Great video kid. I like the initiative you show. Small tip from a pro... when disconnecting the tie rod, strike the flat spot on the spindle with the hammer. Thats why its there. It will allow you to disconnect the tie rod easier than it was by striking the castle nut, and it also enables you to reuse the tie rod without risking damage to the stud, the threads, or the castle nut. The same trick works for ball joints as well. If you need further clarification please feel free to PM me. Im always happy to help a young gear head with their learning curve. Keep wrenching and doing such great videos. Good job man.

Hello Thatlowdsg, I am helping with a K member on a Bullit, never done one before. Your video was very well done. One tip, loosen both control arm bolts and the control arm will swing down easily. Then take the front bolt completely out. Remove the nut from the rear bolt and the arm can be lifted enough to remove the rear bolt. Your mechanical skills combined with excellent videos are a great help. Keep going. AbueloJim

Great video I appreciate it. One question… well maybe a few you removed all of that cuz your installing a new K member and new parts? So, I’m just trying to install long tubes and would like to keep as much of the things I can have attached to the K member like the A-arms, and power steering rack and like you just station it forward near the front of the radiator with the lines attached hopefully they can reach pretty far or far enough it doesn’t get in the way of space. So I do I have to remove it all to install the headers cuz most of that stuff is attached to the K-member except the frame bolts and motor mounts or engine mounts and etc? Any advice would be appreciated. Thinking of tackling this project this Saturday- Tuesday

@Thatlowdsg

I appreciate it but if you’re just doing that reseal follow this video as proceeds. Then once you have the K member completely loose just lower it with a jack slowly till you can get to the seal (break the bolts first while the K member is secure) but that should be it

If your just doing an oil pan seal you can leave the control arms on leaving the shocks still connected to the knuckle but not the camber plates. Ive also added lowering springs with caster camber plates. still cant get rid of the sloppy feeling :/ not sure where else to go now.

@Thatlowdsg
@Thatlowdsg Жыл бұрын
The only difference I can think would be the motor mounts, should use the same K member and design / process and since your doing the pans you won’t even need to fully drop them

You had the engine on a hoist? While you were doing it?
@Thatlowdsg
@Thatlowdsg 3 жыл бұрын
Yes you need a brace or something supporting the engine when you do this job. Because the K member and motor mounts keep your motor in place / support the engine so if you replace your K member or remove it you need an engine hoist or some sort of cross brace like I used!

For you people that their car is not as clean as his is, cut your control arm bolts out. Lots of times they don't come out as easy as his did. Make sure you order the bolts as you just can't find them at any auto parts store. CJ Ponys and LMR have them. A ball joint stud tool and a tie rod stud tool will make removing them easier too. Oh get the spring back in is made a lot easier with a maximum motorsports front spring installation tool.
