Musician Reacts Tom's Diner by AnnenMayKantereit and Giant Rooks

The reason there’s so many dudes in there is they are two separate bands (four and five guys each) plus a trumpeter. his name is Ferdinand Schwarz and he plays with Annenmaykantereit in concert a lot. I highly recommend both bands! btw- it is Ahnnen, mai (not like may), Kan-ter-ite (the last names of three of the guys here) and they toured together in 2019 but haven’t since :( AMK sings mostly in German but they have English covers, and Giant Rooks sings mostly in English but have done a little German. Both bands are from Germany!

It might be comparable to Henry or Arthur in the US.. only here, it also has a little bit of a "Redneck" ring to it :D haha no offense!

I have to admit that I wasn’t expecting much because there is so little music from the 90s on that is very appealing to us old hippies who were there to experience the 60s & 70s as they happened, but these guys are interesting enough that I would actually listen to them a little more. That second guy’s voice sounded like it should be coming from some 275 pound bearded badass, not some tall skinny beanpole and it’s his voice that drew me with its character. Also the subtle trumpet tones added more than you think when you focus on it. Nice job. It was also nice of them to allow their non musical buddies to stand around and get some screen time.

all of them standing there are actually part of the bands! its just that they are two bands (annenmaykantereit and giant rooks) and they don't need two drummers and etc, so the people standing at the end are playing in first room, they just also get to be there for the ending :)

If I'm not wrong, the music in the first room is made by Annenmaykantereit and in the second room by Giant Rooks and the others from the first room joined them.

Tom’s Dinner is a cover - original written and performed by Suzanne Vega / 1982… the dinner was on 112th & broadway. Near where she attended college

Great reaction video, but... Oh dear, I feel old now. How come you don't recognize Suzanne Vega's original Tom's Diner? You must be very young... It was such a huge hit, for decades it was everywhere!!! This is a fantastic cover, but this wouldn't happened without the very catchy original!

The problem with reacting without any preparation is that sometimes you miss important details. You didn't seem to realise that this was a cover of a Suzanne Vega song, and you didn't seem to realise that the first room was AMK whereas, before they all came together, the second was Giant Rooks (the name of the band, not the singer!). When you realise that they are two small bands, you will no longer think that anyone was along for the ride.

This is a great Song, but AMK has so many good Songs. My favorite is "Oft Gefragt - AnnenMayKantereit" or "Barfuß Am Klavier - AnnenMayKantereit" :)

Henning May is the fab deep raspy voice. His band is ANNENMAYKANTEREIT in the 1st room. Frederick Rame is the 1st singer and his band Giant Rooks was in the 2nd room. ANNENMAYKANTEREIT started 11 yrs ago as a street band in Germany. Now thevplsy huge arenas in Europe. They have videos of covers of Classic Rock songs in English: You must watch ROXANNE, COME. The deepest voices comes from the littlest guys. One guy was in an interview and apparently speaks in a regular voice because his natural is in the dungeon. Strange.
