some ítems can patch some characters weaknesses without being completely OP, a raygun can help ganodorf being outspammed, a beam sword may help zelda or palutena get better melee range, or a rocket belt can help little mac recover better (his aerials arent the most effective, so you can still gimp him without much fear)

Shoyoumomo They really are. I'm not going to say they have a place at tournaments (for many reasons), but they get real fun and add a lot when you use them to their potential. Spot-Dodging/Super Armoring a Critical Hit or Screw Attacking to Luigi Cyclone just makes things even more hype sometimes.

The salt levels alone make them unreasonable at tournaments. This was a $1 money match and M2k got super salty over his losses, imagine how bad it would be with a real cash prize that you lost to a Boss Galaga, Beetle, or Gust Bellows...or any of the super OP assists/pokemon.

I expected items not pokeballs. Honestly disappointed. pokeballs, Smash balls, and Assist trophies. This is the worst items game. It's all or nothing when it comes to items. Or at least choose GOOD items. Honestly tilted by this.

For all of you people who don't fully understand why items are banned: Yes, it is partially because they are random, but also because they give someone stage control that they didn't earn. In regular competitive smash, stage control is usually earned based on the skills of the players. However, when items are on, someone with very little stage control can have an item spawn on what little part of the stage they do have control over. They can then use this item to gain more stage control, therefore they increase their chances of getting an item on the part of the stage that they control. They can keep repeating this process until they have full stage control, and at this point it can be almost impossible for the other player to get any control back, because they have to work around so many items. This is seen as unfair and it does not accurately portray skill in other parts of the game. This is why it is banned. So if someone asks you why items are banned, don't say, "Because they are random." Instead say, "Because they ruin the concept of stage control."
