Hello from Alaska! I love that you show photos of your past self in your illustrative examples. We all buy into fads/trends, and the fact that you have too is very relatable. Thanks for your research and tips!

Great explanation of trend vs fad! The examples really brings the definitions home. Glad to see the strange front tuck / half tuck fading out! Glad your wrist/arm is on the mend. Happy 2025

Love that sweater! And the comments from ladies who’ve been wearing the same style for years and refuse to consider anything new😂I’m imagining a lot of 3/4 length trousers and tunic tops . Have a lovely Xmas.

Sorry about your wrist. A friend has a very bad break a year ago and it looked doubtful as to whether she's get back the function and if the deformity would go. Thanks to her persistence in exercise and acupuncture, her Dr is delighted with the pedigrees and so is she. Merry Christmas and thank you for all your hard work throughout the year.

Had to smile watching you do the wrist exercises, I remember them well after I fell and broke my left wrist just over 12 months ago. Very painful 😮 and what a nuisance. So now I also have a plate in there and a lovely scar to show for it. It will take time but keep up with the exercises and you will get full mobility back. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Yes I have the plate and lovely scar 😴. I'm massaging it with Bio oil. My wrist is twice the size of my healthy one from the swelling still.

Love a classic as my basic wardrobe but I do like a bit of a trend item to accompany it and keep things fresh, throw on the odd fad and it makes me feel upto date, I tend to alter clothes anyway so if you have something unique no one will know if it’s a trend or not 😁 , oh I got the M&S putty coloured boots, absolutely love them , hope your wrist gets better soon . Love to hear your take on things you make sense ❤️

In the 60s a big fad was a Nehru jacket, and I had one. It lasted less than a year. But at that time I felt very "with-it". The last fad I wore (age 16-17).

Actually, they were quite popular in the ninties, here in the UK.

Nicely explained! I kind of sensed this, but you really clarified it. I’m too old for fads, but just the right age for trends!

This was interesting, thank you. Mustard never suits me so I didn’t buy into that. And I just don’t like animal prints or metallic shoes/ boots but sandals are lovely! . Most of my choices are neutral classics. Love burgundy, it’s great to see all those choices in the shops. Thank you, I always look forward to your channel. Xx

A proper trend has the potential to become a classic. A fad doesn’t . Just don’t buy fads. Stick to classic shapes is the moto of the video. Thank you for agreeing.

Same here! You should walk around the streets of Inverness! I am 70 and always been interested in fashion. Its difficult here, partly due to the weather, which changes swiftly, due to the mountains, but also lack of good shops. However, most women my age, don't even seem to try. I don't think its money, several of my friends say they're not interested in how they look - but they worry about hell if they are seen as older than they are! Work that one out!

When did you break your wrist ?! I did mine on 31st Oct . One doctor wanted to do surgery and put in a plate, but the consultant over rode her and I've just had a cast. It's now off and i have the splint and exercises to do. Like you, i can hardly bend it at all !! It's my dominant wrist and i live alone so it's been a nightmare !! Good luck with the physio and thanks for an informative video ( love the ivory boots and have been wearing some similar for the past 3 years !!) x
@Myover50fashionlife4 күн бұрын
Mine was done end November. It was the consultant that recommended surgery. A friend had the same consultant and she was advised no surgery so the consultant seems she weighed up options for each of us fir our own damage. I broke distal radius. The exercises hurt don't they!!

@@Myover50fashionlife I am from the US, We had "cardigan sweaters" that buttoned down the front and '"pullover sweaters" that you pulled over your head. A jumper was a sleeveless dress that you wore over a shirt or a blouse. My ex referred to the top of his naval uniform as a jumper.

@Myover50fashionlife9 күн бұрын
Suede has only just come in for autumn and winter. It’s a material so therefore not a passing fad so won’t go out as such.. Wear suede if you love suede. I love it. Ignore any mention of suede going out when it’s only just arrived I’d say. Obviously not in the summer or spring but great for the winter. Short uggs are being worn by many on Instagram. Wear them too.

Confused explanation about changing an item to make it into a fad/trend. And tassels? they've been out of style for years and years, why even mention them?
@Myover50fashionlife17 күн бұрын
@luluandmeow yes you are right , tassels have been out for a while. I just get so fed up with the word trend being used for fads which encourages short term waste of money. I wanted to explain the difference so as we stop falling for short term must buys because oh everyone will be wearing them! And the reality is they don't.
