's more about what he isn't playing. THE ART OF LETTING A SONG BREATH. Scott LePage comes across as a first chair. I love how he shines in this one, yet he seems so humble pie and content doing what he loves. Any way I hope you post your reactions these playthroughs ... Subbed and Dubbed.

There's a link at the end of the video to drummer Clay Aeschliman that you should watch. I think it'll clear up what you (and I initially) thought were electronic drum sounds coming from what appears to be an acoustic kit. I've since seen (at NAMM) exactly that……electronic drums in the form of acoustics. A very clever blending of these 2 forms. To me, no one pulls it off as well or in a more unique fashion than Clay! Polyphia, like Dirty Loops, are genius-level musicians. And like D.L., they make most other musicians pale in comparison. As a musician yourself, I'm fairly sure you're familiar with DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations) that give musicians so much creative freedom and give savvy groups like this legs they never had in the era of tape.

The drums sound electric because the drummer and bass player are locked in and precise AF. Kick drums and bass notes are hit simultaneously and held to mimic something like an 808 sound. What you're hearing isn't electronic, it's 100% done on purpose because they're just that good.

Tim Henson is rightly proud of his ability to write hooks, which is honestly just as impressive as his technical skills. what to listen to next depends what you want. for more melodic tracks, i like Goose or LIT. for heavier, O.D. or Look But Don't Touch.

What I appreciate about this reaction is too many people pause the song a dozen times to talk about something they noticed but you allowed it to play through unimpeded. More people need to listen to a full playthrough before they start dissecting everything
