Even more than just overthinking it, just pick one and work with it. Once you create a flow that works for you, you'll be confident in your experience. Started with FL, now using Cubase. I don't regret learning FL as I still use if for Idea sketching at times and the UI is very intuitive. However as I learn Cubase (still learning), I am more comfortable with my abilities. Am I the only one who uses multiple DAWs? I started in FL Studio, then I really honed my skills in Mixcraft, then I bought Cubase and now I can pretty much pick up any DAW quickly. I've been jumping around from FL Studio to Cubase to even Reaper, Studio One, and Reason. I just now tried Logic Pro X on a used Macbook I bought earlier this year. I've been a Windows user all my life. The music I make is a combo of Jpop and Industrial with chiptune elements. I just love DAWs lol 😂😅

I always switch back and forth between FL and Ableton every 4 to 8 months when I go through a "phase". When I want to mess with Loops and try crazy stuff..Ableton. When I want to bang out something real fast like RnB or Hip-Hop...FL. I used to Studio One until my MacBook died an early death and gave FL a try.

All of the mentioned above are good. I started with Magix. I loved it but it was crashing badly. Than I got FL studio and it was very stable but didn't feel right for recording audio. Than I got on Mixcraft. I was considered Cubase but than I returned to FL Studio. I think I am going to stay with it. I am not willing to explore anymore. By the way Mixcraft is not bad but I don't idend to update it anymore. FL Studio has improved enough and I feel I am going to stick with it.

Cubase user for 7 years here! For me problem is that i am just sooo much fas5er for cubase. tried other daws when mixing for my friends (at their pc). Reaper is great but oldish interface and less plugins. Ableton for cztting and object centred working is a disaster and samplitude is absolutely great for object editing and has super great plugins. Samplitude is probably the one I would switch to.

the best one is the first one you fell in love with. you learned it inside and out and think there's no other that compares. Any other one anyone says is the best you will be biased against since you will be comparing it to the one you love. Once you fall for one you don't want to know what the competition offers. @MTTC Yeah. It really is a good program. I hope to be a Neurofunk DnB artist one of these days. However, there does tend to be a problem with long-time FL users. Once it becomes your go-to, it tends to become hard to switch DAWs once you decide to leave it. It's like you become hooked on FL that you tend to forget that not every DAW is the same, and every one of them requires a different learning curve, making it harder to get used to them.

It's very difficult to produce every kind of music using only stock plugins of any daw. More often, they are designed with a particular genre in mind. Hence the modular the daw design, or the more customisable the DAW, the better. That's why I use Ableton it's unlike any other in terms of customization options for stock instrument and effects plugins.

For your particular needs I’d say Cubase is a great option. You can start out with the basic version which offers a great number of features to treat vocals and it will save you money until you get to grips with the platform. @@MTTC When I first started using FL, I stuck to Song mode. I still don't use Pattern mode. Some create a skeleton of a beat on one Pattern and then split each instrument to a different Pattern and go from there. I use each Pattern like you do in Logic or Ableton's Arrangement view. Check out BusyWorksBeats tutorials on FL. Once you get used to the Piano Roll.. You will be off and running in FL. I rarely use the Channel rack unless it's for hi hats or snares. Then I still nudge the midi over.

On top of that ableron just like reaper you have to search thru hundreds of settings to find what u want. In logic or protools you can easily find stuff.

@@MTTC Cubase - you could say, it is a musician/engineer's type of DAW. If you can play an instrument, you'll be at home. Not to mention if you're into recording live takes it is more than capable of running neck to neck with engineering/mixing DAW's like Pro-Tools or Reaper. I use it both ways for production and recording live bands. I have 24 analog inputs to feed my live room. So it's possible for me to record 24trks simultaneously. I normally mic everything, including keyboards. I like VST instruments, tho I prefer to re-route and mic them also. Most of my buddies are in-the-box type of guys. They use FL Studio or a Maschine/MPC. These systems are cool. I just can't use fl for any serious studio recording tho. It's not made to be a fully fledged DAW. It is moreso for beat construction like the MPC/Maschine. Logic, ProTools, Reaper & Cubase are The Big 4 when it comes to fully fledged recording DAWs. ProTools is great if you can afford to have the Avid Hardware, but w/o the hardware, it's just a name. Yet, it is great to learn it just in case you find urself sitting behind a studio console that is daisy-chained onto the Avid Hardware like most commercial facilities do. Make music !! Start learning with one of the Big 4. Everything after that is a piece of cake.

Former hardcore S1 user. Now back on Cubase 13. V13 has now all the S1 functions (dragdrop, lower zone, ARA etc.) too. BUT with way better stock plugins, vstis, better inspiting modern sample content. I cant live without SamplerTrack, Control Room, Render options e.g. Highly recommend I must say.

I currently use Studio One simple to use has ARA integrated Melodyne, has some good stock plug ins. Presence guitars are excellent to use and manipulate. Studio One feels smooth I like their pre roll count in. Mixing in Studio One is very good too.
