Two of these rules are super sad: 1) don’t hold him for more than 5 minutes. He’s a newborn. He naturally is seeking connection from his parents, especially his mom who he still feels he’s a part of. Idk what the obsession is with having independent BABIES. They are babies. 2) English only. As a person who was never taught their family’s native language as a kid so I would “learn things right”, it’s the thing I have the most resentment for my mom for. I can’t communicate with my own grandmother now as an adult and it’s so depressing. Who cares if a teacher doesn’t know what a specific thing is? Culture should be taught young and children should be proud of it. Not ashamed. Not told it’s not “right”. I hope one day you are able to stop being ashamed of your culture because some white people don’t know what things are.

1. He isn't a newborn. You don't know our baby and how he feels. We spend a lot of time with him even if we aren't holding him in our arms- especially myself. And because we spend a lot of one to one time with him we know when he is seeking for our attention and when he needs us the most. There isn't an obsession at all. There is nothing wrong with a baby building their own independence and developing their self-regulation skills early on. 2. I’m sorry you feel resentment towards your mom for that but like I said, he will learn one day. My priority right now is my baby learning his home language, English. As a person who wasn't taught at an early age I was able to learn later on and is able to communicate with relatives. Who cares if a teacher doesn't understand? I do because I would like for my child to be able to communicate his needs to his future teachers and not feel frustrated that they don't understand him. I never said I was ashamed of my culture lol as a matter of fact I love being Filipino 🇵🇭
