Muslim men in the west being completely immature is spot on. Because I am one. I need to grow up...

About half of adults in the USA and Canada are living with their parents. Nothing wrong with that. In fact, it helps them save on rent and build wealth early in their life.

I 100% agree with you I'm 20 and currently living with my parents. I'd like to move to a new apartment and live alone to mature as a man, however every time I address that topic to my parents, they get emotional and upset. They ask me why I'd like to move, if I'm not happy with them (of course I'm happy but I want to take the next step) and they tell me that they're afraid that my religion gets lost in the western world, as they wouldn't be able to see me all the time. And they also say that moving at such an early age is not a part of our culture and I shouldn't do that Mufti, do you have any advice on how I could address that topic and take the next step, without hurting my parents?

Find a place, and move. I get it. I moved back in with my mother with my two young kids after I divorced and felt so guilty every time I wanted to leave. I finally stopped waiting for her approval, and just did it. Eventually you have to rip the bandaid off. You’re not rejecting your parents, you’re individuating. That’s healthy. I know YOU know that, but the only way to prove it your parents is to stop seeking their permission, be man, get your own place, and still love and respect them as your parents. Continue to spend quality time with them, help them around the house but have your own space. You’ll be a better husband for it.

Astaghfur’Allah but as a new revert this is why I think I may be best to marry another revert. I am really wary of potentially having to to deal with a socially awkward brother born Muslim with a lot of cultural baggage. I am conscious of the fact that I’ve made a generalization but videos like this definitely seem to confirm my intuition.

Get out while you still can. You will never understand the wacky culture of arranged marriages. That little voice, deep down, that tells you these practices are backward is right - listen to it. Find a revert

@@JohnDelVentomusic Asalaamualaikum, brother. Thanks for the confirmation. Inshallah I’ll find a nice revert who’s on his deen, has strong iman but also has some relationship experience and understands how to navigate living as a Muslim the west.

@@Dr.JudeAEMasonMD This channel is not Islamic at all. You should never come here again. This is a progressive channel that even advocates for celebrating Christmas, which all scholars disagree with. Islam is perfect, but Muslims are not. From what I’ve seen from him he is probably not a Muslim

Ah man, why did it end early? I was actually enjoying what you had to say here. Which tbh usually I disagree with your videos or a lot of the things you say. I didn’t agree with everything but a lot of what you said made sense here and aligned with some of my own thoughts on the matter. For context of who I am, I’m a progressive socialist and secular minded liberal Muslim (formerly an atheist, grew up Christian) from the US, but I’m also from the rural south in the US, the most conservative and Christian part (I really hate it here) One of the things I notice is that family and community are not valued at all, even by people who claim to value that stuff, actually some of the worst people in the US are the conservatives who shout about how important family values are and stuff but then constantly gut programs that help families, or refuse to raise wages which forces a lot of pressure on families and causes both parents to have work and not have enough time for their children, etc, I think there is a lot of factors that go into creating this situation, quite often cultural phenomena can be caused by or are heavily influenced by material phenomena, I think a big part of the reason we do this whole “one person at a time but not for life” thing in the west is because relationships are simply just harder to maintain when both partners have to work all the time, and being over worked causes people to seek out “fun” in their free time, so when the relationship stops being fun, it becomes only stress, and it’s a stress that’s piled on top of a bunch of other stresses, so people say “hey I don’t want this, and I don’t even have the time to try to fix this, what’s the point, I should just find something else that’s fun” of course this isn’t a solution to the problem and leads to the break up of families and communities, everyone becomes an individual that’s only out for themselves. Anyway, I’m marrying a lovely Sunni Muslim girl from Iran in the next couple years, pray for me, I want this to last for life because I really love this girl, the good and the bad with her, I don’t fully know why either, it’s more than just a romantic love but I deeply care about what happens to her and want to build a good life with her and pursue our dreams together (to go live in Canada, to travel and see the world, to help people, and to be free people) and she wants to help me with my health problems and fully accepts my own flaws, but also loves my kind and protective nature. She’s an angel and I really want this to work and will do everything I can to make it work.

I should clarify, I’m exclusively talking about the US here. When it comes to other countries I can’t say, but one factor could simply be the fact that the US is so culturally influential that even if a place doesn’t have our problems they get influenced by our culture.
