Most historians believe that the Dome of the |Rock was completed in 692 AD which puts your 1290 days at 1982. They may have started building in 688 AD but surely the abomination is what it is being used for after having been 'set up'. John Thomas could have been wrong in his beliefs that the 2 time periods begin in the same year. "and from the time of the turning aside of the perpetual [sacrifice], and to the giving out of the desolating abomination, [are] days a thousand, two hundred, and ninety." (Youngs Literal)
