People, pay attention to the process Cecillia goes through to get herself back in a good state of mind. This is persistence. This is resilience. These are life skills. Instagram and Facebook cannot fix you. An operable mind with honed problem-solving skills is what you need to navigate life. Cecillia, thank you for your transparency and generosity of heart. Just lovely, as always. And yes, those little sheep are to die for. Hoping things in France get sorted soon so some of us can buy some of your treasures when you are able to sell them.

Your channel format - the results first, then important process points - is unparalleled on the subject of remodeling projects. Your flawless narration is engaging and insightful. I share your awareness that this kind of projects are all about testing our resilience, patience, and ability to adapt and keep learning. The production of your videos makes me bow: the framing of all the takes, the light, the editing, the timing of all the clips, the storyline... all in alignment that leaves me craving more of your content. Your entire family are such absolute gifts. We are 2 days into our first scouting trip here in France (exploring Paris first, next will be Lyon). We intend to make France our home within the next year. I first discovered your husband’s channel while researching expats who had related to France, then your son’s, and was so thrilled when I saw that you were launching your own channel! Thank you for sharing your vulnerability and how you’re holding space for these frustrating setbacks while also finding your center in the things you know bring life to your soul. For the past several weeks, I have not been meditating and have been in a similar spiral of feeling the weight of things being more challenging than I pictured them (for me right now, it’s work and travel planning). This video was the reminder I needed to reset my intentions and get back to what I know keeps me centered. Thank you so much for that! ❤

Loved this! It’s so similar to what my husband and I have experienced with our huge reno. Like you, I am very particular and tend to fall in love with materials and looks that are must be “created” since they are not available (most recently, it was custom forged balusters and then a custom front door with specialty paint that drove my poor contractor crazy). The mess also drives me nuts. We started in February of 2024 and are still under construction while living in our finished basement, surviving on take-out, microwaving, and a toaster oven. It should end in a few weeks and then, like you, I am sure I will forget the pain and enjoy our home. Hang in there! It’ll be beautiful.

I wish I lived in France, but I need to find my joy where I am, and the only way to do that is to make it a practice. You are coping quite well in spite of set backs.....and indeed thank you for showing the ikkey side and the challenging side as it reminds us that we all have struggles even when things look so idyllic on the outside to others, life can be bumpy but eventually the rewards come. Hoping the visa stuff gets sorted, I think the biggest frustration comes from the different way of admin in France. Its hard to adjust to the process as its so very unfamiliar to us and often seems much more complicated than we are used to. The time factor and lack of prompt response is def a trigger (it was for me). But, with such a healthy and special outlook and personality you weather the storm brilliantly!

Life is full of ups and downs, and moving to a new country brings its own unique challenges, not everything is flowers and butterflies :). I’m incredibly touched that this resonates with so many people. My hope is to inspire those who may be struggling right now. You have such a calming quality and your conversational style is to point and highly entertaining - No worries about rushing to show stuff as your voice and storytelling without too much else is more than enough 💙 I can’t tell you how much I relate to this. I bought a home in TX (where I’m from) thinking I would renovate and sell (as the market was great at the time) before moving to Portugal(where I had just been for a few months). I’d just gotten back to TX with my senior 🐶 at the time and knew I could make a pretty good profit. Long story short, what my contractor told me would take 3 months, ended up being 11 almost a full year. I’m single and had taken on managing it by finding different tradesmen myself. Two years later(just a few days ago), I finally sold said home. I lost my beloved soul 🐶 in the process and in a way, I think I lost myself too. This is all to say, sometimes things don’t end up the way we pictured them and we make insurmountable mistakes along the path, but ultimately there’s a way out someway somehow. Or at least, that’s what I’m telling myself. I’m considering France instead of Portugal now bc I realized it may be better suited to my sensibilities. Thank you for your videos! And if you can, please share more in depth info (websites, agencies, regions to consider) on the home buying process 🙏

Thank you so much for sharing. I’m deeply sorry for the loss of your beloved dog, losing a furry child is an incredibly painful experience, and my heart goes out to you. I also empathize with you about the challenges and emotional toll of even a "simple remodel project." It’s astonishing how such self-imposed endeavors can disrupt our peace and grounding, yet they often test our patience and resilience in profound ways. I truly believe we’re here on this earth to grow and learn about ourselves through all kinds of experiences. I commend you for pursuing what you want-it takes courage. Be compassionate and kind to yourself; you’re on the right path, and I’m confident you’ll come out of this even stronger and more grounded. Visas are such a pain! My husband and I finally got ours. These are our 3rd ones, and each one has been different. We have a lawyer helping us as my husband has set up a business. I noticed the website, my visas dates showed the visa was only good for 3 months and not 4 years. I pointed this out to my lawyer and she emailed them. When I went to pickup my new visa, it was only for 3 months. I had to come back in 1 month for my real one. Such a pain…but so happy to be able to live here. I wish you lots of calmness and good luck with visas.

Tnx so much for bringing me down to reality Cecilia. You and Josh are incredibly hardworking people I realised. Yes hard work is always the answer, even when you feel like you are going crazy. I'm in the process of going through a courtcase here in Adelaide and have to make a decision of whether to accept the settlement amount I have been offered or keep fighting for double the amount which is what I have been told I'm entitled to. In the meantime I'm trying not to go insane, because I don't like talking to lawyers and my legal bill is already more than twenty times the amount my car is worth. I love your decorating work, it's done with dedication and precision. The houses in France are among the most beautiful on earth, and so cheap. I have always loved France. Seeing your videos has made me realise that when purchasing an old house it is important to assess exactly the extent of renovation that it will need. I couldn't do the amount of renovation you guys do. A D.N.A. test has revealed I'm 73% northern italian, 15% french and spanish and 5% germanic europe, 7% southern italy and western turkey. I love your artwork and jewelry, is the jewelry available for sale yet?

Oh I so understand where “you’re at”…..I’m Australian and have been living an expat life for 9 years. Our visa situation in both India and Singapore have been a nightmare process….the former being a 29 on the Richter scale😂😂😂. Those days I’m feeling completely overwhelmed I just want to lock myself away…..they’re my “I’m done with the world days.” I soon get out of “my funk”, but I certainly need time to process it all. PS- Your paintings are just magnificent ❤

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. It’s such a comfort to hear from someone who truly understands the rollercoaster of expat life and visa struggles. A 29 on the Richter scale, what a perfect way to describe it! I completely relate to those “done with the world days.” Taking that time to step back and process everything is so important, and I admire your ability to bounce back. Thank you for your kind words about my paintings. That means so much to me. Wishing you strength and calm as you continue navigating this expat adventure!

Hang in there Cecilia! I’m constantly blown away by your creativity, taste and talent for design. I’m so not a DIY person, so watching you do all of this is crazy impressive. It will all be beautiful. So sorry to hear about the working visa rejection.😞I hope you are given a reason for it or can you reapply at some point?🙏❤️

Hi Cecilia! Thank you for sharing your house interior work with us. Looking forward to seeing the final work. Your small paintings are so beautiful. Was your degree in art? I'm thinking of taking classes of on art, in drawing, painting etc. It would be great if you gave beginner art tutorials. I'll sign up for sure. Have a great week.

Hi! Thank you so much for your kind words. I’m really glad you’re enjoying the interior work and my small paintings, t means a lot. I do have an art degree, and it’s been such a joy to apply that background to different creative projects. It’s wonderful that you’re thinking about taking art classes, drawing and painting are such rewarding ways to explore creativity. I’ll definitely keep the idea of beginner tutorials in mind, it would be so much fun to share more of the process. Wishing you a fantastic week too!

I understand how very upsetting it has been for you to receive the bad news regarding the visa and the reelection of Trump the very same day in a foreign country which is not easy to understand... You are not losing your sense of humour that is awesome to see and yes sometimes we forget how much more energy one's had 10 years ago ;) PS: if that can help, remember how learning a language was challenging and surprising at the same time. We tend to think we are not doing progress when it works by cycles of set backs and surprising improvements and not in a straight line from point A to point B. Good luck with everything!

Wow! So many challenges! I would just give up. So draining. But I admire your perseverance and knowing that if you let things go, not try to control, they will work out! I’m interested in why Josh’s working visa was denied - right when Trump was elected - hmmm - coincidence?
@AnArtistsLifeYT2 күн бұрын
Thank you so much for your kind words and support. Renovations can indeed be draining, but I believe that by staying flexible and not trying to control every aspect, things will eventually work out. Regarding Josh’s working visa, sometimes it's just a missing paper or a minor error, so we will continue working on it. Your encouragement means a lot to us during this challenging time.

Ok...not sure of your age but just going to put it out there...on top of all these things going on, are you any where near menopausal age? Just wondering if that is throwing anything additional in to an already busy and exhausting life. As a social worker in an emergency response program I dealt with very stressful situations that weren't of my doing but situations others had created in their own lives. I really felt myself taking physical and mental hits from these situations when before I could have created boundaries and let things role off my back...then it hit me like a ton of bricks that my hormones were really doing a number on me. Once that started to get under control, home life and work life started to settle down and my stress level was more manageable. I live in Central California and here my main issue is trying to find good handymen to show up when they say they will to do the job...mine are small jobs compared to what you are trying to accomplish so I can't imagine trying to get comfortable in your home but all these road blocks keep popping up that you need to switch directions and deal with. You are a perfectionist so eventually you will have a beautiful home that you and your husband have created...but it's the getting there that causes the frustration. Completely understand and am happy to see that you do take breaks to do other things that bring you additional joy. I'm currently sitting here with 3 colors of paint on my living room wall waiting for the painter to return so he can start the job so I do really understand!! Wishing that everything could fall in to place for you...and it will and you can then thoroughly enjoy your new home at last. Be thankful for your talent, your family and your opportunities.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment. Ha, ha, I am in menopause, so I completely understand how hormones can add to life’s challenges. Your story is a great reminder of the importance of balance, and it’s inspiring that you found your way to a better place. I truly appreciate your kind words about our home. It’s been a journey, but knowing it will be beautiful keeps us moving forward. Wishing you the best with your projects, your living room is going to look amazing. Thank you again for your encouragement. It means so much!

Good morning. I love your channel and your art is amazing. I'm also incredibly grateful that President Trump won this election. I think you were upset by the win. I am sorry you feel that way. I have faith we will be fine and we made the right choice. I understand how you feel. I felt like that in 2016. It is an upside down world. Thank god for our first world problems.
