After 45 years of walking up at 6.30am to work 12-hour shifts in a hospital taking care of sick patients, now I'm 64 and won't get out of bed till after 12 noon. Raised the family, cooked, and cleaned ext, and now I feel, it's my turn to follow what my body says to do. Thank god, I feel great and very very blessed. I have the usual aches and pains like everyone else, but I'm thankful I have a roof over my head, good children, and food on the table that, don't need or want anymore. Also, every single thing I have, I have from honest work, never steal, lie for money.

I argued that way for decades but when I listen deep into myself it's more an isolation to the outer world which is working better in the night than during the daytime. In my case I have that desire to isolate myself because that outer world which society creates drains so much energy from my system. But nowadays I think that I rather should put myself into the right environment instead of isolating myself from the world in order to avoid all this energy draining stuff. Could it be the same in your case maybe?

I have always been a night owl. I have really tried to become an early to bed early to rise person, and always fail. Night time is when I do my best thinking. It is blissful, peaceful, cool, when my brain is my most creative. I am free from daytime distractions at night and it’s when I get some of my best work done. I love listening to beautiful music at night. It sounds so much better then than during the day when my mind is more distracted with noise.

At first the birds were so quiet and hushed like they knew something was wrong with man. But after a while nature experienced a sigh of relieve that was held in for decades. The hum of man's motor was silenced. For the first time ever I relaxed in the peace and listened to the animals and the trees the wild things sang their songs.

I am a retired nurse. Over the course of my career, I worked every shift; days, evenings and nights. I liked night shifts because there were no politics. I have been a night owl for the majority of my adult life. It is 2:40 am as I write this. There is a good bit of evidence to support the idea that folks like us, who sleep very little at night are more likely to develop dementia. While this is a frightening prospect, I still struggle with insomnia. I hope this bit of information may be useful to others.

It’s called being a night owl and we need said night owl to work the emergency rooms and law enforcement shifts, basically any place that needs to be open to keep the world running smoothly. Most importantly you get the amount of rest you need to feel you best 💯. That being said let’s praise the early birds too that show up and relieve the night owls and bake the doughnuts in the wee early morning. That’s the most important right there. 😊

I knew this on a shallower level and now I really know the full extent of not going to bed at a normal, much earlier time and what the benefits are of going to bed a lot earlier and waking and getting up a lot earlier. What a great guy this is and he is a real blessing

What a relief it is to read the comments below. Even as a child I was a night owl. I was made to feel guilty and was spoken to by my parents as if I were lazy. In fact, the school system classified me as gifted and with an extremely high IQ. How I hated my mother waking me in the morning by pulling the pillow away so swiftly from under my head that my head bounced up and down on the mattress! By high school I managed to survive by registering for a first class that required little thought so that my brain could catch up to my body by nine. The teacher was so happy to finally have someone intelligent before her that she allowed me to choose whatever topic I wanted to research that related to food science and to generate papers on this, papers which I wrote at midnight. Good practice for university and for obtaining my degrees. Also beneficial the one summer in my life when I went to the same club every night and danced until 4 am, slept until 11 am, attended summer classes and slept in readiness for my night club appearance. And how lucky for me when I moved to the other side of the globe to Hong Kong to work for an international bank that allowed me to show up for work at noon. My boss knew that I was still thinking of work projects even in my sleep. It would be marvelous to meet all of you at what we could call The Midnight Club but of course, we are in different time zones and some of you would have just gone to Dreamland or were already out and about. I shall think of you when I drop off to sleep, anon… Like some of you commenting below, my sleep time starts from 4 am. Sometimes 7 am. The only issue is playing catch up with the rest of the world. Or the worst: Arriving at occasional morning appointments over which I have no choice time wise, which is torture. On the plus side I live not far from a Muslim town and I get to hear a concert, the muezzin call to the mosque, every morning at 4:30. On the downside, when everyone else has had their laundry already drying in the sun for several hours, I am only just waking at noon. And the poor animals are waiting to be fed. Thank you all for writing.

When you live and share a room with someone who is a snorer, you unfortunately can't go to sleep according to your own body clock, which is a pity really. As I'm getting older, I realise that living by oneself, having your own space and having total freedom is one of the ultimate goals, but due to financial strain, people are forced to live together, wherein lies many problems.

As I pray tonight beneath the clouds and stars, I pray all who suffer, both near and far…. Find the light that glows within, And remember the veil of illusion is temporary and thin. I pray we lift that veil which causes disillusion, And recognise the truth, of no separation. That most of our suffering begins in the mind, And there’s no death of the soul, we shall find. Just as we mature throughout our lives, Our relationships must change over time, for no-one ever remains a child.. Our forms change from young to old, then disappear, But our souls can’t be lost, despite our fears. As I look to the night sky with its whimsical ways, I trust in my heart, love for each other will forever stay. I can’t touch the clouds or the stars, but I know… They are an integral part of the way life flows. I grow through kindness, compassion and love, I look above and see all who have left that I’ve loved. I pray that I’ll remember, they can never be gone, They’ve simply changed the key, of their beautiful heart song.

I'm not a night owl. I function best during the day. The sun gives me the energy I need to get things done. It heals me and uplifts me. I become less functional during the night and my tank becomes empty in the night. This is the time for rest and recuperation for me. I was born at 3:02pm , so I'm definitely a daytime person.

OMG. I’ve woken up between 3 and 4 am almost every night of my life. I’m in California. I’m considered so sensitive, I have a doctor who wants to give me a mood stabilizer. I thought I was this way because I’m a caregiver and have developed a skillful eye so that I can make sure my patients are ok. Sometime being sensitive is too much. I make other people tired. I don’t think I’m initiated ‘though. I think in the caveman days, my type would be alert at night saving the tribe from danger..

"Sometime being sensitive is too much. I make other people tired. I don’t think I’m initiated ‘though." I also am super sensitive. So sensitive that I become heighten well above everyone else or manic. I was given mood stabilizer however I have noticed every single person who entered my house would fall asleep no mater what time it was. Six different people fell asleep. So I started to experiment with trying to wake them up without speaking or touching them. As soon as I started to burn SAGE they all woke up and some even before I lit the sage. Now I find your reply. Hmmmm things that make you think how information is being attracted to us.

I have been a night owl forever. As long as I remember,I preffered night. Or,as I should said,my body did,I had no saying. It was very hard when I had to go to school, because the world works differetly. We have to adapt. And bonus to that,no one understands. Just go to sleep they said. You can't. You can have no sleep prior night and day,and you are sleepy the whole day, when it is evening,I am avake, bright,my best self. My pain is not that hard, everyone leaves you alone. BUT. It can get lonely. I guess a few of us are born like that and can't be different. I tried everything. I am who I am.

I am always awake at night and I don't mind. The only problem is I have to hurry like hell to get everything done during the day, like go for groceries, go to an office or a meeting, to go to the hospital, to care for the people around me. Then I am so tired around 9pm but I still have to do laundry, tidy up, make planning notes for the next day, make my mom's breakfast for the morning, etc etc.. so around 2 am or 3am I am only finished with all my chores and then it is ME time and I enjoy it so much because that is the only part of the day that I get to relax, read, listen music and meditate or pray. I don't go to sleep before 5am and it is not my fault, because I have to take care of real estate, administration, household, be attentive to my mother and my boyfriend and I put my own needs aside the whole day I til late in the evening when they go to sleep, so that is the only time that is left for myself. It has been like this for more than a decade. I carry all their responsibilities and I just do not have time for myself and make plans for me. I only have time at night. For example, now I have been relaxing for 3 hours or so and shortly I will go wash my hair and then sleep until noon, then the whole circus of being the caregiver starts anew. Then they complain why I don't get up earlier, but they forget who is doing everything to make THEIR LIVES comfortable and carefree. So all the respect for early birds but I cannot be one of them, due to my circumstances. Kind regards to all, a night owl from Belgium. Peace. 🙏

Oh Miss Parsley, you must take care of yourself. I was the caregiver for my mom in her last few years of life so I understand. Perhaps your boyfriend can be more helpful to you? When I got married, my husband stepped in like a knight in shining armor and took care of my mom like he was her own. I even learned how to enjoy her more through his patience. Your health is important, even on an airplane your are instructed to put on your own oxygen mask FIRST even before your own children - why? Because you can't help anyone if you're dead. So, Sadhguru talks about taking responsibility. He doesn't mean taking the world on your shoulders. So, when you say "it's not my fault", you are giving up your power. I think a time management course would help you. Maybe the laundry can be sent out, maybe you can make planning notes for the week instead of everyday, maybe there's something your boyfriend can do like - the laundry or grocery shop. This will give you a little more time for YOU. I wish you the best Miss Parsely.

@@kimgaskins5537 thank you Mrs Kim Gaskins for your concern. So sweet of you. That phrase echoed in my mind, I have to put on my gasmask FIRST. If I drop on the floor, I can't help mammie anymore. Yes I have to try my best to change things. I must make notes on weekbasis if possible. My boyfriend helps a bit, but he works everyday fulltime from 10 in the morning until 7 pm, then I also make supper and he is also tired and has a bad back-condition, so I cannot depend on him for helping a lot, but he does his part. He has driven a lot already for the many times we had to go to hospital consultations and he does the dishes every night. Still a lot falls on my shoulders and I don't have children or other family to delegate things upon. But as long as I can, I shall take care of mama. I was making notes for the nurse as we speak, tomorrow at 8 am she comes here and then I will still be asleep, but that's fine. I just have to learn to not keep working until the morning hours. Thanks again for your nice words and lots of courage also for you, who has lost her dear mom. Now around the Holidays, that must be very sad. God bless you madam.

When I was around 9 or 10 years old, I woke up at 3:33am on Xmas morning to the most amazing and wonderful Xmas I've ever had and have been up at that time nearly every day of my life ever since. I'm 50 now. I have a fellow might owl friend and we really get creative with our ideas and arts during the wee hours. While the rest of the world is sleeping. We even used to get home from the nightclub around 3am then we would Bar B Q on the front porch. Fellow night owls🦉 say WHOO WHOO

Ok, So you can use this Sadhguru's advice) eat fruit diet, 1-2 or 3?) times a day with gap at least 5-7 hours, cold shower before go to sleep, and after waking up, instead of gym you can do sadhana, for example Surya kriya (alive teacher must have to learn)) and Isha kriya, so five-and-a-half hours will be more than enough to sleep well, profit!)

Do you really "have to work" ? If you worked all your life and made no time for living . then what are you here for ? Many people work so much they destroy their body and health , have arthritis and pain and then cannot enjoy anything "when they retire" What is the point in working for a living in such a way that it kills your body health ? Are you working a job as a distraction to avoid working on yourself ? If you work 60 hours for an employer , i guarantee you that work on your own self has more value than the work you did for that employer. So why not work on yourself to achieve greater value ? Exercise the body and mind , sit quietly and find clarity and truth. With clarity in mind your activities will achieve more things of value.

I like this and I agree, this is true! I've been also always a early bird and I'm a high sensitiv person too. I can feel what other people feel (also with animals and more), what has always goes through to me automaticly like x-rays (and it seemed to me that I can't do anything against this) and it was the most time hurt-and painfull or unkomfortable, then 2004 I started to protect myself, so I starts to build a wall around me, to protect myself to not get broken. I don't like this story with the donkey, because a sensitive person don't like it to broke, abuse or beat animals or humans. Your heartless Guru has also beaten You also with a stick and treats you unhuman coldhearted and it was sadistic cruel what he did to you all the years and it shows that he was not able or willing, to be a loving warmhearted person / guru for You and he have not understand the beauty, the value and worth of life, of Your life . Humanity have a lack of sensitivity, sensibility, empathy and compassion. However, I love You too Sadhguruji, You are also once in a lifetime. 💓🌸🌺🕉🙏
