That 600 could also be stretched over a number of years if need be. So if you have money for a nice guitar, then yea buy one but if you're hard up, then upgrade it over time and learn the craft.

The huge difference is. That you can buy parts and upgrade as You save up the $ for part. and still play it in between. Plus. Most of those upgrades you can do yourself. (Ok. Most can't level. Crown and polish frets) (I would argue that cloth wire is opposite of upgrade. It's just an old Way. The upgrade is 4 wire shielded wire. No matter how many wires you use between runs. Shielded is Better) but as You upgrade Yourself. You learn More about upkeep and How it works. And not be afraid to fix little things... Mostly it's about having the $600.00 all at once... (And. There's no guarantee that the used guitar you buy from guitar center online is all that good either )

I've bought over 20 USED Guitars. And back in 2010 prices were Great. Now. After Covid the prices have gone up considerably ... I also modify an just about build guitars. So I am speaking somewhat from experience.... Just saying

There's no resale value after you've upgraded it. Nobody will want to buy it unless you know them. Buying a named brand has resale value.

@@alexojideagu I don't sell them. I play them isn't doing what you're doing Al so I modify them ? .. Although mine are So niche that even if someone wants one. There is no value in an open market so I wouldn't sell them

@@D.Guitar I'm not putting 500-600 into a no brand guitar unless I have money to burn. Pawn shops and online auctions are full of people who said they didn't care about the money 3 years earlier. Including former millionaires. You might be desperate for some cash one day in an emergency. Nobody is buying an upgraded Temu guitar.

You don't upgrade guitars like that just to get a better. You can and should learn how to shop for guitar parts that do the job and don't break the bank. Also, you can learn how to do tech work yourself, loosing your fear of (and for) your instruments -- and save money in the bargain!‼️
@warrennewsomwaw32229 күн бұрын
If you can do the work yourself, and are willing to settle for Oripure, Guitar Madness, Wilkinson, etc pups,; quality Wilkinson bridge and tuners,; generic mechanical 5-way switch; generic pots and cap, then you can get a darn good guitar for around $200. Unless you're a touring, professional musician, is it ever really worth it to spend $600 plus on a guitar? Do the math.

This guitar will have hardly any resale value even when fully upgraded. Nobody is going to want it. A $600 Ibanez or Jackson etc will always hold resale value. So you're actually losing more than this unless you 100% never plan to sell it.
@DrewCreal17 күн бұрын
You're exactly right, that's why I made the video. I made the video to see if it was possible to get a good guitar if you upgrade the parts.
@alexojideagu17 күн бұрын
@@DrewCreal Cool! Yes it's a good project if it's purely for yourself to never sell and you won't need any money back. (Although I was still surprised how expensive it ended up being). Would be interesting to test it against a variety of $600, $800 and $1000 name brand guitars. I assume the goal is to sound closer to a 800-1000 guitar to compensate for losing resale money.
@alexojideagu17 күн бұрын
@@DrewCreal A better idea might be to buy the cheapest Ibanez or Jackson etc and upgrade that. At least you have the name brand! They do some for 150-200 I think.
