I had to come back and read the comments. :D I really love paper and stationery. It brings me a lot of joy. Working digital would just take all the fun out of journaling and planning for me. I also think a lot of people who do digital or who only use 1 planner or journal don't realize that this isn't just about practical and function; it's our hobby. (I'm really glad they found what works for THEM.) Some folks play video games, some do sports, some go out for drinks after work, some spend their evenings watching tv. We do stationery! :D I have a line-up of 6 for 2020-- one I use for keeping track of the family's schedule, meal planning, etc, one is for reading notes/quotes, and the others are for different kinds of journaling and experimenting. And I use them ALL. Maybe not every day, but they get used. Anyway, happy journaling and planning in whatever way that brings you joy and gets the job done!

Gosh ... good for you 🤗 I’m in favour of decluttering the mind, and keeping everything in one bullet journal ... If I had too many journals and notebooks and planners, I would need a planner to let me know what the planner I have planned a plan in and where to find the plan that the planners plan oh my gosh I’m confused already. Good luck :-)
@PenguinsCreative5 жыл бұрын
To each their own! It's awesome that you have a system that works for you, and glad that it will serve you well in the new year! Which notebook do you use for your bullet journal?
@steveshepherd3335 жыл бұрын
Penguins Creative Hi Penguins Creative, thanks for your response :-) Re the notebook I use ... I use a medium size, similar to the size you yourself use ... it’s a handy portable size. I’ve used lined versions in the past. ... I have just purchased a book with dots in, for the first time. The reason I use one Bullet Journal instead of several is that it means everything is in one place, all in one book. You can create projects within the BJ, you can start projects halfway through the book or anywhere you wish, and designate several pages to that project, but, index this at the beginning in the index section so you can find with ease where any particular item is. I needed a method that worked for me where I could use one book and use it for everything, budgeting, projects, daily, notes, diary notes etc. etc. I searched high and low for a method that suited my needs, and that both allowed for both basic, and artistic as necessary if I wished. I found the actual creator of the Bullet Journal, had some videos on KZbin (under Bullet Journal), by the creator of this method Ryder Carroll, after I first discovered him on TED Talks. Link for Bullet Journal ... kzbin.info This guy suffered from mental health issues and over many years he worked out this method that worked for him, and over a period of time, he helped his friend organise her wedding, who was having big issues organising her big day, using this method. It may not be for everyone, but it serves me well and it comes tried and tested by Ryder Carroll. I believe Bullet Journaling should be for the individual, this is what makes B. Journaling unique, everyone will have their tied and tested method, and they can change their B.J. to suit their own needs and can change then layout as and when they feel fit. For me Bullet Journaling is a way of decluttering the mind, without building up more clutter to carry around, ie one journal for every different activity. I’ve seen some beautifully artistic journals out there, yours included, and I love looking at other people’s ideas and suggestions and skills ... and as you very rightly say ‘to each their own’ ... a method of Bullet Journaling that an individual will adhere to, is the one that works for them ... Have a fantastic Christmas and a Happy New Year and Happy Journaling too .... Best wishes, Steve. :-)

Did you watch the video? She's keeping track of A LOT. She has explained, in great detail, what each one is designated for. To track all of that in one planner, it would have to be massive. And since they aren't all daily, having a massive planner to house all of it would be a waste. And, it probably helps her a lot to keep things separate. Keeping track of so much can be overwhelming, this probably keeps things more straightforward.

Finding the right balance between enjoying the moment and recording it on paper is definitely a tricky thing. Don't you agree that sometimes the act of writing this down (recording) is also part of living? It really depends on what a person enjoys doing with the time they have: playing sports, meeting people, watching a movie, cooking...etc. Thankfully, at this phase of my life (because it will change over time), journaling and using stationery take up an ample (but happy) amount!

I'm just starting with planners. Bought three Hobonichis: - the Planner with the Search and Collect cover for daily life (looks like it's the sturdiest cover of them all that will also keep my fountain pen safe - the other zip covers with the pen holder inside have a soft cotton exterior) - the Cousin with the fancy expensive Lily of the Valley fabric cover, for journaling my impressions from books and movies (to keep them fresh, to jot down plot speculation before it gets overwritten in my memory by the actual plot and to repurpose failed hypotheses for my own stories, also, to hopefully force myself to organize my life more effectively so I will have time to read and watch things) - the Original with the "I Forgot When It Was..." pink cat cover, for daily art. The polyester cover should be relatively easy to clean if paint gets on it, and and the bold design is proof art doesn't need to be classically perfect to create joy. I'm also strongly considering another Cousin, for thoughts and such, and a Weeks as a work/study scheduler, but I'll see how this goes first so journaling doesn't become a chore, and look at the new Spring covers debuting in February so I can pack everything into one order. (Although, had I known this Weeks has purple debossing, I'd have definitely bought it). And next year, I'm getting a 5-year techo (because 2021 is when the decade properly starts - I want the numbers to read 2021-2025, 2026-30, etc).

It's very smooth. Gel pen and fountain pen glides on it perfectly, but it doesn't take too long to dry as you would experience on Hobonichi's Tomoe River paper. It is also thicker than TRP but thinner than typical bullet journaling planners like the Leuchtturm.
