thanks for introducing me to brands like fortis, yema and squale and many others. when getting into watches i had no frame of reference for any brands. this channel helped me fill out a lot of that knowledge. and i'm really glad to learn about these wonderful storied brands because they have some amazing designs, legitimate pedigree and do not get their due credit. that has been one gift of the channel, learning it's okay not to have an skx or a submariner and all the watches you're "supposed" to have because there are a lot of alternatives. another gift of the channel for me has been the equal appreciation and enjoyment of a 30 dollar casio to a watch that costs a hundred times more. this really is an admirable anti snob attitude and keeps the channel relatable. it keeps me from going too far down the wristwatch rabbit hole when i am looking at a watch i really can't afford.

This has been an incredible year because I discovered that I like watches and all thanks to TGV and this channel, I had thought about watches in the past but never at the level of making it as conscious as now, less thinking about immersing myself in the world of watchmaking. When I first was getting into the hobby four years ago, my son Marshal told me if I was going to be getting into watches I should watch your channel and it's been a fantastic journey ever since. Your love of Seiko and Casio was contagious. When my son graduated from ASU I bought him a Seiko SARB017 Alpinist. He was going to Japan to work and he loved the watch. He sent me a picture of him and a friend mountain climbing in Japan wearing his Alpinist... WOW! Thank you for EVREYTHING. You have educated me on so many levels. Possibly the best collection of all collectors I've seen so far, mainly because of the diversity with great additions like Accutron, and Rolex's with cool straps, how refreshing, thanks for being different

Just received the Carl Friedrik watch case, gave it as a Xmas gift for my son. Ordered it in black. Had it engraved with his initials. They embossed his initials in the leather and then painted the initials in silver. The quality of the leather is superb. My son loves it, super classy, and you know how picky 18 years old boys can be. I’ve got a pic if you want to see it. Lizzy at head office was super nice and arranged the whole thing.

Great collection! Just introduced my 5 year old stepdaughter to The Gremlins, she loved it. I got her a kids Swatch for Christmas to teach her how to tell time. This will be her first watch, so excited to share this with her! Hopefully Santa brings me the Swatch I want, you got me started on Swatches lol

I've been wearing my Seiko bishop this evening, first time its been out the box for a while. Its like having a new honeymoon period though, brings it all back, cant see me wearing anything else this week now. Get it out, get it on the wrist and watch the film again (or the whole series). Thank you TGV, I had one of your videos pop up as a suggestion just over 2 years ago and at that time I didn't even wear a watch. Although I always loved watches I did not own one as I had this idea of what type of watch I should wear and I just couldn't afford a decent Swiss watch. Today I have a modest collection of 9 watches (nothing Swiss yet) but each one is special to me and have been bought after lots of research and time spent getting my next special piece. A beautiful collection TGV.😍 Just on the Catalina flying boats. Australia took delivery of some 168 during WW2. A little trivia is they were serviced at Lake Boga, a small rural town, if that, in country Victoria between 1942-47. Very nice, as always! I enjoy how eclectic your collection is. I'm currently trying (unsuccessfully) to get my collection down to a more manageable size of about ten to twelve pieces, but I'm so indecisive that it's nearly impossible. Really well done, TGV! It is really enjoyable to see how your collection evolves and develops as you continue your watch collecting journey. I noticed that this year your SOTC reflects how your pieces reflect a more personal note than previously. I also grew my collection significantly this year, and I can to realize a certain focus or niche that my collection defines. I have rarely been drawn to trends in much of anything to include my watches. While many collectors might find themselves lusting after or feeling like they are “supposed” to lust after certain watches because they are popular or famous, I have found that more often than not, I follow a road less traveled. This year it became apparent to me that I enjoy filling common collection gaps with uncommon selections. My divers are different selections than most, my chronograph, and my dress pieces. Anyone outside the watch world would probably not know the name of a single one of my top pieces. And I really like it that way. It satisfies several things for me. One and my favorite, if some one asks about it, I can bring them deeper into the watch hobby than they were previously. Two, it pretty much assures me that very few people are wearing a similar piece to me (this is not important to me but is to others so I thought I’d mention it). Three, it solidifies my collection by insuring that it is a reflection of me and not a reflection the best marketing during my collecting journey. I have spent more on my collection this year than any other, and I have reached a point where I am extremely content with my collection. I have one grail watch that I fully intend to purchase when I reach a certain life goal, hopefully in the next few months. Other than that there are two pieces that I have my eye on, that aren’t grails, but that I would enjoy. Neither would fill a gap in the collection. I just like them. I am unsure if I will purchase them. Otherwise, I love reading about, learning about, and trying out other watches; but I am over the moon happy with where my collection sits now. I hope that your new acquisitions are as fulfilling for you as mine have been for me. They truly represent some amazing achievements for you. The Hanhart and Squale are still my favorites in your collection, but you have so many incredible pieces it is truly hard to choose. Very very well done this year! You seem to have recovered quite well from the initial effects of the pandemic, have grown the channel in a positive direction that is more rooted in who you are, found solidarity in your horological goals and aspirations, and have progressed well occupationally. Congrats in all areas are in order. Thank you as always for the content and entertainment. Onward and upward. May you and yours have the happiest of holidays. See you in the New Year. So pleased to see the Dan Henry still making the cut! Bought it for my wedding watch on release, then Covid got in the way. Eventually, it got it's outing on the tan strap in September. A fantastic piece. I've now got it on a dark grey Colareb strap, and my Seiko 5 blue dial has it's own strap of the same name too. The Seiko Flightmaster is on the birthday list for April. I’m wearing my go to, everyday Casio GD-350 , and for dinner out I let my GA-2100-1A1 lead the conversation. For a dress night out, I immediately go to my ‘90’s era Seiko Arctura Kinetic Chronograph, the “maxed out” version, 2-tone , all Sapphire, automatic. Still have my eye on a Citizen Promaster SST, which is waiting for me at the jewelry store.
