Chris you can't even see the defects in the paint. It looks absolutely mint man! Great work!
@sanddan525 Жыл бұрын
SEM brand Trim Black will give you the correct “semigloss” look. Spray one coat of adhesion promoter before the black. This will help the paint stick without fisheyes and defects. You can get it at an automotive paint supply store. I’ve been using the trim black for years, works great and has just the right amount of sheen.

Since everyone is chiming in with things they don't like... let me just say, if I were going to build another '69, this is very similar to the route I'd go. Love everything about resto-mod.. really is the best of both worlds IMO. I've had the itch to do a '68 with the LT5 but time is a rare commodity these days... Instrument panel looks great and the areas with most of the defects are almost invisible once the dash cap is back in place. 🤜 BTW, I finished up an SLC a couple of years ago with one of the AiM dash units... much more compact than Holley's with lots of cool bells and whistles for logging, customization etc.. And after much debate over traditional guages, no regrets in going that route.

I am a 69 Camaro purist. I'm not a big fan of retro but the job you did does look pretty good for modifying it. It's your car and you do what you like.

Oh well, I understand about time and getting on with it. Vintage A/C systems are so intriguing to me. I can't get enough about them. Thanks for taking us along with you. I love your stuff. The cluster surround looks awesome, the paint issues are somewhat typical with the hardware store paints. From a plastic modeler perspective, on these smaller plastic projects at least, you might consider using a modeling paint? Just a thought.

One of my favorite things is taking old cars and adding new high tech stuff into them. This is right up my ally. However the $2200 bucks for Holly's, at least for ME, is a lot to swallow. I plan on making my own, been researching it for a long time. If the vehicle is ODB2 you can buy the LCD and use free software to customize it how you like. I'll be putting it on my channel this summer when I get going on it. I did not know about the acetone paste/glue. What a fantastic tip, thanks man. It came out beautiful. Looking forward to seeing it completed. Have you thought about wiring the power to the holly on a difference circuit from ignition? I think it would annoy me waiting for it to power up at initial start vs turn key to on, let it boot then start the car without the holly rebooting.
@apatriotstouch Жыл бұрын
Nice work Chris, I like the acitone tip ima try that next time I work with plastic. Just a thought, depending on how bright the Holley display is, what If you took a piece of plexi and lightly spray tinted It like you did the red Z06 marker lights. And placed it in front of the display so it’s black until you fire it up that would really clean it up. just a thought I had driving to work this morning thinking. Love the channel keep up the great vids..
