Jinjer use spot backing vocals even during some live shows - if you watch Perennial live at Wacken, they have a pre-recorded introductory spoken part too. But it's all Tatiana and the growl is 100% real. She can switch in and out as fast as you like, she can do things I've never heard before. Some of her really low notes are frightening. Drummer is Vlad, classically trained pianist who had a side gig as a guitarist. His band couldn't find a good drummer... so he taught himself drums and is now considered one of the most significant new drummers in metal.

Yeah, this has multiple vocal layers and post prod going on, its more or less a re-recording of an older song in studio originally meant to showcase a new drummer. Pisces is kind of a song that the band has never fully been happy with, and infact, the entire ending of the song was different until last minute the first time around that it was recorded in studio. The band has often stated that they are disappointed that this was the video and song that "broke them" to a wider audience and feel that "I Speak Astronomy" is a better representation of the band they were versus the band that they have become. As you might have guessed, Pisces originated from a bass line. Tatiana and Eugene also both contributed lyrics to this, as they are both Pisces and have had a long (and not always happy) relationship with each other, going back before either person joining this band. None of the current members are original to the band.

There is an endless debate on whether or not the vocals in this video are genuine, unaltered, etc. Despite the misleading title 'Live Session', It seems pretty clear that the production level is much closer to a studio recording than a live show. The vocals are layered, processed, probably several takes were made, etc. HOWEVER, that doesn't mean they can't deliver during live performances. There are quite a few videos out there to be convinced. - Perennial (live at Wacken) - Pit of Consciousness (live in Kiev) - On the Top (live in Kiev) - Ape (live at Mystic Festival 2019) - Who is Gonna Be the One - ... the list goes on

I've been a metalhead for about 40 years, & Jinjer is the 1st growling band I've enjoyed. They single-handedly re-invigorated my interest in music after about 20 years of near-dormancy. They are all incredibly talented. For this track, they added vocal layers to some cleans & most growls in post-production. Tatiana can't do multi-pitch singing, but she's an amazingly versatile, talented & skilled vocalist, a talented lyricist & melody writer & a kick-ass front woman. The lineup has been constant since 2016, when Vlad replaced Dmytro Kim on the drums. This video was meant to showcase Vlad, who had recently joined...but Tati kind of steals the show. Dmytro Kim left because he didn't want to sustain Jinjer's demanding touring schedule. Eugene replaced founding bassist Oleksiy Svynar in 2011 for reasons I do not know. Roman replaced founding lead guitarist Rostyslav Lobachov in 2010 for reasons I do not know. Founding rhythm guitarist Dmytro Oksen departed in 2015 to pursue an acting career, leaving Roman as the sole guitarist. Tatiana replaced founding vocalist Maksym Fatullaiev in 2010 for reasons I do not know. Tatiana, Roman & Eugene have been the constant core of the band since 2011, & really forged Jinjer's identity together. Vlad, who is a classically trained pianist & very talented multi-instrumentalist, contributes a lot of musical composition as well as his very nuanced, jazz-influenced drumming style, & has quickly become an integral part of the band, contributing to their progressive tendencies. These 4 are magical together.

Same, also with Rap, got tired of the 'hoes/money/hood' recycled crap. Then Ren & NF come along with real stuff that you might actually care about. Still think this video is your best best opening down the Jinjer rabbit hole. Non stop vocal fry gets boring after a while, but she makes it impact so well because of the softer intro and her natural voice at full throttle just shows that she is the fourth musician in the room.

Well guys, welcome to the wormhole that is Jinjer. A little background, Tatiana is self taught, not one singing lesson ever, and you'll find that she is a fucking goddess! Vlad, the drummer, is a classical pianist and he took up drums as a hobby so that tells you what kind of a musician he is. Next up should be Perennial live at Wacken open air 2019, it was their last song of their set which will show you how incredible Tatiana is. I'm subscribing and I'll look for more Jinjer reactions. There is a long list of songs that people usually react to once they watch Jinjer for the first time. I hope you continue to check them out, they are really an incredible band, really no weaknesses. It never get's old. Great reaction. When they did this they got to this studio early so Tatiana layed down those higher parts on the second-"scale armor....blaze....virgin innocence..... one being brings life.... the other runs for death....." and it's keyed on blaze, innocence, brings life, and runs for death. When she goes high on-"searching for a hook to catch on and see they're sunbeams" is the only time she does go high save when the song was originally recorded. Live she just does it in growl mode as she's afraid she'll mess it up live. Usually the next one to react to is-Who is gonna be the one live as it's around the same time as this. You can do all their songs over time. They all kick ass. Down the rabbit hole we go.

It was their composition that had me immediately interested.... initially *despite* the extreme vocals! Vlad here on drums, is actually a classically trained pianist to trade. He shifted from (self-taught) guitar to (self-taught) drums in his previous band before joining Jinjer. His compositional skills really came to the fore in the most recent "Wallflowers" album (he wrote ~80% of the music on there). I'd love to see what you make of their gorgeous thru-composed (coz #WhoNeedsChoruses, that's why!) single "Vortex" sometime. And if you'd like to understand how the deeply unsettling feel of that song is achieved, I recommend immediately moving onto Eugene's bass playthrough vid for it - it's a 5-string drop-A #MasterClass ;)

Hey guys, you have just entered a deep rabbit hole of great Jinjer songs. As far as a live in concert video, I'd recommend their song Perennial (live from Wacken 2019 video) because the audio/video quality and their performance are excellent. Also, Tatiana's "live one take vocal performance" video of their song Judgement and Punishment really demonstrates what an incredible vocalist she is. I've been a musician since I was a kid (MANY years ago!) and I've played in multiple bands in several genres over the years, but I was never into metal with the scream/growl harsh vocals until I discovered Jinjer and their "metal goddess" vocalist, Tatiana, near the end of 2021. I instantly loved them due to their interesting, sophisticated and varied songwriting, fantastic musicianship and the incredible vocals of Tatiana. A couple other songs I'd recommend...Teacher, Teacher (official video), Home Back (official video), Who Is Gonna Be The One (official live video from Napalm records) and Disclosure (live from Kiev video).

Excellent reaction dudes! You'll find quite a few musicians among Jinjer fans. All the musicians are top shelf, and I include Tatiana because she uses her voice like an instrument. I've been playing bass and singing for 45 years, and like many, Jinjer grabbed my ears immediately and never let go. They bring that excitement I felt when I first heard Van Halen, or Pantera, or Hendrix. Once you've checked out a live performance or three to prove to yourself that Tati is for real and can pull that shit off without blinking an eye, you might look for playthrough videos by Eugene, Vlad and Roman. They're all phenomenal, and you'll notice very quickly that their band chemistry is uncannily tight. Their songs are complex and varied, whipsawing from one genre to another, but they hang together insanely well. You'll also want to check out the Judgement and Punishment one take for an up close look at Tatiana's vocal prowess. There are so many great songs too discover. If you're like me, it's love at first listen, and it only gets better and better. They're opening for Disturbed on their summer tour this year. Keep your eyes open for headlining shows announced in between the Disturbed shows--you definitely have to see these guys live! I discovered them late last year, and was fortunate to see them only weeks later. They are mind blowing live! I've seen Rush 36x live, and they're pretty much that good. Can't have my Rush anymore, but Jinjer can scratch that itch. And a couple others too!

The thing about having no original members left in the band is that they pretty much released nothing outside of some demos before Tatiana joined in 2011. And by that point Roman and Eugene (guitar and bass) were also already in the band. So it's a much different situation than a band like Sepultura that just lost all it's founding members over the course or multiple decades. In Jinjer's case all of their band member shuffling happened before they even released anything of substance. It was just growing pains.

The growl uses her false vocal chords and her technique is very good. She doesn't strain at all. She is untrained though! Most of the tune is in 7/4 time - a lot of viewers miss that. There's some beautiful modal playing by the guitarist and bassist (with some beautiful variations towards the end).. Some of the bass is actually hammer on/tapping although that is less than obvious. The drummer is spectacularly good.

Tatiana is the singer and songwriter of the band. She once said she started screaming at 11yrs. She can switch vocal styles on a blink. Eugene is bassist and one of the best in the business. Vlad is the drummer and the only one with music education, he is trained pianist. Roman plays the guitar and is the silent type, doesn't play himself forward, just keeps all nicely together. All remarkable musicians in their own right, but as Jinjer they play together as one.

To hear the "real" Jinjer, try another piece. This song is mostly reacted, but unusual to thier sound.

Nice job guys you got my sub with this one. You have reacted to two of my favorite bands in your last videos. Also Misa from Band-Maid and Eugene from Jinjer are my two favorite bassists. Their styles of playing are very different but I love them both. As far as the Goddess Tatiana goes, you can’t explain it you just have to marvel at her greatness! You will see when you continue on your Jinjer journey that she can switch from those angelic tones to growls deeper than most men and back, mid-sentence from one word to the next. Keep doing what you’re doing. I’m along for the ride and cheers from an old rocker in West Texas.😎🤘🏻

The best live performance I’ve seen from them is Who’s Going to Be The One live. You really get to see how talented everyone is in this band.
