Forget the scarf. As long as you didn't drop your beer. These ATVs are the official form of transportation where I live in East Texas. They are usually camouflage, usually four seaters, usually four wheel drive and usually with roofs. They cost upwards of $20,000 and sometimes have car seats for infants. I have seen small children driving these and every deer hunter owns several. They are by far the most stolen item in our area.

I bet most tourists think it is a touristic thing but sadly it isn't at all as i was only 5 years old when i first met one of those guys and he played with me so long i started yelling and crying even then he wasn't giving me my ice cream while laughing like a lunatic!! I guess he liked the scene of a little boy getting angry but soon i changed my mind and started to walk away while saying i didn't want it anymore then he ran after me and gave my ice cream while apologizing, i learned an important lesson that day😁😁 Also ''evil eye'' is a bad translation as ''nazar'' actually means somebody is jealous of you and wishing something bad happen to you, your family or things so we use them on new things such as a new car which would have a meaning like ''hey, don't be jealous of me rather work and buy your own car'' that some also believe such bad wishes might come true and evil eye would give protection!! It is superstition ofc but weirdly every civilization believed such curses, bad wishes etc from Romans to Christians and us Turks so perhaps it would be the best buying a cheap evil eye))
@TREADtheglobe4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment - yes the icecream guys are so quick - it's really quite a skill - as adults we laugh but I bet as a kid it's really annoying LOL !!! 😂😂 Thanks for the info on the evil eye - we have one on the hat that Murat bought for my birthday
@chestersemaver4 жыл бұрын
@Ggoddkkiller actually translation is spot on. In Turkish it’s called “kem göz” and literally translates as “bad eye” and according to TDK sözlük, equivalent of Redhouse and Webster, it’s described as “eye(s) that brings nazar 🧿 to whom it gazes upon, bad eye” So in theory, a nazar bead/eye 🧿 is supposed to chase away the bad and evil looks. Not cast out, though if the evil already lurking around after the kem göz (bad eye) had done its job if you like. Funny thing is I am not a superstitious person but I like how this cult or belief involved with Turkish Society’s daily life and end result being these various size magnificent looking glass icons of eyes🤓🤓 So I guess “nazar değmesin” 🙂

Another wonderful vlog from professional travellers. Well done, if I may say so. Oh, and about the evil eye beads, I have seen them in Tibet too. So, I was told that this "eye" thing that's supposed to protect the wearer from evil, spiteful, bad-wishing people's eyes came from (like most traditional things) from the Orient. If one of these break, it's believed that it got broken while protecting the wearer from an evil wisher's eyes. Or so they say...
