my hair tips: - get a hair cut when you start seeing split ends - try massaging castor oil/coconut oil onto roots and ends every 2-3 days for oily hair, nightly for dry hair, depends on how your hair feels to you - no heat - no hair dye - only wash when feels oily/dirty, depends on hair type and personal preference - try dry shampoo in between washes - silk pillowcase - use Nexxus/ogx shampoo & conditioner for your specific hair type (try other brands, I just use these two because they are highly rated and cheap) - use shampoo brush - only use enough shampoo to cover scalp and let the rest rinse down into the rest of the hair (2 dime size amounts for all hair lengths/types) - use old t shirt/microfiber towel to dry hair after shower (gentler than regular towels) - brush from ends to roots, not roots to ends (unnecessary stress on roots) - gentle hair ties & hairbrush (scrunchies & Wet brush) - gentle hair styles that don’t pull on scalp - stay hydrated & eat healthy (omega3s, fatty acids, etc.)- fish oil pill daily if not enough moisture and nutrients in everyday foods- avocados, etc. - take biotin supplement daily - try clipping method- clipping up sections of hair along part to create volume while wet

I went through this and was also battling addiction at the time, been sober going on 5 years now, but at that time I ended up in the hospital and begged the nurses to shave my head, they wouldn’t lol but I was so sick and I t hurt too much to brush it out. I ended up going into a coma for a few days and when I woke up they had detangled my hair for me, bless them. I then had it cut to my shoulders until I recovered. Been growing it since! Love the braid at night tip. I have shorter/medium length hair so I do two side braids. Once my hair is long enough I will do one braid. If I don't do my braids at night I severely regret it in the morning as I am a frizzy mess so I am sure this helps protect my hair a ton. Anna, as always great tips for keeping healthy, long hair. Silicone and sulfate free has made a huge difference for my scalp and hair. The sulfate dried out my scalp and hair. And the silicone in curl sculpt made my hair greasy, weighed and flat. I can go every three days without a wash easily. When my hair gets longer, I will buy Argan oil for the lower half. Yes, protective braid at night, with a satin pillowcase really provides healthy hair and a stress free sleep. Also wood brush, and hair towel by aquis from Amazon has helped protect hair. I am finally learning from all you young gals!! I love it!! Also eating many more fresh vegetables, with quiona, high in fiber and protein. Everything is working together for a better life and better scalp and hair. Also, thanks for the tip on shipping split ends. That will be a huge help later on. Lastly, your hair looks beautiful as your are making the commitment. Way to go!! Keep it up and beauty treatment can be fun, in our free time!!! Thank you so much!! Prayers and Blessings.

My tips: Stop using hairbrushes, only use combs. Apply coconut oil or olive oil to the ends of your hair every night. Comb your hair 4-5 times a day. When you apply the conditioner, don't try to rinse it all out. Some of it should be left in the hair and work as a leave in. Use a t shirt as a towel. NEVER put your hair in a ponytail. Always do braids.

Great advice as always! But what is the difference between all the calia shampoos for dry hair? One is moisturizing, one hydrating and the other for dry hair? What's the difference and how do I find out which one works for me?
@OrganicallyAnna5 жыл бұрын
Louksna F the Purifying for dry hair is my favourite because it really cleanses my scalp but it doesn’t leave my hair feeling dry or stripped. The Purifying for normal-oily hair is a little more Purifying than the other one. The hydrating shampoo, or any hydrating products, really help to bring moisture into the hair strands. This is great if you only wash your hair once a week or if your hair really needs intense hydration. Moisturizing products, or the moisturizing shampoo/conditioner help to moisturize the hair cuticle and keep it flat, so it looks shinier, smoother, and less frizzy. It’s really good if you wash your hair more often!

I'm 39 and have about 10% grey hair. I want it long but need to dye my hair. Any recommendations for long dyed hair, so it won't be too dry or damaged?
@dianas74294 жыл бұрын
Dye it while using low volumes of peroxide (not more than 20, 10 is best), as the higher the volume the greater the damage. Go to an hair dresser that uses olaplex and ask for the olaplex add on in the dye, it's great to not ruin your hair. Or, instead of this you could try colouring hair masks that colour your hair a bit but also do not damage it as the dye does. However, the color will probably not attach very well, colouring masks are supposed to only refresh the dye.

Ellie King eating healthy foods and taking vitamins is super important for growing out your hair. Once the ends start to split though, it’s important to trim them as needed. You don’t have to cut them all at once, but every few months take off a little until they’re gone. When preventing them, maybe try using a protein treatment every now and then to strengthen the hair, since you’re already doing a good job of hydrating it. The rice water rinse is super easy to do and it’s really effective!

People keep trying to convince me to do the keratin treatment, but I really wanted to get my healthy hair back without having literally stick straight hair all the time. What do you think - is keratin treatment ok? Maybe I'm just being stubborn

If someone has protein sensitive hair would you still recommend the leave in conditioner? I’ve been searching for one but my hair and coconut oil do not mix well at all lol

Dana Badala There are leave in conditioners without coconut or protein. Shea Moisture has them. One is their low porosity leave in and the other is the Manuka honey. As I am has one. I forgot the name. Many many more.

How often do you oil your ends and do hair masks? You have helped me so much. I am still struggling with split and dry ends.

Thank you so much! I usually do them once a week, but I use a daily oil on my ends to keep them hydrated
