Thanks for your video. My wife and I both have Shimano Vanford 5000 spinning reels for a couple of years. We both have G Loomis e6x 9 ft 6 inch med / light spinning rods. Vanford series are the best spinning reels you can buy for the price. We live in N/W Oregon on the coast and fish for salmon steelhead and sea run cutthroat trout. The rods weigh only 5 ounces and reel is only 7.8 ounces. Incredibly lightweight combination for big fish. Looking to by the new Vanford FA 5000 when it becomes available.

You are welcome. Thank for your interest in the channel content. You are correct. The Vanfords are the premiere reels in their price points. Paired with thos E6x's, you have some excellent combos. I truly admire that you and your wife are getting the best of those salmon and trout. My wife and I enjoyed a Pastor & wife retreat in Sisters Oregon this past May 2024. Great strategy to save a little bit here and there until you got what you need. Don’t forget that you can ask family and friends to purchase gift cards for you on your special days (ie your birthday, Father’s Day, or just to say thank you). This can add to your purchasing power and also reduce the amount of your out of pocket expense. I pray that you get that two piece medium 6‘10“ casting rod as soon as possible.😊 👏🏿👏🏿🎣

Great video. I am and have been a huge Shimano fan for more decades than I should mention. I am planning on getting the Vanford within the next year myself. That Vanford sure does look like it was purpose built and colored to fit on that Zodias rod.

What is your take on pairing the Poison Adrena with the more expensive reels such as the Twin power or the Stellas? Is it worth the money or the Vanford will be sufficient? Thanks.

I will post any and all major deals that I can find online. They will be in the Community posts However, the majority of the deals that I get are based upon the items NOT being on sale. That Shimano Vanford is not on sale. It was a combination of timing, gift cards that were given to me, OK and rewards credit that I used toward the purchase. The intent of this channel is to teach you how to do that as well so that you don’t have to wait for a particular sale to be offered. Unfortunately, this information is now disbursed in about 150 videos. However, all of the information is free.

Last week, I bought the 3000 model, and as a former Stradic CI4 user, the reel feels a bit bulky to me. It seems to struggle under load, and the nob is unnecessarily long. The Stradic weighs 190 grams, and the Vanford weighs 180, but the Vanford feels heavier to me. I guess the weight balance is different. Do you think this could be related to the rod I'm using?

Yes, the type of rod can give an impression that a real is heavier than it actually is. Take into consideration the length and material of the butt handle of the rod. What kind of rod are you pairing the Vanford with? 👏🏿👏🏿🎣

It’s a very good braided line. Particularly with the black, one thing that I noted was that there were times when I did not need a fluorocarbon leader. My only criticism is that I wish it were more narrow than what it is. its performance, however, has been flawless. 👏🏿👏🏿🎣
