Holy shit a bench seat? Thats so incredibly rare! This is the third one I've ever seen.

Love the setup and a sneaky place to put an amp. Cruchfield sells small plastic speaker enclosures for the 6x9s that'll further blend the speaker 'guts' into the back seat area.
@MustangConnection110 жыл бұрын
Thanks Joe, I may have to check out the speaker enclosures. Thankfully they are tucked pretty high up so it's all hard to see.

Good Video! I really like how your Amp is mounted. and how the speakers look Factory /also the Subs behind the seat are Simple and make sense. I will try to mimic your set up on my 69 Pony. Except i will use a Aftermarket Sony Bluetooth Stereo . Your system sounds Clean !!!

I like a sound system that has quality sound and not just a distorted bass that will rattle the bumpers off...That looks and sounds good...I particularly like to listen to the sound from my exhaust but that's another story.

Thank you, I know the car has a very nice Magnaflow exhaust on it, so it's my favorite tune as well.

Thanks Dave, I love stealthy stuff like this and hate those aftermarket "vintage" fit stereos, they all suck.

So cool , so did that shop do the conversion and parts that were installed when you say not China replacement core/guts. Thanks and what was replaced as of parts in head unit. Thanks again very cool . Also how much for just the head work

Very cool. I think I'd be interested in doing this to mine if the price was right. I was actually looking for an aftermarket one but this is cool.
@MustangConnection110 жыл бұрын
Thanks Billy, It is not any more than buying an aftermarket unit and I really like having the factory unit in place. They make better "vintage" look new units for 65-6 cars than they do later cars.
@Cobrafanatik2210 жыл бұрын
What company did this? And did they replace the chrome pieces? Very interested.

Long story but I found 1 guy in NY to do the initial conversion. He cleaned it up, put an internal amp and the ipod jack. It was a pretty decent core to start with so no new chome or cosmetics After taking it to my local stereo guy, it was determined the unit needed RCA preouts to properly run the amp and they sent it out and had that done. He assures me he has a guy that could have saved my first go round. Best to have a phone chat if you wanna go this route and I will give you better insight.

Very trick set up. How much did the conversion run?

It was a few hundred after all was said and done but well worth it, can't beat the original look with modern sound. Thanks for checking it out.

Very nice. Do you happen to have the ford part number for the radio? I am looling for one. Got an idea. Mount the radio (working or not) add the speakers and amp. Then use a bluetooth adapter as the amp input. I havr several old Android phones and Apple Itouch mp3 players. Connect via bluetooth and music is on. No FM but I don't listen to radio much anyway. There are FM aps for the Android OS?? Just another idea. If I get the prototype running I will make a video.
@MustangConnection110 жыл бұрын
wolfeman351 Thanks and I don't have the PN for the radio, I do know that it's one year specific. I like your blue tooth idea, and that would make for a great video. I know that an AM can be retrofitted to carry an IPOD adapter but I think it's strictly Mono.

Did you ever mention who did the work on the radio? I'm nearing completion of my resto, and would like to do something similar w/ the stock radio (am/fm stereo) I pulled out...
@MustangConnection19 жыл бұрын
William Cooper In the end Galaxy autosound reworked the work I had done if that makes sense. Their contact info is in the beginning of the video.

That sounds really good. Where did you get it retrofitted? My 68 came with am from factory. Like to keep the stock look. Want to add fm and some outputs for accessories.

Frank Beato Frank, I had a guy out of NY do the initial conversion. I am not sure what they can do with an AM only radio. Let me find his info and I will drop you a message.

Thanks for checking in,If there was not old crummy repairs done I would have left the deck lid wavy. Most virgin Shelby deck lids fit quite rough fit and are oceanic. I did not have much of a choice but to smooth it out

Where did you have the radio upgrade and restoration done? I have a '70 Mach 1 with the same radio that I want to have the same thing done to and upgraded to power an ipod.

Thank you. I looked through his website and found the information on the conversions helpful and very informative. I called Richard and told him what I had and what I wanted to do. Really nice guy. He told me what he did to the units and gave me a ball park quote. He said he gets and sends back restored radios to locations all over the world. I told him I'll be sending my unit back to him to restore as soon as I take my dash apart. Thanks again for this video and the information.

Great and glad it helped, please make sure and mention you mention you found him on Mustang Connection.
@ACowGirlFan7 жыл бұрын
I did. And I mentioned that I had watched your video and that you had included a portion of his video in yours and how pleased you were with the work he did. (He probably already knew that) I told him I'd be call him when I got the dash apart to let him know when I'd be shipping the unit back to him, so I will mention you again then.
