Thanks, it was an overheating motor which now works ok , not sure why, it had melted some wires hence the smoke. I’ll check your problems out later when I get home. Atb Michael

Runaway loco at 3:14! I thought that coupling looked a bit dodgy early on. My 7 1/4” loco has a breakaway connector in series with the motor circuit which cuts power if that happens.
