I honestly can't think of any of the new songs that don't deserve an official music video

I'm pretty sure this is the one where MISA alternates between slapping and picking every couple measures or so. And she was quoted as saying "What was I thinking". 🤣🤣🤣

I have a strong suspicion that "Tamaya" will grow a hell of a lot on people, the more they hear it. This is Band-Maid at their high energy best! MISA amazingly funky bass and Akane's freaking tom work is SO DAMNED COOL!!!!!

Tamaya is my favourite track on the album. Not sure how Nix can say it's not Band-Maid. Thanks for the breakdown. Great job! Also, The One is totally underrated on this album. It really stands out above the other ballads.

Of course it's a Band Maid song....lol. I just think there is a super strong Gacharic Spin feel throughout. Love the song.

This has probably been happening since Bach. Fans, especially very longtime fans, tend to want their band to stay in the box 📦 of musical concepts from their earlier days. Ofc, most high-level, interesting, intelligent, curious and important artists, like the members of Band-Maid, hate that idea and will constantly be creating music that pushes beyond their earlier works. More power to them, imho. I’m endlessly grateful for, and floored by, their newest works. Tamaya is no exception, just as the rest of this incredible album is. I wouldn’t change a thing about it because it’s their musical expression. 🔥🕊️🙌🏼🌎🎤🎸🥁😎✌🏼☮️

I've been going back listening to their older work on my long drive into work. They've been incorporating other genre's into their brand of rock for a long time. It's really noticeable once you actively start listening for it. Funk and jazz? It's been there the whole time, maybe not on every song, but definitely present if you pay attention. Even if a song is a different take on what they normally do, it very much fits into what Band-Maid does. They experiment, they incorporate other genres, and make good rock beats.

The kick/hihat section is a disco beat, and is often used by Akane, but hardly makes the whole song danceable. I agree- the second half of the album contains plenty of Kanami mayhem, a bit like Unseen World. The first halves are a gentle intro.

Great point on how even their "simpler" songs are a lot less simple when you dig into. I recall Champ kind of deriding Manners when reacting to the Manners/Black Hole double live, like saying the band had to be bored playing manners... when it's got Misa and Akane absolutely going off, and double time when Kanami solos with Misa Soloing underneath. Even their "pop ballads" like About Us are so damn layered and dense. I mean.. Bestie is an Incubus song in Band Maid dressing, so yeah it's not AS complex under the surface, but even there, there was no way Misa was gonna let it be boring.

Thanks Alan, these are really great reviews and insights with a truly added value based on your experience as musician too and sound engineer. I like the concept of separating tracks to explore the richness of their compositions. I really appreciate to see a review of this album here from somebody who obviously loves music. And some people think B-M is generic. They still stand at their own - unique. That was a very refreshing journey - thanks again.

I find that most BM songs are so groovy that they are all quite danceable. As you can see on stage, Saiki and Kamami's feet never stop moving.

I appreciate your deep musical insight. And saying this song is Gacharic Spin like just because there is a funky drum beat is ridiculously reductive. Also, there are many danceable songs in Bamd-Maid's catalog, it is even up to a point that "being danceable" is one of their signature ingredient. I fully agree with you. The ending songs of this album are really something fascinating and exiting and would have been better released as a separate EP. It is fresh, new, creative.

Danceable? One of he things that make Band-Maid unique is their willingness to explore areas other rock bands find to be outside their comfort zone. They like dance beats, they like Karaoke, they like funk, they like jazz, they like a lot of stuff that many metal bands refuse to touch. They'll combine all this stuff in a manner that can only be described as 'Progressive' or 'Fusion'. ...and I can see the comparison with both Gacharic Spin's recent output and Ado, too.

I REALLY love this song. It is just a fun song and has a lot of funk in it. I stand by my assertion this is VERY Gacha Pin. The bridge to the chorus and chorus are both very GS and that is in no way a bad thing. Looking forward to bouncing to this live.

@@ericifune5543 someday. It’s complicated. It would need to be a family trip. We are going to the UK in December for two weeks and that is going to be right about $26,000. Japan would be about the same so I’ve have to save up for it.

@SJNix... nope, doesn't sound like Gacharic Spin. Just because it's extra funky don't make it GS.

This chorus and vocal melody is one of most catchy that they've written, and Kanami writes hella catchy songs in general. My favorite part is when Saiki sings, "Shout it out" in the chorus, and there's some space in the vocals where you can hear MISA's slapping, Akane's disco high hats, Miku's foundation, and Kanami all just groovin'. This song is just so high energy and gets you pumped. Definitely going to be an energy song in their okyu-jis. Looking forward to hearing a live version soon.
