So excited to be included in your list. We love Micarta too and actually made 3 protos with OD green, Natural and Burgundy. It isn't as stable as G10 or CF and it wouldn't stay flat enough. Due to the name Shadow, we started with black G10 and keeping the color subdued we have also machined gray handles. Since we hate to give up, Micarta will be back in the plans (solved the issues). Made 10 ti ones for Blade Show and they'll be back later next year. CF will be pricey but that is also in the plans. Our first batch of 175 Shadows assembled very smoothly then all of a sudden batch 2 caused assembly headaches with centering. We are back on track with lots in the works. Thanks again for loving your Shadow. Marianne Halpern Owner

That's so Awesome! I have all those knives too! In my dreams. Also, you really need to try Toor Knives new folders. Their first batch of folders were a learning curve but, they got them figured out now. As Tactile Knife proclaims, Toor makes everything in house. Plus they are veteran owned and operated which is a huge plus in my book. Great group of people. I just purchased their Merchant 2.0T and it's so Awesome! I plan on getting the Suitor and Chasm as well. I feel the Suitor would look Damn good on ya!

My favorite knife acquisitions of 2021 are Benchmade 535-3 carbon fiber S90V Bugout, Protech Malibu, Shirogorov F3 NS, TRM Neutron 2, Mark Varga VBR Gen 2, Sharp By Design Micro Evo Typhoon, Spyderco Black DLC M4 Paramilitary 2 with custom Fat Carbon Blue Dark Matter scales from Sharp Dressed Knives, Hinderer XM-18 3.5" Skinny Slicer, Civivi Bo with blue carbon fiber, Civivi Cogent, Civivi 14C28N Drop Point Brazen, and Civivi Pintail. Civivi is the best budget knife manufacturer hands down in my opinion and they released some amazing models this year. I tried really hard to like the Umnumzaan, but just didn't like the super rough, sandpaper-like titanium handles and the insane lock stick on all 3 Zaans I've bought and sold. I know you love this knife but other than the fact it's built like a tank, it's just not something most people would consider for EDC'ing. It's a knife built for people that need an extremely tough workhorse of a knife to use for very demanding tasks / job. However, in that case, I'd rather carry a Hinderer XM-18, Jurassic, or Eklipse over a Zaan any day.

I got the FF stinger last year sometime when I saw your best knives under 100 video. I had to take it apart when I got it because the blade was almost laying on the show side and would not center, but once I got it fixed I would say you’re spot on with the shiro comparison. Really fast and smooth action and a laser beam blade geometry.

My top 5 knives of the year (in order of size) 5: spyderco McBee (the best tiny knife ever) 4: Case small Texas jack knife (my favorite full traditional knife that I didn't feel like it was limiting me with its traditionalness) 3: We Gentry (I have to dress up real pretty for work so I need a beautiful dress knife and it helps that it's the best slip joint I've ever felt) 2: Benchmade Triage (this is my first Benchmade knife and also my most modded knife. Tip sharpened, mirror finished on all metal parts and blade, squid red g10 handles, pivot screws blued, tentacle engraved into the blade.) 1: tops C:A:T (great knife with a perfect sheath. Concealed carried this while sweating on it all summer and had only surface rust easily removed. Durable apocalypse knife) Honorable mention: Tops Prather Bowie (I got it last year but really didn't carry it until I got a Kidex sheath with Molly attachments to put it on my camp/ditch and run bag. Beast of a knife and I'd kill a bear with it)

If I could have just one it would be the Cold Steel Espada Large with polished G10 and 7075 aluminum bolters and s35vn blade steel because of it's toughness and edge holding qualities , it's just a outstandingly beautiful pocket sword folder that everyone should own one that's a pocket knife enthusiast IMHO. 💰⚔️🎱⚔️💰 Cold Steel Espada XL and Large are both two of the worlds best blade ever made and hands down the strongest lock up to secure you digits. ⚔️🤓😳🤓⚔️

I picked up a Buck 110 2021 limited edition, and it is so sweet. Pocket clip and thumb stud on an old classic knife, with aluminum and carbon handle it's less than half the weight of my old brass buck 110. It's still very large for a pocket knife, but it's built like a tank. If I were a rich man, I'd be buying all the knives you recommend, though. lol

Not knife related, but a quick question about your EDC, you don't cover lighters, and I always have one as part of my EDC. I don't smoke, so it's maybe on the prep side, but having one on me does come in handy from time to time. Is this something you might cover? I've just ordered myself a NextTool Flagship Mini (I have the full size one, which I really like, but it's a bit of a lump to carry) and I'm looking at stainless steel lighters to accompany it for my EDC, so the question came up.

I simply could not justify spending hundreds of dollars on a knife...I'm still trying to figure out some of those price tags in my head...wow! I happen to be someone who does EDC. Right now I have a Kershaw Camshaft, but at various times, other knives have been in my clip. Over the years, one or two of my EDCs have wound up missing (and I know how I felt) I could not imagine how sick I would feel if a knife worth over 700 USD disappeared. I just couldn't fathom it!

I promise you don't want any H1, us in to sharpening call it the Gummy worm steel and that is a wholly accurate term. It's not good in any way other then total corrosion rejection. It doesn't sharpen well, it doesn't take a good fine edge and the half ass edge you do get on it is gone as soon as you cut anything that has any abrasive properties at all. It really is a terrible steel and if you do get it I would get in the Spydie edge (full serrated) because at at least the spydie edge will cut when dull the fine edge will dull so quickly it's almost pointless. It also has thr habit of rolling really easily due to how soft it is.

The QC issues on the Rockwall have kept me from buying it. There’s no way some of the defects that have been showing up, such as burrs on the lockbar or defective detents, would have made it past a competent person checking the knives out before they go out they door. Super disappointing
@tincansailor94372 жыл бұрын
My Rockwall was perfect but my Bexar came filthy, had a finishing problem on the butt end of the back spring, and had a set of too-short screws on one side. To TKC’s credit all has been addressed but the damning part was the admission they had problems with some of the screw sets. Which means they KNEW there was a defect when shipped. In fact, I have an email praising my attention to detail for noticing. Still, I’m rooting for them and ultimately have no regrets. Both are fantastic knives. The Bexar is truly unique and special IMO.

I'm fairly new to the knife scene. Been watching lots of videos. Honest question. Why pay $500 or more for a custom knife when it seems like there are so many great options under $200? Is there really a substantial increase in quality of materials and finish?
@BestDamnEDC2 жыл бұрын
There’s a certain threshold where you cross into almost an art territory. Functional art. And there are just makers that speak to you. Sure, you can find great functional blades for anywhere from $15-$400. But sometimes it’s about more than functions or price. It’s not for everyone.

Around 21:35ish you say "very deep carry" pocket clips, especially this one. If the clip is by the at the end of the handle, that's as deep as it will go. Essentially any clip at the end of the handle is deep carry, since it can't go any deeper past the end clip if it's at the end of the handle, regardless how long the clip is.
@BestDamnEDC2 жыл бұрын
There are deep carry clips that extend beyond the handle. And the milled clip is deep, but not to the edge of the handle. Just distinguishing. No need to get pedantic about it

Would be cool if you got/carried more knives with more bold designs/colors instead of the plain jane titanium design. Don't get me wrong, I can definitely appreciate the quality of most of the knives in this video, but the "high end" knife choices right now feel kind of boring outside of the really expensive custom knives with special inlays and Gold Class Benchmades.
