What really surprises me is when and where this band started. Eastern Ukraine at the end of the 2000s is not at all the place where you expect such musicians to appear. This flower made its way through the asphalt, in a dirty industrial area, under leaden clouds ... it's just a miracle.

As I understand it, the guys write the music with some melody ideas, and then pass it on to Tati. She writes the lyrics and finishes the melody, with sometimes Eugene's help or even with his own lyrics. But what amazes me is she composes without using an instrument - other than rudimentary guitar chords - and goes to the studio without really knowing what she's going to do. She adlibs, and sometimes completes a recording in only one take! Singing is totally natural to her and she doesn't need to formally write it all out. Her bandmates and engineers are often shocked with what she comes up with on the fly. So talented! But because it comes so naturally to her, she doesn't feel a need to take care of her voice much - no warmups and she smokes and drinks.

Check out the music video for "I Speak Astronomy" - there's a false ending belt that will blow you away. This band can do no wrong! For a bit of fun, listen to the song "Beggar's Dance." Then, just put on "King Of Everything" and listen to the whole album. I'm with you...thoroughly in love with this band.

I'd suggest a double feature here. The official video is beautiful, but in the two years between it being recorded and their festival performances in 2018 Tatiana's belting skills seem to have improved by a small but significant edge, or else she gets more intensity when performing on stage. So I'd suggest after the official video checking either the live from Resurrection Fest or live from Summer Breeze videos. The sound quality on both live videos are similar which isn't perfect (though the video on the Resurrection Fest is so much better it feels more intense to me) but I feel like there is just an edge to her live belting that is incredible. You have two options for Resurrection Fest, someone cut the song out of the full set video that Resurrection Fest released, or you can go to the 14 minute mark in the full set video. If you want to just get the belting instead of doing a full double-feature, you can go to the 19 minute mark.

a@@j.f.fisher5318 As an evidence to sustain Jeff's assertion you can dig for Tatiana's early perfomances back in 2011 when she recognized her skills at master level. Even at that time I've witnessed performances of Jinjer back in 2009 when she was recruited as a temporary step-in after Maks Fatullayev leaving to US, nailing the growls and thus most of the men would sound as pus*ies.

YES! I Love your Jinjer reviews Music Shed! PLEASE DO "Pit" Live in Kiev next, it's recent you won't regret it, This was their first true Headlining Gig in their homeland, the place where they recorded and produced all their albums. You can see it in all their eyes during the performance that they were striving for utter perfection for their home crowd and they succeeded :) I feel you haven't shown Roman the Riff God enough love in your reactions, that will change after you see and hear this masterpiece. He incorporates the rythym and lead tracks together from the album, it's awesome, your Jaw will be wide open in Amazement this whole song. Tati's vocals are Next Level!! Do the "APE" official video after Pit!

Vlad quickly became one of my top 3 favorite drummers. He makes his presence felt but doesn’t need a huge kit or some crazy drum fill solo to do it. They’re all so so good and you’re right they are a unit and love each other. If you notice when you watch the videos all the band members get a good portion of camera time it’s not just all Tatiana. I’d love to see you do Cloud Factory. It’s an older song but one of my favorites probably just because the singing is different from every other song.

One of the best feelings about Jinjer is that they feel genuine. Artists can write moving songs and have them well produced and performed, but if it doesn’t feel authentic and real, what’s the point? I’m guessing the tolerance for bullshit in Jinjer is very low. Great reaction!

The thing about this specific video is the fact that you can tell how winded she is when she talks to the crowd at the beginning. She still sounds amazing for her to be that winded and it being their last song, the control she has over her voice and the air she is using is just amazing. And of course the band is awesome as well.

My shoulder was 3 hours, and at worst it was maybe a 3 on 1-10. Same with my wrist. I think it strongly depends on the area which is being tattooed as well as the amount of fat on that area, as needle on bone (like ribs) there is no cushion.

Screaming music was NEVER my thing, but then I heard Jinjer. I loved Gwen Stefani in No Doubt and sometimes Tatiana reminds me so much of Gwen that I had to listen again and again. Then, I realized, I can understand what she's saying in her screams. I couldn't comprehend ANY screamer in the past, but now I could and it made all the difference. I find that the band's flexibility changing time signatures, awesome transitions, and storytelling remind me of progressive rockers like Pink Floyd, Yes, and Rush. Great company to hold.

They just played a live show to a social distanced audience in Germany (I think). The images are hilarious, as it looks like Jinjer playing to an Octoberfest celebration, while everyone stays seated and drinks their lager. Love this band, they are the pure genuine article. Outlander is an older Jinjer song. The live version of this one is from 2014 when Tatiana was still sporting dreads... As a trombonist, one thing that I really dig about Jinjer (among many things) is to point out how well Tatiana breathes. Yes, she dances around a lot, but when she really wants to belt out her "extremes", she fairly consistently goes into a classic "power pose" with feet apart, hips a bit forward, back in a very natural upright position, and using her entire torso to take huge breaths. This is something I also see in very aggressive brass players, especially trumpeters; Bill Chase being a classic example. In this video, 8:56 is a good example.

Yeah, I was at that show; it was a rather good turnout considering they were lined up as early as 11 AM and most everyone was still hung over from the night before. ;-) The crowd's not huge as in Nightwish-y huge, but in relation to the venues Jinjer normally play, it was really nice to see so many people there. I also agree that they would have deserved a later slot, but here's to hoping that when they'll return in a few years they'll get it. However, for the time being I think they're still in a niche that's not (yet?) popular enough to earn them a headliner slot. Additionally, I of course totally second that Nightwish suggestion. :-)

I’m a lefty and I play open on a righty...I tried to play right handed but just couldn’t get it. Had a guitarist tell me to try open and it just clicked. Never had lessons except for that one moment back in 1991 and I haven’t looked back. I’ve since learned how to play right handed because all the kit I would fill in on have the ride on the right. I had to train myself to play with my right on the ride. So now I play left on the hats and right on the ride if it’s not my kit. My kits all set up with one ride on my left and one on my right, and two snares...both on my left.

You know I “discovered” this band approximately 2 years ago and have followed them religiously since bc they have breathed new life into heavy music for this old school metal head. But the thing I noticed is that since I first started watching their videos they have been touring non stop and only took breaks to record the micro ep and the macro album. I mean I can’t believe how much they’ve played and you must realize they’ve done that even more before I knew who they were. So my theory about why they are so tight is just the sheer number of shows they’ve played. It’s interesting that as I write this they just played their first show since covid has shut them down. In fact they were both one of (if not THE last) metal band to play on earth BEFORE the pandemic ( they were in Mexico) and now one of the first to play a live show AFTER since the shutdown ( they played in Germany last night). During the pandemic they were actually apart from each other with Tatiana & Eugene in California while Vlad and Roman we’re back in Ukraine.

I always love watching this video of Perennial but today it's bittersweet because I was supposed to be at a music festival this weekend and they would have been performing today. Unfortunately, COVID had other plans in mind. As for the tattoo question, yes they hurt 😂 I can't give a general 1-10 on the pain factor because it really depends on where it is. I only have four so can only attest to what I have. My thighs - no problem (honestly, the side I was laying started to hurt more... getting old I guess, ha!), upper arm - fine, side/ribs - grueling. Anyway, really enjoy your videos and look forward to new ones!

Epic, epic performance! These guys don´t drop the ball....never! Good reaction, fun and entertaining. The info cards are always cool and informative. Want more live epicness from them? Try "On The Top" live in Kiev. Want a beautiful deep meaning song about their roots with a very Eastern-European feel to it and some lyrics in russian? Try "Retrospection" official video. Want an audio and visual epic journey? Try "I Speak Astronomy" official video. What do you want? :) Keep up the good vids, peace!

On the tattoo subject, it all depends on where. There are easy spots like the outside of your upper arm. There are bad spots like ribs, palm, foot, spine. Generally a 3 for me until they hit that one nerve and I remember that they are poking me with needles! My tattoo artist laughs at me when he does my leg sleeve we are currently working on. I come in a little tired on purpose and fall asleep on his table for the first few hours.

i currently only have one tattoo, on my right arm. i almost slept during the 3.5 hours session to get it. but from what people have told me, tattoos tend to hurt more on bony areas.....will also depend on you pain tolerance. Nirvana - Where Did You Sleep Last Night (MTV Unplugged)

It is such a big loud open air venue, the sound mix is decent but not the best. I like their small intimate bootleg show vids like Live in Paris 2018 is Killer

The song “Home Back” is great. It is about Russia annexing their hometown and them having to leave to escape and how they want it back.

Soo now that you're on the metal reaction scene, can you hop on the Nightwish train as well :) (Ghost Love Score would be a good start, live at Wacken as well) , the NW Army will follow :)

Tattoo’s don’t hurt as much as challenge you’re ability to withstand a visceral piercing on a consistent basis. The challenge is to go ‘somewhere else’ in your mind. I listen to an As I Lay Dying playlist of about 50 songs. I’ve actually fallen asleep several time getting my full sleeve done. It took about a year.

You are so right this band is so tight, everyone plays perfectly and one my favorite shows I've ever been too. Can't want to see them again. Wacken open air is one of if not the biggest metal festivals on the globe. If you want to see another band that is amazing together and another Wacken open air live show please check out NIGHTWISH. They are the best show I've been too. The music is a journey, just watch "Ghost Love Score" live at wacken. They have been playing for a long time and it shows.

On the outside I made a face now and then. Especially right at the start of a session and towards the end of a five to six hour session, when no more endorphines were released by the body. On the inside I cried like a little girl through all my tattoos.

Pray tell, Sir, have you heard of Nightwish? If not, I strongly suggest Ghost Love Score at Wacken 2013! You can thank me later. Just discovered you and love your content. Subscribed.

Tattoo pain: it depends in which place are you tattooing. Mine tattoo goes between 1-7 and in specific parts, goes to 10.

exactly - it depends on the size, too... the longer the tattoo session, the easier you reach the upper end of the pain scale... after a few hours there is no "1" there

Jinjer are definitely one of my favourite bands of the last few years. Saw them live in London last year, and they were absolutely killer. I think you also might appreciate Nightwish, this is their song "Ever Dream" live from Wacken in 2013. Wonderful performance: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z4nMZaFuma-WfJo
