great video. Can you do a video on how to do selfies with the a7iii using the timer and remote at the same time and making sure the person is in focus? I was using the samyang 35mm 2.8 which is an af lens... I'm having trouble with this. thanks

nice vid. you can also smooth zoom with the wheel, at least on the a7iii you can, but of course, only to 1.5x, then again it's a 6k sensor so that 1.5x makes the clear image zoom a 4k output. It's pretty BA IMO.

Hi Jason, Thanks for all the videos you make for us. I have a question. I have been trying to find a remote app for my 7 rii. (Want to do Mast photography for real estate) Found one in "the play memories app", but in that one I can't adjust the settings with or focus, then I saw this video and thought this will be great for me. Using those two sounds like a great combo. But isn't there a better app out there where I can focus and adjust settings? Thanks again for a great learning and informative channel :)

You can also do smooth zoom by holding down the left or right buttons on the wheel. You can't set the focus speed on the a7ii.

How do you set up the a6500 to use the remote. I use it all the time on my two NEX 7's for synced A+B roll video editing, but unlike the NEX 7's which have a remote commander selection under the Drive Mode, the a6500 does not. I'm so happy to see that the a6500 works with the Sony RMTDSLR2, but need help on setting up the camera to respond to it? Thanks for any reply. Cheers :-)

Jason, I need your help. After watched this video, I bought one on 7/2019. Recently, I want to use it, but looks something wrong. Here is my procedure. 1. Open the remote control, make sure the battery is fine (I did not use it, should be fine). 2. In my A7R3, in setup tab, IR remote control = on. 3. From the manual of remote, it said set the drive mode to remote commander. I did not find it in 'drive mode', I tried single shot, self-timer, does not work. Do you know why ? Thanks a lot !!!

How did you get face AF in to work in 4K while using an external monitor? Are you using Time Code? In my experience once you plug something into the HDMI input on the A7III, the Face Auto Focus turns off. Any tips would be appreciated.

Hey Jason I got the remote- thanks for great tip its awesome, but wondering how you got it hooked up to the screen on the camera for taking selfies. I got my android phone hooked up on top of the the camera through the mount so that I can take the selfies, but if I connect the camera via the play memories app, the remote control doesnt work. Sorry Michal, I don't use the playmemories app to control the camera. IMO, it doesn't work well. I can see why the remote wouldn't work. The camera goes into a different mode when it's controlled via phone.

if anyone is having issues using the a7iii +remote for rack focusing change one of the buttons in custom menu to focus settings. I changed my right button from ISO to focus settings and it works now. I just changed ISO to the control wheel in custom buttons

When you're in video mode, the focus is always AF-C. no need to half press shutter as it will auto focus right away when it detects something as oppose to photo mode
