@tombodge Most people clean and oil the filter after each ride, But it depends on where and how you have been riding... I personally clean it every 2-4 rides, I used to do after each ride but it was just a waste in oil and time

There not bad considering they come with a few things my 2012 YZ250 don't have like V-Force 3 reeds, hydraulic clutch, FMF Factory Fatty and silencer and a digital ignition adjustment. You can get a KTM 250XC 2stroker for around 7,600 if you shop around. It cost me a grand to get my bike where it is for Enduro races, its still not tamed enough even with flywheel weights so I got a loan for a 2013 Husaberg TE250 for 7,576. They have a better suspension than KTM and there built strictly for Enduro

Is this better than just using a spray cleaner and then spray oil? the spray type sure is simple

I was told to put a smear of grease on the foam, where the foam seals on to the air box. Thoughts.?

Don't be so sure, a cleaned filter is as good as a new one for atleast 5 washes then it starts to go to like 99% then degrating at a curve of 3degrees diagram wise. For races they definately get a new one but pros practice so often they cant have giant stacks of filters laying around in their house/shop.

Etienne Zybrands if you dont want dust getting in there if it does carb can get dirty and piston will wear faster
