My daughter recently mentioned that she was ready for YA books, but she's not quite there, grade wise. However, your recommendations do seem interesting to me. Especially when you mentioned you read aloud to your class. I haven't done that for her for so long. What a great idea! Now I'm deciding whether I should wait until Christmas or stop at my local Barnes and Nobles.

I’m an elementary library aide, aka Educational Assistant, aka librarian 😉 (k-5), and I had purchased the first 2 books that you mentioned and hope to read them, and now I will be purchasing the other 3! Thanks for the recommendations! Question: Do you find that the least read genre in 5th grade is fantasy?
