Actually women have not been monogamous throughout history. Before the introduction of marriage / religion, women would have sex with who ever and then the community would raise the kids together (not knowing who the father was). This was the norm. This "monogamy marriage" is something quite new considering how many years we have existed on this planet.

I like that you try to base it on science. But most animals are not monogamous. Of the 4,000 mammals on earth, less than 5% practice it. You must be thinking about birds. 90% of birds are socially monogamous.

I love the mufti, but this is just completed nonsense unfortunately. "The female species" as he referred to is not a thing. Furthermore, in many species polyandry van be found and in fact there exist to this day human cultures where polyandry is the norm. So no, there might be an answer to that question, but this is not it.
@r9nger
@r9nger Жыл бұрын
This would be an appeal to nature fallacy if it wasn't completely inaccurate in the first place. First of all, marriage is a uniquely human practice so to compare human relationships to animal relationships is highly problematic. No animal (male or female) is monogamous in the same sense as a human being who marries one person. Despite this, polyandry is observed amongst insects, birds and mammals. According to a paper by Taylor, Price and Wedell, it can even be deemed common. I greatly appreciate that mufti saab said that it's not about telling people what to do because "women wouldn't want it so only men should be allowed to do it" would have been horrible reasoning, not worthy of an intelligent man.

I am terrible at biology but I heard that among all the animals human females are exception who actually enjoys sex. Other animal females either don't enjoy it or feel pain. Last time I checked there were almost 8000 reverse harem romance novel on Amazon Kindle where the female main characters were in RELATIONSHIP with more than 1 men (it was a recent trend which almost exploded). Also, probably most Japanese Otome games have options to end up with more than one husband if you end up liking more characters. And also most western and korean romanic movies and dramas have love triangles generally involving 2 men and 1 women but not vice versa . I think the success of BTS also was because they have cute boys who are very faminine and friendly to each other (rather than the usual dominant type). So, it seems human females also fantasies about multiple men/d*ck (but average men seems to be less beautiful than average women, so it's not that rewarding unless you are 0.01% of rich women who can afford cute boys). Do you think top human females would have practiced polygamy if they had the physical advantage? With modern technology physical advantage does not matter much and men and women are equal (at least in some places) which means men's dominance has decreased. Consequently, we are seeing more women practising open relationship without getting condemn as whore. One the other hand men are seen more negatively when they have multiple wives (previously it was seen as status thing). Do you think men and women both want polygamy but the dominant sex gets to have it rather than anything to do with sexual desire (after all luckily women won't find similar type of d*ck every time they remove pants and also every face is different). I think, some dominant queens had harem of young boys in the past (bold move for that time). I know women can't have more children just by increasing by number of men. But I am asking from a sexual point of view. Mufti Menk made it seem like women would find it terrible with multiple men but it seems more like society telling them men are bad (which is true a lot of time but I definitely won't say women are angels tho) rather than being anything to do with biology. Also, according to society you are a whore if you want multiple men.

Women carry offspring. Polyandry would make it very unclear who the father is (especially in those days). However, Khadija was married previously. She then married the Prophet. When I read about the temporary marriage Shias practice, it became clear that in those days you just needed a contract and you needed to manage your intimate relationships so everyone knew who the father was. however, these temporary short lived marriages were discouraged because it wasnt great for the kids

But a master can have multiple salves 😂😂. You've perfectly described the relationship between husband and wife in Islam. I respect you for being honest but a lot of muslims will deny you. But I don't think husband and wife relationship should be master slaves or father children. Just because some masters treated their slaves good that didn't stop us from banning slavery altogether. It's the same with husband wife relationship.
@frblaze2
@frblaze2 Жыл бұрын
@@KumarK-xm9np nope it's actually just an expression When I say slave, it means the wife is still beneath the husband in a hierarchy Just like a math teacher is higher than the students if in a university where the students may be 40 years old I don't mean treating them literally like a slave... Just like when I go to work... At the job I am a sort of slave to my manager.. The opposite can never be true... If a man came to your home and said.... Meh I think I'll uhh take your wife for a few hours... That just doesn't work... However if a woman comes in and takes the husband she may feel jealous but it doesn't go beyond that... The man is responsible for himself and the woman, the woman doesn't have real power over the men...
