i've been waiting for ages to get my hands on a PARA3 Maxamet. it was out of stock everywhere, and its almost impossible to get here in the UK. finally i found a US retailer in Wisconsin, and they sent me this beauty. I'm really happy that I've pulled the trigger, because the price after import taxes and shipping is way different compared to what a US resident has to pay for it, but it's worth every penny. I think this is the one for me, i love every detail of it, even its grey color has grown on me 🙂 i also have a Kizer Gemini in full titanium and S35VN steel. for some people its too 'vanilla', but for me its one of he most beautiful designs ever made. That one is also a keeper for sure

Spydercos maxamet knives are knives you can have forever. As long as you sharpen, and remove fatigued steel, you can use the edge hard. I did tons of twisting cuts out of aspen with a 17dps edge and no damage occurred at all. It’s incredibly strong. There was a time I slipped on a cut into my steel work bench and the edge just cut into the steel😂 tested on paper afterward I didn’t feel any damage. It’s a very special steel.

"I almost sold the Nirvana. That was dumb. That was really dumb." You're telling me man! I owned two. First one came brand new to me from a dealer, it had really bad lock rock so I returned it when I should have just sent it to spyderco and they probably could have fixed it. Second one I got second hand from someone on the forums, it was in perfect condition, perfect action, lockup, centering, it was beautiful. I sold it a few years ago for $400 what I had into it after buying a truck that needed work. It's easily the biggest regret I have when it comes to my knife collection! Hold on to that one! Or sell it to me lol.

I am very new to the modern knife scene. I just got my first one, a Para3 in S45VN and I love it. One thing I've decided after hundreds of reviews: frame lock knives, no matter how premium, will never be for me. To a blade, I find them ugly. I'd rather have a slipjoint.

@eagles72352 жыл бұрын
@@staylocked6530 definitely leather, since it will patina over time and give your carry a bit of a story to tell. Also, it can be a conversation starter if it catches someone’s eye. If you go for leather, I’d suggest a wallet or an organizer of sorts; even a coin sleeve if you’re into that. Brass is a bit harder, since it depends on what you carry specifically, but you can make it work.

Chris Reeve is pretty much all you'll ever need. The overall precision that goes into making his knives, along with the geometry and strength of the blade are incredible. Tough, elegant and durable, even for your sweaty ass, Taylor!
@user-nr2nj7wx6x2 жыл бұрын
There are hundreds of knives that are exponentially better and not entirely over priced
@mofomartianp2 жыл бұрын
Chis Reeve is the the most overrated knife brand ever. 500 bucks for a hollow-ground folding knife?!?! WTF?! For that money, every blade should be a hand-ground convex with a perfect zero-point apex. Geometry and strength of a convex grind is far superior to a hollow grind. If CR really wanted to make the best knives the in world, they would convex grind their knives.
@abc456f2 жыл бұрын
@@mofomartianp CRK's come with a slight convex edge. Have you ever had one? I wondered if they were all hype until I got my first sebenza. Taking it apart and putting it back together convinced me the hype was real. I haven't found any production knives that have the level of fit and finish, super tight tolerances. The supplied Allen wrench fits the screws absolutely perfectly, the pivot seats so tight, I don't think a hair could be squeezed into that space. There's no fiddling with the pivot to get the blade centered. Just tighten everything up and it's dead on center. Zero blade play, lock rock, detent lash. I own four crk's and they're all made to the same exacting quality. I think some people talk them down just for the sake of being contrarian. I have no problem with their prices for what you get. Spyderco, Benchmade, ZT, Hinderer, Strider, Medford, etc. all make very good knives. Chris Reeve makes great knives, which I'll qualify, in my opinion.
@mofomartianp2 жыл бұрын
@@abc456f I've handled one, I wasn't impressed. I prefer the bugout in aluminum. I'm sure CR knives are machined to very tight tolerances, and I'm sure they are built well. But I've heard questionable things about their heat-treat and the fact that they use hollow grinds just ruins what could be a really good, albeit overpriced folder. I hate hollow ground blades. I'm a self-admitted snob, I know, but I also make some of my own knives and convex is the only way to go.

If only there was an XL quiet carry waypoint or CRK salt series.
@BestDamnEDC2 жыл бұрын
The Zaan rusted in my pocket while backpacking. It was mainly just from me letting sweat stay on it. But saltwater will corrode just about any stainless steel without proper maintenance. You could pray to the knife gods for a Magnacut Zaan to happen someday, but I wouldn’t hold my breath.

I don't understand how hiking around with a knife in your pocket can rust a knife that much.
