Great reaction! Another great Thanksgiving movie that doesn't get alot of talk about is from the 90s and it's called Home For the Holidays! I highly recommend it! It has Holly Hunter, Robert Downey Jr., Anne Bancroft, Claire Danes and Dylan McDermott. Also you pretty much have to watch every John Hughes movie. They are all classics! This movie diverted everyone's expectations by not saving the big fight between the two characters for the very end. Instead they get it out of the way early. And then they continue the comedic antics from there.

From Breakfast Club, to Vacation, to Home Alone, to Uncle Buck (another great John Candy role!), to 16 Candles! The list goes on and on! Steve Martin & John Candy are comedy gold!!! If you loved this, you gotta see John Candy (who is Canadian) in the movie "Canadian Bacon" - which is the only film Michael Moore ever directed that was actually freakin' funny. :) Candy plays a Sheriff in New York who leads an American invasion of Canada. Hilarity ensues! :) Another fantastic John Candy film is "Cool Runnings", about the first bobsled team to ever compete in an Olympic Winter Games. Set and filmed in Calgary (with some scenes show in Jamaica), it captures just how fun these guys (in real life) were and how Calgary - and the world - came to love these plucky underdogs. :)

Fun Fact.....I grew up in Western NY. About 25 miles east of Buffalo. A little town named after an Island in Greece. Attica. When they were filming this, there wasn't enough snow in the Chicago area so they moved filming to a little city 10 miles north of Attica called Batavia. All the interstate scenes were filmed there as well as the scene on the bus. One of the people in military attire sitting behind them was a kid from my highschool.

There’s an added poignancy to the final scene when you know that it was originally scripted and filmed with Mrs Page believing Neal had been having an affair. Therefore she feared all the events were just Neals excuses for not coming home so he could be with the other woman. It’s only at the moment that she says “Hello Mr Griffith” that she knows it was all true and she had nothing to fear.

@@prestigeworldwide5239 Never understood why they changed it in the edit as it does make her reactions weird. There's enough jollity in the rest of the movie to allow for a little pathos in the backstory. Still, great movie though.

John Candy- Only The Lonely, The Great Outdoors Steve Martin- The Jerk This film is SUCH a heartwarming classic🥰 El Rancho Motel is still there in Gurnee IL. Sevl of the car scenes were filmed in the area (41/(Skokie Hwy, 120, Grand, etc). About 5-6 yrs ago or so they took down the original El Rancho sign & put up a tacky ‘modern’ sign. Noooooooooooooooo!!!! I cried😩🤣😂😡 I’m still trying to figure out why Gurnee IL ever had an El Rancho hotel in the first place🤔😆 Restaurant next to it, Fatman’s (I kid you not) has a decent Fri nt fish fry. A wonderful movie some consider ‘Thanksgiving’ as the setting leads up to Christmas is ‘Lovely Still’. Beautiful. Ellen Burstyn, Martin Landau, Elizabeth Banks, Adam Scott. Certainly reminds us all to be thankful for the folks in our lives!!! As always- such a fun film ride along; Thank You! Stay safe & love much💖

You might be the single most wholesome KZbin react-er I've ever seen. I've probably watched a half dozen reactions to this film, and none of them picked up on the truth about Del's wife earlier than you did. You noticed that he never phoned his wife and you remembered what he said about not being home for years. Well done. Now. We need to have a talk. You have GOT to learn who Steve Martin is, who John Candy is, and who John Hughes is. And you might need to learn who Kevin Bacon is, too, since you didn't seem to recognize him, either. (He was the guy who was racing Neal / Steve Martin for the cab early in the movie, and he's a pretty huge movie star.) Find out what "Six Degrees Of Kevin Bacon" means - you'll get a kick out of it. But Hughes, Martin, and Candy are all involved with a massive number of comedy classics. It would take up Way Too Much time and space to discuss all of them here, but you should definitely look into their work. John Hughes was a writer, director, and producer (sometimes just one or two of those things, sometimes all three) and he had a hand in: Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, National Lampoon's Vacation, Weird Science, Pretty In Pink, Home Alone, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, and many more. He passed away in 2009 at the age of 59. Steve Martin was a world-class stand-up comic before he broke into films. You should watch The Jerk, The Man With Two Brains, Three Amigos, his brief but memorable role in Little Shop Of Horrors (1986), Roxanne, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (
