What amazed me was Tim holding that last note for a full steady fifteen seconds. See Avi make a cameo appearance in Champaign Taste on a Beer Budget. It was filmed while Avi was still there after doing Ring of Fire.

They started filming Champagne Taste right after this one (hours? minutes?) and since Avi was still hanging out with is buddies he did a quick wordless walkthrough in the camera frame.and moved to be seen in the very back. Full of Cheer, sort of the sequel to Champagne Taste, is a wonderful Christmas song and of course, funny. Tim looks so cute in his onesie.

Avi has a warmer tone to his voice than Tim does, but Tim has the lower range. That G1 that Tim not only hit, but held, at the end was incredible. 🤯✌️

Tim has changed the last note a bit. I saw them in April and he starts below the basement and works himself up ⬆️. It was mind blowing, and it shook my body. Having seen them live, that last note hits so hard, it almost takes your breath away. It makes your chest rattle! Tim holds that last note for about 13 seconds, that takes an amazing amount of air and breath control to pull that off. Great review, I hope you do get to see them live, you wont regret it

Sometime you should check out The Sing-Off version. It's a half note lower, so Tim's last note was even lower. It was that performance (and the judges' reactions) that cemented that they were the group to beat. Adam's choice to go to a reggae beat for such a revered country song was pretty bold, but it worked.

Oh, btw, there are a couple recordings out there of The Sing-Off performances. I recommend Ingrid Händel's recordings. They're higher quality than some of the older and, therefore, more viewed recordings.

I thoroughly enjoy Home FrYdays! This is song that announced to everyone (including Home Free!) that Home Free was a serious contender to win The Sing-Off. I'd recommend watching HF'S performances on The Sing-Off Season Four, especially Ring og Fire (3rd HF performance). Watch/ react to the individual performances, as you'll see some HF background and hear the judges' (Ben Folds, Jewel, & Shawn Stockman of BoyzIIMen) comments. It's fun to see HF at the beginning of their country a capella journey. (And baby-face Austin...)

I love their rendition of this song and I think the late Johnny Cash would be pleased that his song is being heard by whole new generations. Of course the singing, harmonies & beatboxing are terrific - they always are. Avi was still around when they did the video for "Champagne Taste" and does cameos in it. I've never had the pleasure of seeing them live; however, in the live videos Tim's bass is much bassier (is that a word?).

This song is done in a country reggae beat. It showcases the higher & lower ranges of both Tim Foust & Avi Kaplan. That last note of Tim is impressive with how low he goes, but more impressive is how long he sustains the note. On the "Sing Off Show" that Home Free won in 2013 Tim goes even lower on this song "Ring Of Fire" & he impressed the judges so much that they gave them a standing ovation. And Adam Rupp once again was stellar in his vocal percussion.

Chance and Tim have harmonized bass a number of times. "Skull and Bones" and "Auld Lang Syne" come to mind immediately. There definitely are others. 👍 You should check out the Sing-Off version of this! No Avi, of course, and Tim went even lower on that last note! Got a standing O from the judges. 😉🔥

We've seen them twice and they did this song as an encore. When Tim hits that "Bass Note From Hell," the vibration starts in your chest and then moves through your body. It's a really wild feeling. I definitely recommend seeing them in person. Always a great show.

If you want to hear a great example of Avi's vocal range, you should check out "Black Is The Color Of my True Love's Hair" . He did with Peter Hollins before leaving PTX. It's really amazing. Avi and Peter's voices compliment each other beautifully and Avi's lower range is jaw dropping. Enjoying your reactions, and hope you'll be doing more of Avi's solo music soon. There's a lot to explore, plus he is currently working on his second album. Can hardly wait to hear his new songs ! 😍

Ring of Fire in a more modern, somewhat reggea-like version, but still respecting the original. More than 4½ years ago this was the first video I saw/heard from Home Free. I got there because I was listening to Pentatonix at the time and Avi was my favorite. Immediately there was something that drew me to Home Free. From then on I followed them and after I think 2 videos I was a real Home Fry. I hardly follow PTX anymore. Avi still does, because Avi Kaplan and Home Free let me feel music and not just hear it. Their great harmonies, the unbelievably good beatboxing/vocal percussion and of course that incredible deep bass that makes the ground vibrate and your speakers explode. Personally, I thought Avi fit better with Home Free than with PTX. But that's my opinion 😊
