A thump up? Well....i will give you a million thumbs up. And if a had the money, i will give you 50 thouthand dlrs . For it to bring this beauty to my garage! You deserve a Guinnes record award for the must well conserved Bertone X 1/9 ever! I bought one 84 model on 2002. Through 2007. But sell it cause engine malfuction and not find a good mechanic. And im repented for not be patient, the rest of my life. It was my dream car since my teenager days ( im 58 now) . Thanks for this awesome video. It doesnt nee any narrative at all! Congrats

I had two of these back when I was in college. Bought a ‘86 Bertone in ‘92 and in ‘95 I bought a ‘84 for its parts. I was brought to tears when I had to get rid of it/them in ‘98. Let me be the second here to just say, if you ever, ever want to find a very good home for your immaculately preserved Bertone, you would enable me to die a happy man. (Hopefully not too soon thereafter, of course.) ......thx

Nice! Owned one back in 82' (before Bertone took over the rights for export). Probably the most fun I ever had driving, (and I've owned quite a few British two-seaters, and Datsun/Nissan Z's). Not very quick but a blast in the twisties, drove like it was on rails. Fun fact: This car was built at a time when the U.S. Safety Board was considering all cars (foreign and domestic) built by 1974 would have to withstand a 45 mph head-on collision with passenger survival. Unfortunately the Big Three U.S. manufacturers couldn't cost effectively meet that so the requirement was dropped (go figure). Fiat, however, had already designed the X1-9 to meet those requirements PLUS roll over survival (structural reinforcement in the taga roof and A-pillar) for U.S. export, but sadly at the cost of affecting the cars performance (excessive weight), and therefore hurting the cars desirability here. Got more than my share of tickets in that beauty, but of all the cars I've owned, I miss my X1-9 the most. Enjoyed seeing yours, it brought back some good memories.

DOT's proposal was retired because, of all the cars sold in the US, only two could pass the barrier and roll-over tests. The Fiat X1/9 and the Volvo 240.

The other winner was Volvo.. Don’t know if it had the side impact protection like the X1/9

Ciao
